Colin Kaepernick Thread and related anthem kneeling issues/news (24 Viewers)

Dude, four people bumped this thread today before I responded, so it is not me that can't let it go.

What are you thinking at this point that the Raiders have not signed Kappy?  Is it officially over for him?

I wanted to actually see him play again at least in X season but that is not looking good now.

Just one guy, not his "teammates" - as I noted the mods said you can use this, so go ahead and call him that.

Ok..forget that name nonsense. Lets stay on point.

What do you think his future holds as far as NFL prospects go now that he was not signed by the Raiders? Do you think he will get another tryout anywhere?

LOL..it was All-Pro TE Vernon Davis.    Squis gets off topic when he is asked direct questions.

Since he follows Kappy the most in this thread I just wanted to know what he thinks but he won`t answer.

Once again. according to the mods you and everyone else are free to call him Kappy. I am also free not to respond if I don't wish to, as answering everyone's questions has not yet become mandatory.

But you post every update on Colin for the last 6 years and have over 2300 posts on him.  all of a sudden you don`t want to talk about him?  I know you are invested on this topic, just want some dialogue as to what you think.

So do you think he will play in the NFL this season?

I think he will have a good shot at making a roster as a backup once we get into the season when the inevitable QB injuries start. The Raiders have blazed the trail and the predicted media and/or fan backlash never materialized. If nothing else, some other teams will at least be taking a look at him and kicking the tires (so to speak).

@ShamsCharania

Sources: Colin Kaepernick is investing in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league, which was on the verge of potentially shutting down. Kaepernick’s new deal will help the 3-on-3 competition continue operating and growing.

Yeah, clearly spending time trying to be a quarterback

Maybe Kappy is thinking of competing

Making a financial investment and trying to be a quarterback are not mutually exclusive.

How is this clown still in the news?  Only starting kneeling and being Mr social justice after losing his qb job.   What a fing joke.  Only thing worse than this guy is the people who garble his nuts

That is your opinion, which I don't share.

34 years old - hasn't played in 6 years?   Yeah, he's done.  No one is going to invest in that.

34 is ancient in football years.  Less so for QBs but, y'know, he hasn't played in 6 years and hasn't been a starter in 7.  No one is signing him.

The BIG3 league when I watched seemed more like a 1-2 times a year special type of thing.  Was not a good product.

It does keep the guys who never made it bit and the old players in the game though and getting a paycheck.

Well, let's face it, he doesn't want to be signed.  He has been made a martyr by certain parts of the media, and he knows coming back and flopping would put a dent in that fake label, so by staying off the field, he can keep playing up the martyr angle by doing this "I still want to play" shtick every once in a while, while still collecting fat checks from Nike and laughing all the way to the bank.

It's a win-win for him.  He gets Virtue Cash $$$$$ and Virtuous Fame and doesn't have to take any of the hits and grind of an NFL season.

All the sugar, none of the calories!!!

We are talking about being a backup QB not a starter and not much of an investment to take a flier late in the season when many teams need depth or a backup due to injuries.

If you look at the some of the starters or players signed as backups in the last few seasons, several were in Kaep's age range and most had never won a playoff game, let alone a conference championship or had gone to a Super Bowl.

Yeah that's it.

I see he's still living rent free.  People just can't quit whining about him and how he hurt their feelings.

Haven't thought about this guy until I saw his name pop up on the front page of this forum.

My feelings?    I can't stand him.

Not for the kneeling or his views.   But for  being totally full of crap.   You and others believe his actions are some kind of noble stand.   But its nothing more than selfish attempts to profit and stay relevant.

Here's a quick history lesson on your hero.   Correct me if I'm wrong.

He was really bad at football when he last played.  Lost his job to Blaine Gabbert.  Blaine Gabbert!   Then he starts kneeling in the preseason after being benched.  He was about to be cut but the kneeling brought attention so the 49ers couldn't just cut him for bad PR.

Has no record of doing anything for any social cause until he lost his job.

OK...Yes, Kaep lost his job to Gabbert, but it was because he was recovering from injuries and wasn't completely healthy, not because Gabbert was the better QB.

Sept. 3, 2016 — First-year 49ers coach Chip Kelly gives Blaine Gabbert the starting QB job over Kaepernick, who is still recovering a pair of offseason surgeries (thumb, knee) on top of the shoulder surgery that ended his 2015 season.

To complicate matters, his contract was guaranteed for two years. The 49ers concern over his health kept him on the bench until that issue was taken care of:

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/colin-kaepernick-kneeling-protest-timeline/xktu6ka4diva1s5jxaylrcsse

Oct. 7, 2016 — Kaepernick agrees to restructure his contract with the 49ers. The new deal eliminates his guaranteed money for 2017, voids the last three years of the contract and gives Kaepernick the right to opt out after 2016. Prior to the renegotiation, Kaepernick protects himself with a $7.5 million loss-of-value insurance policy.

Oct. 11, 2016 — Kelly announces Kaepernick will make his season debut as the 1-4 49ers' starter in Week 6 against the Bills. He completes only 13 of 29 passes in a 45-16 loss but remains San Francisco's starter the rest of the season.

Well training camp has started, and it looks like the end of the road for this thread as far as football goes.  Raiders kicked the tires but did not sign Kappy after a bad workout.

No other team has any interest. Seems like he kept the NFL thingy alive to keep his name out there.

I really wanted to see Kappy in camp in a couple of X games to see if he had any tread left on the tires but it did not work out.

He's going to need to find some new, imaginary injustice to protest now.

Patience grasshopper. Once we get into the season and the attrition starts among QBs due to injuries, he will at least be given a look by some teams, particularly late in the season (you remember who the league signed out of desperation near the of the season in the last couple years?).

It's been like that EVERY year for the last 6 years and not a single team looked at him.
