I thought the same thing when I saw the replay. (I didn't see it live)Like you said, unless the rule changed, that was a blown call for sure. The first of several I saw in this game, and I only watched about 30% of the plays. The Garcon catch where he was hit then caught the ball, then got up, ran, fumbled was botched, too.On the Finley TD, is there any particular reason why that should've been ruled a TD in light of the Calvin Johnson "going to the ground" interpretation from last season? Did the league change how they are interpreting that? Because, if anything, Finley had less control of the ball on the way down and didn't get up with it.Anyone have any olinsight on this?
I'm going to take Carter as my RB4 and wait. Addai will underwhelm again. I think this is Carter's job by year's end.Delone looked great. Elusive with good burst. Thing is addai looked even better.
Addai gets no love. He does everything fairly well, but nothing really well. Carter should get the short yardage work, but if Carter gets a chance for a bigger role I think it will be due to injury more than performance.I'm going to take Carter as my RB4 and wait. While I agree with you that Addai is very under-rated, I think you ignore the fact that Addai is very, very likely to miss at least a few games this year. When you combine Addai's injury tendencies with the fact that the Colts offense should be very potent (assuming Peyton is healthy) I think Carter presents a lot of value.Addai gets no love. Addai is the starter because he's the best blocker. Period. This offense is carried on Manning's shoulders and the RB's job is to pick up blitzes. Being a good runner is a bonus. Unless Carter demonstrates blocking on par with Addai (unlikely as a rookie), I agree that only injury will get him the start. While I agree with you that Addai is very under-rated, I think you ignore the fact that Addai is very, very likely to miss at least a few games this year. Harrell is strongly improved over last year. Looked very good last week against Zona...and definitely had his moment late last night. This without being a full part of the offseason last year, not getting a real offseason this year, and 2 years with GB now has not been around for McCarthy's QB school.Barring something odd, Harrell will be the backup next year.Harrell is not good. Can't resign Flynn for next year. Got to wonder who backs up Rodgers next season.
Joseph Addai is probably one of the best pass blocking RBs in the league. I'm guessing that's the primarily reason why he was resigned. He also has a noise for the end zone. He's not an elite RB by any means, but he is solid. I don't see Carter over taking him. I know some Colts beat writer says otherwise, but from what I can tell D. Brown is actually in front of Carter right now on the depth chart. Brown looked underwhelming as a runner last night but from what I could tell picked up blitzes fairly well. The big knock I have on him is that he rarely seems to pick up any additional yards after contact unlike Addai, Carter, and Hart (when he was on the team). Considering how sub par Colts run blocking has been the past few years, turning 2 yard runs into 3 yard runs is helpful which Brown doesn't seem to do nearly as much as the other RBs on the Colts roster.Addai gets no love. Was he watching the game or something? Did the Yankees have an off-day or something?seriously, why does arod choose to look like a pedophile?

I agree with that. I was just referring to the post that said Addai would underwhelm. I don't see Carter overtaking based on performance. At least not this year anyway. Learning the offense and all the blitz pickups without an offseason will be very difficult for him to play to the best of his abilities. While I agree with you that Addai is very under-rated, I think you ignore the fact that Addai is very, very likely to miss at least a few games this year. McCarthy claimed he is not game planning much in preseason. They are looking for certain things. Early on you could tell they wanted to see how the rest of the defense reacts with Woodson blitzing a lot (Especially after Matthews was done for the night). They played a ton of zone defense.Run blocking was pretty poor...I will give anyone that.Odd to see Clifton and Sitton both with some big errors that led to sacks and Clifton having the one that got a TD called back. Thus Addai doubters are going to miss out big time. If Addai stays healthy he is top 10.Anyway last year the Packers were rolling in the preseason then had trouble in the start of the season. I believe mccarthy. And capers are holding back so they can try to get off to a faster start. I doubt that jennings being out had anything to do with Starks receptions. The Packers were focused on seeing the rbs play last night. Ran the same screen 2 out of 3 plays near the red zone.Don't take to much from the game. The packers have very tough cuts to make.Although id suggest handcuffing flynn to rodgers
My point is, don't count on many dump-offs to any back during the season. With Jennings, Finley, Driver, Jones, and Cobb the GB RBs will be lucky to get 4 receptions per game combined. Teams can't cover all these guys and Rodgers hits RBs as a last resort...Don't know if I agree with that. James Jones, Driver, Nelson, and Finley were often the receivers on the field during those dumpoffs and if that was the case, Grant would have had an even number of receptions as Starks. The pass rush was getting to Rodgers, so he was probably dumping off quicker. I know Grant started the game, but not sure if they rotated evenly or if he went out midway through the first.
Perhaps...but both Starks and Green look good running screens. As much pressure that gets through to Rodgers at times...if they get the screen game working it helps to slow down that rush some.My point is, don't count on many dump-offs to any back during the season. I agree, but what was concerning was that Carter was the 4th back put in game...
