Colin Kaepernick Thread and related anthem kneeling issues/news (4 Viewers)

This is what happens when a bankrupt party starts making apolitical things political. We get laws requiring or forbidding certain speech.

This is where somebody taking this cause up as a political cause becomes a disaster for free speech law and practice. Kaep, in my opinion, is a complete and abject moron (I've watched bits of his Netflix special. The part where he says Carlton is in Fresh Prince to appease white people is something else.) but the response to him was worse by the other side. They made this idiot a hero to some people. Activists from MSNBC love him and listen to him.

It's a joke, and no laws should flow therefrom.

:lmao:   The party of outrage making this claim is hilarious
This is what I thought as well. We watched and liked it (needed less Mary J and more Em) but him kneeling never crossed our minds that is was a protest or whatever. Not until I turned on CNN and then ESPN the next day, did I even think this was a thing.

Did anyone know he knelt?  Does anyone care what he does?
I didn't until the next day.

I just thought it was a dramatic moment to take attention away from himself and let Dr. Dre have the limelight at the piano.

I try to be woke, but I'm not very good at it.

I thought it was a great show. One of my favorites despite not really being in my wheelhouse...

Does anyone care that Eminem knelt during the SB halftime show?

No, we thought it was out of respect for Dr. Dre. Showing Dre his respect.

If it was for Kappy that is cool too.  Just never thought about it at the time,

Ohhh..Em was fine but I thought Mary J sang her pattotey off.   She gave it all.

This was a result of Tom Brady unretiring, and this Tweet.

Colin Kaepernick @Kaepernick7 18h

For The past 5 years I’ve been working out and staying ready in case an opportunity to play presented itself. I’m really grateful to my trainer, who I’ve been throwing to all this time. But man, do I miss throwing to professional route runners. Who’s working?? I will pull up

Depends on his true desire to work to get back in the show.

The Hamilton Tiger Cats still hold the rights to Kappy and just heard on local radio they would welcome him to play in the CFL professional football league. After 5 years away from playing a NFL game, a year in the CFL to work off the rust and showcase his skills would be a great opportunity for Kappy.

Warren Moon ,Doug Flutie, Joe Theisman, Jeff Garcia, Vince Ferrigamo among others used the CFL as a gateway to the NFL.

I wish that you would quit calling him "Kappy" as that is a nickname I have never seen anyone use, including, friends, family, NFL sportswriters or even his teammates.

That said, the CFL has been a dead end, not a gateway for QBs in the last couple decades with Jeff Garcia being the last to make a successful transition to the NFL in 1999.

You this dude's mom or something?  You have zero control on what nickname someone wants to call him.  Who really cares what you wish someone would quit calling him?

Kappy isn't ever playing in the NFL again.  He was never more than a meh QB and there's no reason to think he's gotten any better.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 3h

Colin Kaepernick is still working out and is said to be, in the words of one source, “in the best shape of his life. He wants to play. He’s ready play. He would be a great fit for teams with QB vacancies to fill who want to win a Super Bowl.”

I genuinely hope he succeeds in getting back into the NFL, but it's a bit ridiculous to suggest he is the missing piece that any franchise needs to win it all.

Speak For Yourself

@SFY

@EmmanuelAcho

: Colin Kaepernick must answer this question: "How can you compare the NFL to slavery and still want to play?"

Jim Harbaugh called him Kappy on an interview years ago.

Kappy has not played in 5 years.  That is a dead end.

Showcase your skills, make someone look at you.  Like Steven A. said..he does not want to play football.

No disrespect, I want to see Kappy back in the league. I wish the Lions would give him a shot.

I don't believe that in a second, especially after your "Have Kaerpernic join the CFL" post and "then become an NFL star" after no one has done in since Jeff Garcia in 1999.

As one might think with Tom Brady, who is a hell of a lot older than Kaep (not saying Kaep is as close to being as good of a player).

Brady just threw for 5350 yards and 43 TDs vs 12 INTs last season.

Kappy has not played in a game for 5 seasons.

Yes, but the point I was responding to was "His time has passed" which makes no sense when Brady is almost a decade older.

I do think his time has passed.

Many ex-players work out all the time looking to roll the dice just one more time.

Some will win, some will lose, and some will just sing the blues.
