College Scouts: How does the '11 QB class compare (1 Viewer)

Luck, Mallett and Locker have all been mentioned as being better prosepcts that Clausen (the 3nd QB taken in the 2010 draft). But whats the story here?

How would you rate the following?

Stafford

Sanchez

Freeman

Bradford

Clausen

Mallett

Luck

Locker

Ryan

Flacco

seems like a late first/early second can land one of these 2011 QBs. But is it worst giving up a young QB to get one of the 2011 class in return?

wheres tebow?

i think if there was a redraft it would go:

ryan

flacco

stafford

then it gets clowdy. clausen and sanchez would be at the bottom. i think freeman is underrated in general, but i would imagine some teams would be very high on him.

Out of all of those Bradford is the best all around prospect.

Bradford

Stafford (injury stigma will plague Bradford especially given that his team is terrible and will not have their line situation established for years. Stafford has two serious shoulder injuries in as many years. This one being the first to the throwing shoulder but that is never a good sign.)

Ryan

Flacco (Ryan/Flacco worry me by not showing any real substantial growth limiting their ceilings. This year is a big year and so far Ryan is pushing forward while flacco is standing still)

Mallett (arm, size, decision making can be a question but he has what you want in an NFL QB)

Freeman / Luck (both are still raw but both have tools. Luck seems to have questionable arm strength but reminds me of tom brady. Freeman is growing on me but still has a ways to go ... his legs are a huge advantage right now though but seems to struggle with his deep ball)

Clausen (attitude and being a ##### going into school has been a stigma he has yet to shake. I will say this though, he carried a terrible ND team for his last two seasons and seems to be able to make any throw)

Locker (being able to run only gets you so far. Almost no growth from who he entered college as to who he will exit as)

Tebow still resorts to bad habits far, far, far too often.

I like Mallett's and Luck's potential better than everyone on that list other than Stafford (huge ceiling) and on par with Ryan and Flacco. The Locker wagon has been derailed and it would take a lot to convince me he's a top-5 pick again. A lot can change over the next 7 months though.

This is all based on skill set and projection. Where they're drafted will make a difference.

All IMHO of course.

:goodposting:You forgot Sanchez, who I would put right around Mallett.

It's really, really tough if not impossible to judge this until the end of the season, because people have knee-jerk reactions too quickly based off every single college game, one bad one will drop a college QB sometimes by several rounds.

I still like Locker a lot as a prospect, awful games sometimes just happen. It's life.

keep an eye on Colin Kaepernick from Nevada. he's 6'6" with a canon arm and can run.

he would have a lot of work to do in the NFL, but he's got all the tools and a great attitude.

It's far too soon to be able to judge these guys. I mean, Clausen is only making his first pro start tomorrow. I'll separate them into ones that I've seen play a decent time in the NFL and those I've only seen in college.

Pro QBs:

Flacco

Ryan

Freeman

Sanchez

Stafford

Bradford (although I think this kid could top even Flacco in time)

College QBs:

Luck

Mallett

Clausen (although I hope I'm wrong about him)

I based my list more on what I thought of them as prospects than what I think of them now. Right now I would probably take Bradford or Ryan first, although I also think Luck and Sanchez have the potential to be very good.

Bradford then everyone else, IMO. He's easily the best QB prospect to come along in awhile & that includes the 2011 class, who I believe is vastly overrated as a whole.

Yeah, guys like Stafford have nice upside, but Bradford is on another planet. I think people forget he's a rookie. Remember, Bradford will get much, much better.

Football Outsiders would agree with you. If I am not mistaken they are under the belief, via their statistical analysis, that Bradford is the best QB prospect to come out in a long, long time.I am also surprised that Flacco topped as many lists as he did. Something bothers me about the fact that he has basically gone sideways for a year and a half now.
