COD: Black Ops 3 (1 Viewer)

No idea what it is about this version, but I am so much better at this one for some reason. I am consistently getting kills in the high teens or low 20's in most games with maybe 10~12 deaths (although occasionally I still have some bad games.) I typically hovered around a 1.0k/d at best in BlOps & MW2 using a lot of the tips the stud players in these threads gave (such as patrolling the outside of the maps, etc.) I was awful in MW3.

I moved to a new house and upgraded my dsl connection and replaced my Samsung LCD which I learned after the fact from one of the posts on these boards was a horrible tv for gaming. Wouldn't think those things would make this much of a difference though. Seems like the changes to "scorestreaks" just suit my style of play a lot better I guess. I love shooting down UAV's, blowing up equipment, taking flags in Dom, etc. Plus I put up a lot of UAV's so getting a few points for UAV assists is pretty nice too.

I was on for a few hours last night. I was being called out and told I suck :bag: by guys on my team. I was playing KC. I do think I got better the more I played but I never get really good. How do you guys get [FBG] thing in front of your user name?I found that is how I can tell when I am on with someone from here. I saw Mrcreamjeans on last night and played a few games with him.I have fun with this game even though I am not good at it. I will say I was not a fan of hearing "Pistol Pete sucks!!!"
 That wasn't me saying it. Except for the times you killed me of course. I'm still trying to get the hang of the game. I smugly enjoy tossing a betty down when I hear shots so that I get the Afterlife kill. That is the one redeeming aspect of this game.

The first pump action, the MCS I think it's called? With long barrel only. Haven't tried the laser sight... not sure if a more compact hip spray pattern would help or hurt on a close range shotgun...
The KSG was AWFUL the first game I used it. I was unloading on guys close range and wasn't even getting hit markers. :lmao:
I think the KSG is really almost like a sniper rifle. Your cross hair has to be right on them for the slug to hit... but if it does, they are dead.

I tried the KSG for a few rounds and it just seemed way too slow to me. Slow between shots and extremely slow to reload. The Remington works way better for me. It's still a terrible weapon to have if you run into a group of guys.

Speaking of which, ran up into a cabin on Hijacked playing KC last night and there were 4 guys sniping up there. Not a single BB or claymore protecting the steps nor a single guy watching the entrances. I wiped them all out with my PDW in one clip without a single one ever even seeing me. It was awesome.

I had a blast running my pump shotgun setup (with long barrel) on kill confirmed last night, with the B23R pistol as medium/long range backup. Great in KC because you pretty much get all your tags when you kill someone.
Is that the 3-round burst pistol?

I absolutely love the semi-automatic shotgun. Can't remember the name. S-12? I run around like a madman (lightfoot, conditioning, and engineer) spraying shots EVERYWHERE with that thing. I'll shoot a guy 4 or 5 times, just to make sure. Sometimes I'm still shooting as his body goes flying backwards. And then I'm off and running again. I like that it has a pretty big clip, so I can kill 2 or 3 guys before I reload. And I've been using the automatic pistol as a secondary so I can switch quickly to that if i'm in a pinch.

I also tried breaking in the KSG last night and didn't like it either. I did it enough to unlock the long barrel so I'll try it with that but it definitely didn't wreak havoc like I thought it would. I'm also trying out the SCAR and it's better for midrange for sure, but most encounters I have are close where the SMG's outshine. Guess I'll stick with the MSMC

I was a bit PDW proponent at first, but I'm now more than sold on the Skorpion.

In fact, on the rare occasion I've used a PDW or MSMC anymore, it's very frustrating how long it takes for people to die. Skorpion will lay dudes out very quickly. I prefer it at both close and longer ranges (for SMGs).

If this updated chart is accurate, the "time to kill" isn't even close amongst SMG's.

Skorpion is tied for tops in short ranges (with PDW/MSMC/Chicom).

It's essentially tied with the Chicom at longer ranges, both far quicker than all the rest.

There certainly isn't enough recoil difference to make up for the TTK difference (Skorpion feels like even less recoil to me).

I've found that putting a red-dot on the MSMC makes it just like an assault rifle to me and I prefer it to the Skorpion in medium to long ranges.

I could see that, depending exactly what type of range you're talking about. But I very rare take a shot longer than, say, anything longer than the middle part of the Hijacked boat (distance from balcony to balcony).

Weird. I always feel like I'm shooting rubber bullets when using the Skorpion. Plus it runs out of ammo so quickly that if you run into 2 guys at once you're pretty much screwed. Maybe I've just had bad connections whenever I've tried it. But I've had it take me over an entire clip to put someone down. I'm just not sure that I can give up the 65 bullet clip of the PDW when it has extended mags. You can fire forever with that thing.

It is a little annoying going from the 65 clip PDW to the Skorpion, but with E-Clip, it's manageable. A triple kill is nearly impossible for me with the Skorpion, even with E-Clip (very doable with PDW).Certainly, there's a trade off with the two. I'm just on a Skorpion kick at the moment.

The hidden advantage of sucking at this game is that you don't have to concern yourself too much with the possibility of running out of ammo. I can barely recall what the reload animation on the remington looks like; I'd usually dead before I get all eight shots out.

Running Engineer and BlackHat saves you a lot of headaches if you are the type to rush. Engineer because it lets me spot those god forsaken bouncing bettys and BlackHat to take down the UAVs that my noob teammates give up.

:lmao: I know what you mean. That was mean on the original BO and on MW3 for the most part. A lot of it was due to my style which I've drastically changed for BO2. When I first started playing BO I was dumbfounded that you could actually live long enough to run out of ammo. It's a pretty awesome (and terrifying) feeling the first time you completely run out and have to grab another gun. I think the first time I ever ran out I went to grab another gun and picked it up only to find that there were like 3 bullets left in it.

Yeah, I've been liking Engineer a lot. It has saved me from losing my Streak multiple times. Always so annoying to run into a shock stick or bouncing betty. And blackhat is awesome when playing Domination on Meltdown. People love to put Guardians and turrets at B flag and you can hack them from inside the tunnel underneath B.

What perks do you end up giving up there though? Is Engineer Perk 3? I pretty much always have Extreme Conditioning and Dexterity there.

I had the same experience. It wasn't until I added the laser site to the long barrel did I see a big improvement. Still very connection dependent though.

Engineer is perk 3. With such small maps I never use extreme conditioning.

I did manage to get a C4 quad on the B flag on Drone last night. The other team threw a smoke grenade on B so I ran up to it and chucked a C4 on it not even knowing how many they had there.

It was totally rad when I clicked the RB button and saw the quad feed. :lmao:

I have a class with Engineer and Dexterity and another with Engineer and EC. Which one I use is map dependent. A map where I don't climb much like Hijacked I go Engy/EC. If I'm on a map like Cargo with a lot of climbing and jumping I go Engy/Dexterity.

Is it just me or have they made FJ worthless in this game? It does not stop Hunter Killers and I've died from bouncing betties too.

Ghost/Hardline or Lightweight/Hardline is what I usually go with.

No way... after I prestiged I had an awful time trying to play domination without it. It is a lifesaver vs. nades, and usually betties.eta - if I prestige again, I will keep FJ as my unlock (kept Ghost first time around)

Yeah, I tend to run right through the BBs when I am wearing it. I guess if you are moving slow it wouldn't make much differenceETA: (since I saw your ETA Worm....I unlocked FJ as my first perm unlock)

With my shotgun class I give up Dexterity, but the Quickdraw attachment on the shotgun sort of compensates for it. I think the actual class I was using last night for my shotgun wasR870 w/Long Barrel & QuickdrawLightweight / HardlineExtreme Conditioning / EngineerBlackHatIt kind of sucks not being able to carry stuns, since I'll often have the drop on someone but not be in shotgun range, but it's a small price to pay to counter the camping equipment and air support.

Yeah, I dropped Hardline/Perk 1 Greed and Dexterity/Perk 3 Greed so I could keep C4 and the crossbow (for long range situations). I also ditched Quick Draw for laser site. The KSW doesn't need to reload very often.

I played Cargo for the first time last night. That map came up and I was like WTF is this? :lmao:

Can someone explain to me how to keep these perks?I prestiged last week, and wasn't given an option to keep them..........or in my drunken state I got confused.

It won't tell you that you have the option. Go to your Create a Class menu, and go as if you were going to equip that gun/perk/whatever. You should see a button to press to use "permanent unlock". PS3, it's triangle, I believe.

You have to wait until you get to level 4 after you prestige to keep something.

wat? So, you prestige and do nothing......but wait until level 4?You're ####### with me, right?

What is the difference between ghost and blind eye? Does blind eye protect against UAVs?
No. Ghost protects against UAVs. Blind Eye makes you undetectable to enemy AI controlled Scorestreaks. So the stealth chopper, AI controlled AGR and AI controlled turrets won't shoot at you.

How does black hat take out uavs? Air support?Just point up?
Hold in the button like you are tossing out another piece of equipment and a little circle will appear like a reticle. Aim it at what you want to take out and when the meter fills up it will destroy it. Some larger things (like the Stealth Chopper) take more than 1 black hat to take them down.

what's this?
Badger is dipping into his 1980's slang. Pro tip- double tap X to detonate C4. That way you can have your primary out and still be able to detonate.

No, you have to wait until you can make custom classes to keep something.

I can't even play this game anymore without getting absolutely frustrated. Spawning and dying within 2 seconds is pissing me off.
I haven't had any issues with the spawns in this game. IMO they're the best in any COD to date.
Except Hijacked. Hijacked sucks. And after playing a few more rounds of Hardpoint, it seems almost definite that it is programmed to spawn in the dead team that had the last hardpoint right next to the new one. That's just dumb.

On a lot of the smaller maps, it's easy to grab the hardpoint right off the bat. Earlier today I played a round on Carrier and had three insta-captures because I knew where the next one was going to be, so I camped there once the timer on the current point got down to :10 or so. There's an excellent chance that somebody on the enemy squad was doing that to you.

You know what, I actually had my modes confused. I was thinking about Headquarters. But they were games where we slaughtered the opponents and each time we'd take a headquarter, we'd hold it for a while, the last person would die, and our whole team would spawn in next to the new headquarter.

After switching to a shotgun class, I've started enjoying the game more. My K/D has dropped a bit, but it's much more fun. Need to unlock Ghost though (level 48 atm)
