College All Star games? (1 Viewer)

Why?

Guys bailing out of their bowl game but we have these games....?  Do the scouts really need one more game....really?  No they don't.

Sooner or later somebody is going to get seriously hurt and it will cost him his draft status, will that put an end to that foolishness?

I tried to watch one of these games today, just couldn't do it, no intensity and didn't care who won.  But....did learn something, some D2 guy returned 14 kicks to score in his career, that's incredible.

It’s more about the practices than the actual game.  They get to see what players take instruction and apply it to their skill. They also get a sense of overall work ethic and demeanor. The game is just the carrot at the end of the week.

Also....what’s....with....the....four....dot....elipses?  I see you do that a lot, I had to actively fight against my iPad to write out that first sentence in that manner.

It really helps a lot of kids out to get to work with NFL coaches and scouts. There’s a kid from Slippery Rock who was invited to one or the lower level all star games and the buzz on him during practice week was so huge, he just got a Senior Bowl invite. He might even end up making it in the NFL because of this.

Those kids haven't played football in weeks, do they really need an actual game?

That would suck but really isn't what I do.

But....did they learn anything?

BUT (pause)  did they learn anything?

I like that pause.

Is it really some big deal?

I get all that but they really don't need another game being so many of them haven't played in awhile.

You never want to use one race, one meet, one game as a true barometer for anything.  You look at the body of work, the history there is.

Don't like putting these kids in this situation.

False equivalence. These kids aren’t the ones sitting out bowl games.
Yep. These are kids who get to show their wares against other players at a similar level if they weren’t at top schools and first rounders don’t play in these games unless they weren’t considered that before they excelled. I met Darius Leonard (might end up DROY) at O’Hare in line to go back to Charlotte (near his home). I would never have approached him to talk about the draft if I didn’t see his Reese’s Senior Bowl sweatshirt. He was visiting with the Bears. I can only imagine what their D would have been like if the Colts hadn’t snagged him right before the Bears pick.

Just stop. The body of work for the player I mentioned about was at SC State. If they just went by that, he’s not an early 2nd rounder. You can get hurt at the combine as well.

They don't need another football game. It's ridiculous. and should be real obvious.

If that was the case then the NFL people need to make it very clear......hey guys play in your bowl game, we need see more of you.

How many players have suffered serious injuries in the Senior Bowl or other All-Star games? I think overall it has done these players way more good than harm. No one is forcing them to play as far as I can tell which should tell you they think it's good for their careers.

The guys that sit out Bowl games already know the NFL does NOT need to see more of them.

It's simply not needed.  These guys have been playing since HS, they don't need one more game at all, it's silly.

I think they have been trying to.  Just a thought.
Let's see how that first round of the next NFL drafts goes. All star games, bailing on a bowl game, won't matter at all,  not even a little bit.

You play in your bowl game, you let everyone know you care about your team and love the game, tha tis what a smart player does. This.....all about me...is a bad look.

All star games are a joke,  a total waste of time.
