Coles or Cotchery (1 Viewer)

Favre throws the ball to whoever is open and now that Coles seems to be getting healthy he's built more trust in him. I don't think there's a favorite target honestly.

Haven't watched much Jets football....what is the scoop on that?
After receiving a seemingly icy welcome from Laveranues, who liked Pennington, Favre has made it clear the last few weeks that he likes Coles. Has called him a "play-maker" and said something along the lines of *you have to get the ball to your play-maker.* Coles' numbers have gone up every week. Cotchery is a good receiver, Favre does find the open guy well (shoot, retract that... Favre is the ALL-TIME GREATEST at finding the open receiver) so as long as CCK (Cloes, Cotchery, and Keller) continue to get open the J-E-T-S should continue to score points in bunches. All of this is simply my opinion and I offer no links.

Cotch caught 10 balls 2 games ago and 2 TDs last game... you do the math.

Lavernous had 3 TD's last game and another the game before.Coles started off the year dinged up. He's slowly built a rapport with Farve and he's not going to catch 3 TD's every game, but it's clear Farve is looking his way.Farve will throw to whomever is open, so instead of doing any math you need to figure out who you think is the better receiver because that's who Farve will throw the ball to.

They're both good plays. Cotchery has Favre's eye deep, and Coles has Favre's eye in the red zone, particularly working the back of the end zone while running parallel to the back line. They also had Coles run a fade just like he did for Pennington. They're 0 catches, 14 yards, and 1 TD apart over 4 games - which is a good representation of their relative value. If I had to pick one, it would be Coles, only because he seems to be more in tune with Favre when the play lasts more than three seconds, but it's based on a limited sample size.

I think this is about right. Last week Favre said only one of those TD throws to Coles was the original plan. The other two TD's Coles caught, he just happened to be open.

When he arrived he went up to Coles and told him he had nothing against Pennington, the trade wasn't his idea, etc.Brett will throw to anyone who catches the ball. He doesn't care about anything but winning. Add TJ and Keller to that list.

Cotchery should be the bigger threat(Jennings), Coles the possession receiver(Driver).

he started slow, but i noticed this as well. good news for Coles owners that he's catching up now.i agree that it seems they will both do well.

I don't see either WR emerging over the other. I also don't see Cotchery as Favre's deep threat vs, Coles, both are more possession type recievers. I see Stuckey as the deep threat at least until Clowney is ready to play again. That doesn't mean C&C won't score any long ones, but I don't them as deep threats in particular.

This is the correct answer for this thread.

There was no icy welcome. Coles was hurt during preseason and barely played with Favre. Everyone jumped on the Cotchery bandwagon and talked about how he had better on-field chemistry with Favre. Well, yeah, since Coles wasn't on the field, Sorry, but this drove me nuts in August. So now, Coles snd Favre have had time to get their timing down and both Cotchery and Coles are getting the ball.

Doesn't Coles have substantially better speed than Cotchery? I thought Coles was about 4.18 and Cotch about 4.54 in the 40?

If so, that doesn't really translate into the Driver/Jennings analysis does it? (Driver is great, but no speed merchant).

Cotchery isn't as good as Jennings. Driver isn't as good as Coles.
I disagree with both. But from a fantasy perspective, I think the analogy applies. Coles will be targeted often like Driver was whereas Cotchery will get more big plays like Jennings did. Bottom line is both are looking like good to strong WR2s all season long - especially in PPR leagues.

There was an icy welcome. Coles was very candid about not being happy that Chad was being run out of town for Favre and basically said he was a Pennington guy.

I could be wrong, but I think Coles has the edge here. In the blowout win against Arizona, I believe the Jets built a 34-0 haltime lead with Coles, not Cotchery. If the Cardinals had gone to sleep Cotchery would have had a quiet day. Also, when they lost to the Chargers, Cotchery was getting the short garbage-time looks, even from the backup QB. In a regular game, it seems like Coles has been getting the earlier looks and Cotchery has been relying on circumstances to catch up.

It's only been a few games, so it could all change after the bye. But that's what I've interpreted so far.
