"Cobra Kai" -- The Karate Kid Series sequel (1 Viewer)

It was SUPER cheesy and I loved the throwbacks to the OG..

One of the hardest things I had with it (being a 3rd degree blackbelt) was the notion that these kids were the best martial artists in the World..

But yeah, I just tried not to overthink it and enjoy it for what it was. I literally watched the last episode on the edge of my couch with goosebumps. The OG was the reason I got started in Tae Kwon Do to begin with...

I really believe the reason they had Larusso forfiet and not fight was they didn't want to spend the money and wide shots of having the body double that could actually do stuff for that fight. Trying to save money so they just decided to cut it out. I mean the sparring for the training was bad enough that anytime there was anything even remotely athletic they had to pull way back or too close so they could use a body double. It was just painfully obvious she had no business doing karate

I think her grunting was way worse than her fighting.

And her running was worse than her grunting

Let's just be honest. This show started out awesome and then became almost unwatchable. I don't believe it was ever intended to go 6 seasons. Not enough depth in the storylines. It became the same thing over and over. Overall, still loved it.
Yeah, have to imagine it was originally was going to be one or two seasons and done, but when its popularity exploded, Macchio/Zabka, etc. probably couldn’t resist cashing in. Can’t blame them.

Agreed. But Johnny’s breakdown followed by the Cobra Kai intro was one of the highlights of the whole series. Cheesy, but awesome. Up there with the flip the script mohawk.

It really jumped the shark when they brought back Silver. The Kreese stuff could be over the top, but Silver was that times 100.

Nah, I thought bringing Silver back was cool. The problem is these guys were like Jason from Friday the 13th and kept on resurrecting.

As said above, probably didn't expect it to go this long so it became "Who's next? No one left to bring back? Ok more Silver and Kreese"

Kid was rewatching the series again, so I ended up watching the last few episodes again last night. Once done, she mentioned she had only seen KK1, so we watched The Karate Kid II and see where Chosen came from. She was sad no Johnny in this one, but did enjoy it. Good fight seen to end the movie. She will probably watch KK III at some point, although she already hates Silver and Kreese. Not sure if she will find the Next Karate Kid.....

I loved the first season, then it went into a long slog of just enough high points to keep me coming back. I felt pot committed after season 3. As I was marching through Season 6, it picked up in the middle. The last 5 episodes (no matter how cheesy) were awesome. Lots of things that just don't connect, but was happy to see everyone get their redemption arc, which is what I wanted all along. Really strong finish to the series.

Saw an article the other day that they did try to reach out to Hillary Swank about a cameo. Sounded like they never got past her team and she just wasn't interested. Not sure how they would have tied her in but could have been fun.

Anyone else missing from the movies?

Winner Winner. I'd love to watch a fan edit of this. There's an amazing 4 hour movie in here somewhere.

Finally got a chance to watch the last few episodes. So much cheese but love Johnnie’s redemption arch. Absolutely loved the hospital scene with the introduction of Johnny and Carmen’s daughter with Silent Lucidity playing in the background. Chefs kiss
