The Colts just signed another LB from free agency or resigned one...... Did they resign Cato June?? I just caught the tale end of it on AM 1260 out of Indy a while ago.... But, I didnt here all of it or who it was.. Did anyone else here this and who it was??

LOL I thought it was an important signing...LOL I shouldnt say that.... Rob's been one of the best special team players in the league ... and he did play pretty well down the stretch...

He played well against the run when Gardner couldn't. Morris played a big part in the Colts defensive turnaround in the playoffs. Having said that, he's nothing special.

I don't know the terms of the deal but Morris knows the system and the Colts know exactly what they can expect out of him. Good move by the Colts.

As I said before free agency started, this is the one UFA the Colts needed to re-sign (besides Freeney). He filled a starting role (at least until the Colts get a SLB of the future who's not named Gilbert Gardner) and plays special teams without breaking the bank. I thought before free agency started that June was going elsewhere, so losing 2 starting LBs would have really hurt. This was a signing that had to happen.

Do you think the LB from San Diego St can step in (Freddy Keiahu?) I remember seeing him play against the Pats in the regular season and thinking he can help the team.

I think this is the Colts' plan for 2007. They'll still draft a LB I believe, but I expect the starting LBs to be Keiaho, Brackett and Morris to start the season. I expect Keiaho to be a better tackler than June, but worse in coverage than June.

Yep. Long as they didn't spend a ton, this is a good move. He actually seems to have found a home at SS LB and I'd be OK w/him starting there this year, esp as they have all those other areas on D to address. I hope they don't sign the overrated June, although Polian is so adverse to FAs that I shudder to think who else will start instead. Probably some shrimpy LB that should've been drafted in the 5th round which Polian will reach for in the 2d or 3d  Admittedly can't speak to Freddy K though.

It's been real quiet for Cato. I haven't heard of him visiting anyone as of yet. Anyone heard anything on him?

Dungy is on record saying he believes Keiaho can play the WLB. I've never been particularly impressed with June in coverage. Many of his picks were QB error IMO and his PD stats are behind those of most other veteran Tampa-2 WLB.
