COD: Advanced Warfare (1 Viewer)

Dainty, Ryodan, and I had sme great close matches against a solid team in TDM for multiple matches. Three on the other team left and a level 1, 1, and 3 joined up. They were legit to. It was just bad, they were so helpless. Funny thing we actually lost one game against them as because we combined to go something like 58-20 for the three of us but we had two guys on our team go 2-16 and 6-26.
Hard to believe I could go 27-8 in TDM 6v6 with you two both going significantly positive as well, and we still lost! Other than that, it was a dream lobby.

Just got this for the bone. What's the best loadout for a fairly bad player? I've been using the first machine gun you start with because I hate the two other ones I've leveled up to (I don't like burst guns).

Also, gamertag is JamesDalton410 for anyone wanting to play. I'm just getting back into gaming and have basically no online friends.

I'll tell you that the BAL Assault Rifle is pretty much top dog in the gun department.

If I were a newbie, I'd run something like:

BAL with a silencer and red dot sight, equip primary gunfighter and add the foregrip

Perk 1: Low Profile

Perk 2: Blind Eye

Perk 3: Blast Suppressor, perk 3 greed Toughness

No secondary weapon (you won't need it)

Exo Ability Cloak

Kill Streak UAV, Care Package

you can shoot the guys in the bullet proof glass door from behind in there. Also i still suck i use to be good, now im embarrassing bad at 1.1

Thanks for the advice. I have my kd ratio all the way up to 0.48!

Late to the show here, but my boys just picked this up over the weekend. Played some yesterday.

The good thing about getting old and the eyes and reflexes going is that I am not nearly tempted to get addicted to these games as much as I used to. I played about 10 games and had major celebrations when I had a 1:1 ratio.

Aside from my suckitude, this blows Ghosts out of the water. As has been previously observed, it looks much much better. Enjoyed the maps so far, but they seem pretty big so it is going to take plenty of time to find all the best nooks and crannies.

Money Grab.

So I pushed the button on prestige mode last night for the first time. I didn't play Ghosts long enough to prestige, so it has been a while since I did this. My recollection was, however, that when you prestiged, when you unlocked your guns, you retained all of the unlocked attachments, and that prestiging guns was a separate step. I see all of the guns are reset as well, with the exception of the camos. When did this change?

Not sure I would have bothered prestiging as I don't see the point. Not that there was a huge point before. Is there any benefit?

You get extra class slots and armory slots. The attachment bar is set pretty low, so it hasn't been a big issue for me. You also get the XP when you get those things you lost again.

Ah, didn't notice the extra class slots. Will have to fill those in. I like to have multiple builds for weapons I am working on.

This is the last COD I will ever buy. Just tried to download the map pack and realized that the $80 game that normally comes with all the map packs doesn't this year. What a waste. Not to mention all the Exo suits feel like a total ripoff of that other crap game Destiny.

Have they gotten rid of skills-based matchmaking yet? Worst idea ever.

So I played this a whole bunch over the weekend. I mainly play team deathmatch, and I'm a 10-15 kill guy, with 10-15 deaths. +/- is usually within 2 and I'm a career .9 k/d or so. I'm a less than average player and wrote if off to the fact that I'm 41, the eye sight and reflexes are going, and I was never all that good when I was younger either.

All that said, I played a long stretch of games where I believe I was actually hosting (logged in, selected "find game" and other players popped up on my screen a couple at a time instead of being put in with a set group already). I had an amazing string of matches going over 20+ kills each and more often than not only single digit deaths. I got to see how it is on the other side where people would have the drop on me, start shooting at me, I'd turn on them and take them down. This game would be a heck of a lot more fun if that happened on a more regular basis. I wonder if it would be more like that on a regular basis if I upgraded from DSL to broadband internet from the cable company?

Can you expand on that? I don't know what the new matchmaking is or why its a bad idea.

Skill based matchmaking is still there, it sucks.

When I first started playing I learned how to get better by constantly getting my ### kicked by better players, then reaped the rewards when I got better and could smash the worse players.

Only way to make this game fun is to reverse boost.

Skills-based matchmaking (SBMM) is just how it sounds - the game tries to put you into matches with players that it believes are of similar caliber. I have no idea what the criteria is for determining one's skill, but the result has been something less than enjoyable for me.

My main problem with it is that I like to feel like I am getting better and making progress as I play a game more. SBMM eliminates a lot of that for me. In this game, as your K/D or kill rate goes up, SBMM will put you in a tougher lobby and you will have to play even harder/better just to maintain the same K/D and kills. I used to play COD for achievements like getting 70 kills in a game or maintaining a 2+ K/D, but I know I will never be good enough at this game to accomplish either of those things against the best COD players in the world, or even the best in my region.

It would have been much better if they had at come up with some kind of number ranking system to display one's skills. This way, even if my stats aren't improving, my skill ranking is going up and I'm working towards the next level and feeling a sense of accomplishment. They don't have that though. I get that SBMM is good for newer players, but it sucks for veterans.

I pretty much agree with this. If you are going to have skill based matchmaking then implement a way to visualize it. It also ruins coop play in shooters since I team with dainty about 80% of the time she is at a disadvantage most of the time because of this. That's not fair to her and can make people really frustrated. If she played solo it would be better but who wants to run solo when you have friends online? Instead if it is connection based it would work much better due to having the best possible connection, and then whoever you face is whoever you face. If you pubstomp, you pubstomp. If you get smacked around so be it. You can't learn from a game if you dont have good game AND bad games, both ends of the spectrum teach you things. It would work best to have ranked or tournament play for skill based and a casual or quickmatch version for connection if they to feature SKMM.

Part of my has very little sympathy for someone who wants to just be able to pick up the controller and dominate like they are kicking around a bunch of 5 year olds.

On that other hand, it really isn't a very big deal. Anytime I get in a group of people who dominate and I have no chance to compete with, I just leave that lobby and find another game. Not a huge deal.

Fair enough, but the problem is not about dominating or being dominated, its about having fun. And if there's really nothing to accomplish in a game, then I don't really have fun playing it.

This of course refers to playing alone - I still have fun picking up the game (or any game) and playing with friends.

Agreed. When I can sit down and play with my 13 year old, I mostly just have fun for the fun of the game. When I play by myself, I have to give myself some sort of goal, like getting camo's or unlocking equipment. With the change here of resetting all of the weapons every time you prestige, the fun of accomplishing anything I think will wear thin for me. Though, I do think you can prestige a lot faster since the weapons do reset and you ear bonuses pretty quickly, I don't think I'll be doing this 15 times.

Trying to accomplish something related to stats doesn't work for me because I simply will never be that good.

Isn't it time to start a BLOPS3 thread?

AW is the first COD I haven't owned since Blops1. Miss the game a little, but I miss playing with the FBG's most. I jump on the 360 and play Ghosts if I have a little free time, but that isn't much and it sucks playing solo. If IED's were taken out of that game I'd almost say I like it as much as Blops1.

Not sure when Dev's will listen to gamers as pretty much the entire "community" complains about SBMM.

http://charlieintel.com/2015/03/03/xbox-season-pass-holders-get-access-to-the-new-ohm-heavy-weapon-starting-today/

A new patch for Advanced Warfare is now live on Xbox platforms, and it includes a new weapon for Season Pass owners.

If you have the Season Pass on Xbox, a new Heavy Weapon called “Ohm” and a custom variant “Ohm Werewolf” should be unlocked to use in-game.

This new weapon will be included with Advanced Warfare DLC Pack 2 Ascendance. Stay tuned for more information.

The Ohm is a Directed energy weapon with adjustable choke to change between short and long ranges. That basically means that with the press of a button it can switch between being a LMG and a crazy fast shotgun

I can't imagine playing this game that long. I got tired of it after 1 prestige.

Have they gotten rid of skills-based matchmaking yet? Worst idea ever.
Can you expand on that? I don't know what the new matchmaking is or why its a bad idea.

Why? We were all kicked around then got better, the reward should be that we can kick newer players around..then they learn to be better.

I've been playing FPSs on consoles since Halo 1 on the original Xbox. We had a guy who had 8 or so Xbox's he would network connect and we'd have huge games, mostly on Halo 2. I stared playing COD online when those fizzled out. I've never been more than a mediocre player, and have no hopes to. Whether it is skills, or a better connection, or the willingness to fork over money for a top of the line headset, or a better TV, it is what it is for some people.

And now you're probably the best out of the FBGs since GOAT's retirement.

I can attest to a good controller and headset helping a lot too.

After around 4-5 years of :nerd: on equipment I've decided that having good gear is dramatically overrated.

For example, I was hanging out at my sister's house just this past weekend and she had Black Ops 2 on her PS3, I popped it in an played it for the first time in about a year. It was a fresh account so I started from 0, played on a 46" plasma with a moderate NAT and TV on mute. I had no big games or anything but still did fine with stats not far off from my regular playing days (I think 1.7 k/d or something...) over the first 11 levels. A little low on score per minute but that's expected without any good kill streaks opened up.

Activision has announced a new feature called ‘Advanced Supply Drops,’ which will be purchasable Supply Drops within Advanced Warfare.

Since the launch of Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare and the immense personalization of operator gear and weapon variants, players have been asking for more opportunities to secure additional supply drops. Coming soon, Advanced Supply Drops will be available from the in game store, to give you the chance for more Weapon Loot and Character Gear to customize your operator, as well as Reinforcements (Advanced Supply Drops will not include Rapid Supply or Orbital Care Package Reinforcements). Advanced Supply Drops are optional and do not affect the balance of gameplay.

Here is what you will find in each Advanced Supply Drop:

– Three items.
– At least one weapon variant.
– At least one Professional rarity item or better.
– All items come with their own Armory slot; all items can be redeemed for XP.
In addition to acquiring items from the current rotation, you will also have the opportunity to get unique cosmetic gear items found only within Advanced Supply Drops. Be on the lookout for the Eco Custom Exo, items from the Arctic Gear set, and more!
Available individually and in bundles of 3, 5, and 10, with certain bundles including bonus drops. Players will not receive duplicate items within the same bundle. To start with, there will be a limit to how many items an individual can purchase as we roll this out. In a few weeks, we will remove the limit on purchasing.
Activision has not revealed an ETA yet for when this new feature will be available. We’ll update as we learn more about this.
