Holy crap died playing the last song of his 70th birthday show surrounded by monsters of rock.

If you were in the south in the early-mid 90's then there is no doubt you probably saw him play.  He was a huge influence to the jam band scene.

Holy cow what a way to go out!  Last saw him doing lovelight with the allman brothers in 2009 and he stole the show. Rip colonel

Thats freaking crazy.  I was on twitter looking at some photos of all the pre-show socializing and said to my wife that he wasn't looking too good.  What a legend though. 

I've only seen him play with Panic a handful of times.  He was always such high energy.  I'm headed to New Orleans for a work trip tomorrow but was going to catch Panics set at Jazz Fest on Thursday...that show just became a little more important.
