Colston as TE in my league (1 Viewer)

Do we REALLY have to do this conversation every week this season?
apparently.some folks just won't let it go that this is the way it is in Y! leagues.
I removed my fantasy roster from my sig due to Colston. Someone was so "kind" as to point out that he on my roster in my Yahoo league and had the thread derailed due to it. I know some leagues prohibit Colston to be played at TE even with him being listed WR/TE, but my leagues encourage it. As I've stated here in the past, I know it's looked "down upon" by most people here, but I don't care. I visit this site for valuable opinions to assist in my fantasy football knowledge. I visit for help tp learn more about FF. I visit for good, healthy football talk. I don't come here to seek approval to play someone in a position when my league commissioner has already given me his blessing to do so. If I played in your league, Colston would be strictly WR. But I don't.I know this does nothing to add to this week's Colston thread. But I feel it bears as much weight as the rest as the garbage.

People that use Colston as a TE really should consider a new hobby. It is the equivalent of cheating.
:lmao: You get stomped by Colston's owner?
Not really. No league that I'm in allows for Colston at TE. However, the person that is allowed to plug Colston in at TE is in reality getting to play an extra WR each week.People go around here and brag about how they get to play Colston at TE each week. It's just cheap. If that's how you want to win this game, great. But just know that you are practically cheating.
Playing by the rules is cheating? By the way I have Colston in 2 of my 3 leagues. He is a WR in all of them.

Sorry - not really.See shuke's comment above, and the comment above that.
I guess it's all in how you look at it. If you're in a league that hasn't been around a long while and don't have an established way of dealing with these types of issues yet, it is technically within the rules. I wouldn't do it, however, and neither would anyone else in my league if it were possible. We're all close and want the game to be played the right way. It's simply dishonest, imo.Edit for grammar

It can't be dishonest if it is in the league software and if your league doesn't care.

My Y! league is a non-public league of the same people that has been running for 5 years now.

Your point is not well taken with me.

EXACTLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!I ASKED THIS in another post>> but it was quickly erased by the mods >> it just seems this is getting BORING every week .. :wall:
Then why torture yourself by checking in - there's approximately 25 other topics on just the firts page of the Shark Pool that might hold more interest for you.

If it's not in the league rules and the league you are in doesn't seem to care, then it seems fine to me. My league wouldn't do it or even allow it but that's my league. We want everything to be fair and on a level playing field at all times. I don't want this to get out of context here. I'm not calling everyone dishonest who's doing it. Let me make that clear. If everyone is your league is cool with it, then I don't see a problem.

In the one league where I picked up Colston and can use him as a TE, we are all friends and the league has repeated for years. I know if I didn't make this move, my strongest competitors would have. I would kick myself for not doing it first, instead of complaining. No one has said a peep about me using Colston as a TE. In another league I missed out on this same opportunity and I feel the other guy has every right to use what's been made available. I don't think there's any rational for considering a legal loophole as cheating when it applies equally to everyone.

Ever heard of the lucky dog rule in NASCAR? It gives a driver that's a lap down his lap back when the yellow caution flag comes out if he happens to be the first driver one lap down. It's all luck, but drivers don't complain that's it's unfair or cheating. It's only part of the game that makes it more interesting. I feel this is similar with this oddity in FFL.

You can't let personal feelings make you a worse GM. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes along in the expectations that all other GMs will do the same. If everyone plays it this way, then you are only cheating yourself by not. When its expected of everyone, there's no reason you can't still get along.

Statsworld has him listed as a TE as well. The response I got from the site is that he was a TE prospect at the NFL draft and that is why he is a TE. Our league changed him to a wr, because we felt that allowing him to be played as a TE was the equivalent of removing the TE restriction from the team that has him. (ie. Colton owner is playing 3 WR while everyone else is limited to 2WR and 1TE).

espn.com too.

How many snaps does a guy need to take lined up on the Oline to qualify as a TE?

By the same logic a TE like Heap, Gates, Dallas Clark, Ben Watson etc may lose eligibilty as a TE since they line up all over the field, and essentially play WR and not as a traditional TE on a lot of the plays.

Did you guys do that to the Gates owner last year?

The funniest part of this whole thing is people trying to justify playing Colston as a TE. If you play in a Yahoo league, congrats. I'm not sure what authority Yahoo has in making player desgnations, but they can obviously do whatever they want in their game. This certainly helps knock "their game" a notch below the other league management software options IMO.

In a money league, I wouldn't want a glitch like this playing a part in the outcome of games/season.

They take stats/designations directly from the NFL - with rookies, they take the player designation based on the player's projected postion.Colston was designated a TE by the NFL when he went into the draft.Yahoo has a strict policy of not removing player position eligibility. There is nothing WRONG with playing in the rules of the league management software if YOUR LEAGuE has no objections.I do not believe the quality of Yahoo as league management software is in debate - they suck and are (hands down) the worst league management software oin the industry.

I agree that it sucks that someone can play Colsten in the TE spot. I lost to a team that played him in that TE slot.

It also does feel like cheating...BUT we really can't blame the owner that does it.....Hell, if I had grabbed him I would without hesitation.

I wrote Yahoo and they have no real explination or plans to fix the obvious error.

This guy will continue to post big numbers all season and many of us will lose because of it.

Who knew a TE could be so vital to a team....rofl

Somebody needs to start a protest against his TE status to Yahoo, where the rest of us can sign on in support
