COLTS @ STEELERS - Game Thread (1 Viewer)

Fleener better learn to block better than that! Allen will pass him easily. Good grief!
Allen blocks very well ,does everything well actually. He's not coming off the field very often. Gonna be a nice year for him in ppr. Lol @ all the guys dismissing Wayne. He's still Wayne
Wayne is going lower because of last year when he didn't have a qb. He should bounce back and I see value where he's going.

Wayne has lost a significant step. They are moving him around to try to get him open. I don't see him hitting on a big year. I'm sure I'm wrong.

I think Ballard came in every 3rd series but I might be wrong. It looks like they will mix it up much like NYG did Bradshaw and Jacobs. I still think Brown presents very nice value and if Ballard continues to get these reps when everyone is healthy he should move up in rookie drafts.

By the way, how to the refs blow two plays back-to-back where you get to watch a replay of the play before making a final decision?

1. Vick Ballard's overturned touchdown. He's was probably short of the goal-line. However, there is NO WAY his knee was down at the one yard line. If you're going to overturn this one then it should have been put back on the one foot line.

2. Andrew Luck started sliding before he crossed the goalline. The TD should have been overturned and the Steelers should have taken over around the one foot line on downs. Since it's the preseason, as a Colts fan, I would have liked to see Luck get burned when he made a mistake like that. If it was the regular season, it would have been a different story.

They really need the real refs back. It's one thing to make mistakes in live game situations. It's another thing to make mistakes when reviewing a replay.

So we think he's more cop/breather? Not goal line I guess as brown was in there in 1q. Any news on donnie Avery's return?

That interception is completely on luck.
Um....no. That was all Hilton.
Pass was right on target. Make the f'ing catch first, then YAC. look that ball right into your hands and secure the ball. There have been a few drops this evening, that would have dramatically improved Luck's numbers. Indy should bring in ever FA WR available next year for a look, as well as grab as many WRs as possible in the draft.

T.Y. Hilton is talented but it looked to me like he was playing scared (like a rook). If he calms down, he'll be okay. If not, he'll be on the end of the bench (or worse).

Evan Silva ‏@evansilva

Andrew Luck's 11 preseason drives so far have produced 38 points. The Jets have had 23 possessions and scored 9 points.

Let me get this straight, Haley is wanting to teach Big Ben how to not do the things he's done to win multiple Superbowls? Got it.

Big Ben...toss it away.

Mike Wallace, no need to run deep or improvise on broken plays.

Haley is a genius!

Well, Delone Carter is hurt, so my question is how much of a hold does he have on the backup role?? I would think its hardly set in stone. Isn't he a similar type of runner/build as Ballard as well??It might be a little early to call Brown injury prone, but he has far from a clean bill of health. I still like Brown as a value pick, but his backup is definitely worth a late round pick Id say.

Im much more in this group than those that think he is slow and worthless now

I was wondering about this too. I thought someone was saying a power back like Carter or Ballard would fit the offense better than Brown. Is Ballard above Carter even when Carter is healthy?

Kenny - Ya that's why I said "if he gets these reps when everyone is healthy" I don't know if he is ahead of Carter, but they did make mention about how high Tomlin is on Ballard. Maybe someone can chime in with more info?

I thought Carter was still considered the backup, but FBG's have Ballard listed as the backup. The Colts site has Mewelde Moore ahead of Ballard (which Id say wont happen) but Ballard still ahead of Carter. I dont remember anything that Carter did last year, but I like what I saw from Ballard and would feel good about taking him late if he's named the backup. Problem is my drafts will probably happen before that would happen - but I cant see anyone drafting freaking Vick Ballard besides me anyway.ETA: what kind of injury does Carter have anyway?? Im assuming he's supposed to be back soon.

Luck's first test against a defense with a pulse. Should be fun! :football:
I'd be surprised if he doesn't do well since Pittsburgh will be playing preseason defense.
Glad to see it, I'm not a Luck fan and it's good to see these young guys pay their dues. Not everyone is a Cam Newton.
How can you like football and not be a Luck fan?

They stopped the play for too many defenders :lmao:
???New rule for 2012.PASSED: Adopting the college rule for too many men on the field, which is a dead-ball foul if a team lines up on offense for more than three seconds, or if a team on defense lines up with too many men and the snap is imminent. In those cases, the officials will blow the play dead and assess a five-yard penalty.

Not that if mattered. The refs could have called offsides as well. At least two guys were on the wrong side of the LOS.

Forget about the Indy running game, what's the deal with Pittsburgh's running game? Dwyer has put up huge numbers so far in two preseason games. Somebody is going to get some nice numbers on that team, right? Is Dwyer going to be the guy? Is it still Redman? Surely Mendenhall won't be a significant factor, right?

I think this is becoming a situation where Redman, Dwyer, and Rainey all get at least 5 touches per game. I still think Redman will consistently get the most touches, and I think Dwyer's touches will be the most volatile.Mendenhall is NOT going to be on the PUP, but I dont see how he gets on the field until Week 5 and even then I think he only plays if Redman or Dwyer, if not both, are out with an injury. It does sound like Mendenhall will be a factor much sooner than late season like most were expecting though.

I believe Haley wanted to run the ball this season more often than Pittsburgh had in recent years, but the sheer attrition at RB will necessitate Ben throwing a whole bunch again. At least the first half of the year.

Theyll be throwing plenty IMO, but I think all of these RBs ceilings will be severely limited moreso because of how they end up spreading the carries around. Im guessing they're all more likely to get 50 yards apiece per game (total yards in Rainey's case) than 1 of them approaching 100 yards consistently. Barring longterm injury of course. With this in mind, I think Dwyer is the play because all of these other touches are cutting into Redman more than anything, and Im not liking his 5th round price much anymore. Then if he ends up out longterm or this groin lingers, Dwyer will be pretty much be guaranteed 12+ carries a game. I think Rainey's role will remain static regardless of injuries to the rest of the RB's.

Reggie Wayne tearing up the 2nd stringers.
This seems to be lost on ESPN this morning. "Luck bounces back after throwing 2 INT...."The second INT obviously wasn't his fault and he is obviously talented. The ESPN hype machine is overflowing, though.
