Honestly for me it's Taylor Swift and Donald Trump that solidified me not watching this years game.
Seriously? I get that overexposure to anyone not directly involved is annoying, but just look the other way when they pop on. It's easy and effective.

But sounds like your lack of interest runs deeper than seeing shots of POTUS and Ms Swift during the broadcast
Agreed. No clue how much the president will be shown, but people who have tracked it have eemonstrated that Swift is almost always shown for less than 60 seconds at games that she attends. I can't imagine being so bothered by someone that seeing them for 45 seconds in a game that will last close to 4 hours in real time, but we all have our own cross to bear.
Yeah, I’ve never seen red blooded American men get so angry about a good looking woman being shown on their televisions before. To each their own I guess
Taylor Swift is not good looking. :scared:
Good enough for that mook.

I didn't watch most of the playoffs. I won't be watching the Super Bowl. I hate the Chiefs. I've hated them for decades. I have no interest in seeing a Three-peat. I'm taking the dog to the dog park, donating blood, and stream something. I'll check the score at some point and only tune in if it's an Eagles rout.

This is the pee in the shower two types of people statement. There are only two groups; those who do, and those who lie about it. Anyone who is legitimately not watching the Super Bowl is 99% a casual fan who has also not watched it in years past. I'm sure there will be some 1%ers reading this insisting they are avid football fans but also not watching this SB and all I can say is I think you are either a liar or part of a near nil minority.

Not enjoying it, not liking the teams in it, not liking the fan bases of the teams in it, not liking the half time show, etc. etc. etc. is all valid. "Boycotting watching" because of any of this is a lie or a misdirect.
I am not watching but I am a casual fan of the NFL at this point in my life. I barely watched any games this season and when I did I was disappointed in the product for reasons most of you could guess. I have been watching less NFL for the last few years.

I am a big sports guy. I coach. My wife coaches. My teenage daughter plays multiple sports. I am more interested in sport/competition than fanfare and the NFL and SB just dont excite me any longer. I don’t even know who is doing the halftime show so that isn’t an excuse either way.

I haven’t watched the last few SBs and don’t miss it. I will probably play my guitar and then watch whatever my wife and daughter put on. They won’t be watching the SB. Yesterday, I asked my daughter if she was interested in the SB and she asked what that means! The kid is busy playing b ball for the school and travel v ball right now so she doesn’t really watch much of anything. She’s at practices and games 7 days a week.
Heard that, and I see a lot of that over the past 3-4 years from my friends and family members. They just kinda fell off from being avid, 8 hours Sunday of straight to the vein football fans. Those people not watching the SB makes complete sense to me. I think some people view "casual fan" as an insult but that's definitely not how I meant it. In some ways I almost consider myself more of a casual fan at this point. I still main line football all season, but while I used to be a hardcore Steelers fan and all of my watching was largely based around that; in recent years I've found myself sometimes turning off their dedicated game just to watch Redzone or a more entertaining one instead. I watch now more for gambling and fantasy and am probably more of a fan of the sport at this point than a fan of an actual team like most people watching. That might change back if they ever get a decent QB though lol.

You aren't nearly as invested in either a team or the sport as a whole so 100% makes sense. But to watch nearly every game all season long and not watch the pinnacle one, just doesn't happen IMO. It's an unbelievably small number of people. Definitely much, much smaller than the number who proclaim it at least. It'd be like watching every episode of Breaking Bad or the Sopranos and then not watching the finale because you didn't like the way it was going. GoT might actually be the best example here because we saw a similar thing happening. People didn't like the way the last season was playing out so they said they wouldn't watch the finale in protest (or fill in the blank reason here). Then you'd see those same exact people a few weeks later complaining about how bad the finale was after they watched it haha. It's semi comical in reality. Kind of like when I was still on social media and people would announce they are leaving FB groups as though the rest of the members care (or will even notice) their absence. I get their frustration, and a lot of valid points on how the product can be argued has declined over the years. But on the other hand, everyone is invested. And even hate watching to root against teams/players will pull a draw. Plus 3 in a row is historical. Never happened before and may never happen again in most people's life times.

No, but I will check the final score to see if the Eagles lost. That would be glorious if they did. They should lose.
I really don't understand the hate.
That’s because you are not a Cowboys fan
I guess so. I'm a Player fan and my FF endeavors steer me into different teams. I have no more team to cheer. Spanos took that away. I would love to see Saquon Barkley get a ring. After all he's been through I think he deserves it. As for Philly fans I find them knowledgeable and welcoming. In the Eagles thread I never think twice- I just post.
I love Eagles fans because they throw snowballs at Santa Clause and beat the :poop: out of opposing fans on occasions when they get too rowdy. Love the movie Invincible. I’m sure Vince Papale will be cheering them on.

Yeah, they're awesome.

Pick one team, in any professional sport, and I will find you a video of their horrible fans.

PS - no one likes idiotic fans
Sure, but Eagles fan go above and beyond. Like I said, they have the reputation of being the worst fanbase in all of football for a reason, and it's not because "everyone else is the same".

Look at bladerunners profile and his posts. 99% eagles hate. Its sad
So not only are Eagles fans considered the worst fanbase in all of professional sport, but also they appear not to be good at math either.

I DARE you to actually do the REAL math, but I won't be surprised if you don't since you'll have to admit you were lying the entire time.

But you seem to be really good at hyperbole and exaggeration.

Maybe if people had money riding on or were big fans of the white walkers they wouldn’t be interested in the last fight between people they didn’t care about, as the game they actually cared about (regular season / battle of winterfell) was over.

Last day here in CR, wore a different Eagles hat every day so far. Met one KC fan, lol he had an all black murderer out Chiefs hat on he had to point it out to me. I was just like “not that confident eh?” And he puttered away.

Two nights ago, some old dude in a walker comes up to our table “Ya know I shouldn’t rooting for the Eagles”

Cowboys fan?

“No, Giants”

HAHA THABK YOU SO KUCH FOR SAQUON WE ARE REALLY SHOWING PEOPLE HOW TO USE HIM CORRECTLY - GO BIRDS!

He just then kinda shimmied away without a word.

No, outside of a good snowfall, Super Bowl Sunday is the best time to hit the river... empty.

Fly-fishing>>>>NFL anything (including SB).

Its White Castle and Universal Studios for me. Then maybe White Castle again.

Not a bad way to spend a sunny, 80° day in February.

Poll answer? YES

i would watch regardless of teams involved. I appreciate the magnitude of the game for those teams and players. Halftime show has not interested me in 20+ years, although occasionally i catch a glimpse. Usually do not pay attention to commercials and catch them afterwards. Good ones last.

As far as reputations go? Here's the thing. Reputations are not a reliable source for helping determine whether or not an individual or a group of like minded people is inherently "good" or "bad." The reputation being used as the basis for such determinations could be honestly earned, or, it could be maliciously applied by another in an effort to tarnish that person and cloud the minds of others. There is no guarantee, or any way of knowing if, the supposed reputation being used is valid or not. Using "reputation" as a basis for determining the general morality of a specific group of football fans is not a convincing argument of proof. In fact, "reputation" brings zero proof to the table. Anyone using a supposed reputation as proof of their argument being correct already had their mind made up previously and are too lazy to look for more convincing evidence. Besides, the faulty determination fits their agenda.

Yes, I am going to watch my BIRDS crush the Chiefs!!!

Almost 7 months, over 200 days and 29 Sundays until we have another NFL game that means anything and people who actually take time to come onto a fantasy message board in February and all times of the year are saying they won't watch but will instead do activities they could literally do in almost any of those 200 empty football gamedays left. Wierdos.

This will be the 4th SB in 7 years I won't watch. Up until then I watched every one since Super Bowl X. I just don't care like I used to.

Besides, it's 80° and sunny all weekend, way too nice to be inside watching 2 teams I couldn't care less about. I might watch the Halftime show on YouTube Monday though.

Can you elaborate more on this as I think it's interesting.

I know you're a huge fan. Are you saying if your team isn't in, you don't have an interest?

And is that what other folks here are saying who aren't watching? If your team isn't in, you're not interested?

I'd have to assume nearly every person in the Shark Pool is a football fan, right?

I would say so, but for some reason several of them feel the need to tell you that they aren’t watching and why. Like those watching the game would be jealous of their amazing lives. Some even need to do it several times in the same thread. The fact that nobody cares hasn’t seemed to hit home with them yet.

Enjoy the game everyone. Well those watching anyway 😎

Nah, I'm just over watching Mahomes in yet another SB. It bores me, like Brady being in so many before him bored me.

If Mahomes wasn't playing, I'd probably watch. I enjoyed the Rams - Bengals Super Bowl, but thats the only Super Bowl in the last 9 years (including tomorrow's) that didnt have Mahomes and/or Brady in it.

In fact, 9 of the last 11 Super Bowls had either Mahomes or Brady. It's too much. I'm just not interested.

As a Cowboys fan, I have still watched every SB since Dallas was in the SB. I just love football. I live at the beach and it is 80° today, but I will still cook out and watch the game tomorrow. I might go out for a walk or bike ride at halftime.

Interesting. I didn't read anything remotely like them telling us we should "be jealous of their amazing lives". I just read they weren't watching and I was wondering why.

I know some fanbases are hyper focused on their team.

I remember visiting Pittsburgh one December and on Monday night there was a big game on. I think it was maybe Washington and Dallas. Classic matchup on Monday Night Football.

We were at a restaurant with a huge bar and probably 15 TVs. Every single one was on the Penguins game and not Monday Night Football.

It hit me then that Pittsburgh wasn't so much a Football town. They were a Steelers town. And it made sense.

I'm guessing lots of people are like that.

It reminds me of a few calls I've heard on my local sports radio station. People take the time to not just call but stay on hold to proclaim how "local team free" they are. Yet there they are talking about that team instead of doing all those wonderful things they are supposed to be doing.

Yeah. Pretty funny. “I don’t care but I’ll spend all this time making sure people know I don’t care dammit”!

Only Super Bowl I ever missed was Seahawks/ Steelers in 2005. Awesome new GF and we were in Newport Coast for the week. For some reason, football just didn’t seem that important 🍻

Feel free to start your own thread if you don't like what's in this one. The reason I started it was to see how many people arent watching, and if not, to find out what they'll be doing instead. Your obsession with me is so bizarre.

And trust me, my life is far from amazing. But you keep trolling if it makes you feel better.

Good point and it didn’t last. But she had several assets that made not watching the game a mutual decision so I gave her a pass. Plus it was the fffffffffing Seahawks so there’s that.

“I don’t care but I’ll spend all this time making sure people know I don’t care dammit”!

Nobody is saying that here. Please drop the back and forth with the other poster on that.

I am interested in how many people don't have an interest in this one. I wonder if it's always the case.

I'll be watching the game as always.

I'm a huge fan of fantasy football, yes. Season ended weeks ago, along with my interest. Not really a big "team" fan anymore... just give me the stats.

Last Super Bowl I watched was PHI vs NEP (daughter was in town... big Eagles fan). Not really sure why... it just became a hard "sport" for me to watch. All the replays and HD camera stuff has sucked a lot of life out of it for sure. And this love affair the NFL has with gambling is very cringe-worthy as well.

FWIW - I don't watch professional wrestling anymore either.

Competing against my friends. One league, same guys since 1993, play for little money. At this point we've grown up together. Fantasy football keeps us connected. We go about our lives with little contact... until August... then we're busting chops and chatting all the time.

I think he is still mourning back to back loses in the SB to the Chiefs....so seeing them AGAIN is kind of like watching your ex girlfriend make out with your best friend....

That does suck, but for me it started after the Pats comeback vs the Falcons in the SB. At that point I was done watching Brady win rings. Then Mahomes took over and it got old quick. I can always watch online later if I feel the need, I don't need to see it live.

I need a flip back and forth and half-watch option. Zero enthusiasm for this game and zero enthusiasm for the agenda that surely will be pushed by the broadcaster that is apart from the game.

Not waking up at 1/2am to watch the Chiefs rig another one.
Meh, even if you told me Eagles were gonna pull one out, I still wouldn't.

I care so much more about fantasy than the actual game now.

That's awesome. So for you and your league, would you say it's more about the community and connection than it is about the NFL?

I can understand getting bored with Brady and Mahomes winning. I remember getting bored with Michael Jordan winning then later realized he was retired and I’d missed some of the most iconic, classic moments in NBA history. I can imagine telling my grandkids about seeing the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history playing on the world’s biggest stage. They probably won’t care I guess but I don’t want to have lived through it but not watched.

I don’t care who wins tonight. Don’t care about either team but am hoping for a good game between the two best NFL teams this season. We might even see history as the Chiefs have a chance to tie the Packers long-standing record for most consecutive championships, although the Packers have done it twice so will still have a leg up on that one.

I am a Bills fan not an NFL fan. Won’t be watching but have probably watched less than half the last decade so it isn’t a boycott or a statement of some kind.

I sometimes tune in for the 4th quarter if the game looks good at the end.
