Comcast Cable Customers (1 Viewer)

Got the same response. Comcast would rather lose customers over this than not get their $5 a month.

This is what did. Called them and told them to add NFL network. They turned it on instantly for me and gave me all the blah blah blah about all the other garbage comes with it 5 a month.

But what they didn't know and what I didn;t tell them is I have direct appointment for next week.

The bill is due on 15th. Instead of paying I am takeing equipment back to drop off center.

Might just get it a week free while I am waiting on direct to be hooked up but I am sure I will get a partial month prorated bill but doesnt mean I have to pay it.

COMACAST WILL SOON BE HISTORY ON BOTH MY HOMES

My 2 pesos:

I called up Comcast (Atlanta) and they gave me the $5 spiel with crappy extra channels but also said NFL Network doesn't broadcast in HD - that's news to me.

Regardless, I didn't get it and I can't get HD on DirecTv (too many trees) so I'm sticking to Comcrap for now.

They were wrong - it was JUST added on August 10th and it should be on your guide now. Most of their shows aren't HD yet, but I'm sure that'll be coming soon. The games they were showing over the weekend were in HD if they were broadcast that was (friggin Bears game wasn't...)

I really think it depends on who picks up when you call. When I called, a guy picked up and I expressed my disapointment as well. I told him that I was considering switching to Dish Network or Direct TV because Comcast wanted to charge me for the NFL network. He said, "Ok, seeya." Maybe I'll call back to see if I have better luck now. Once Verizon Fios is in my area, I think I'm going to switch to them.

I actually jumped down from digital preferred to digital classic and added sports instead. Only had digital preferred for this 1 channell anyways, so it's only costing me like $3 a month extra instead. I expressed my displeasure, and the rep said they had been getting a lot of complaints and gave me the sports pack free for an entire month. Yay, a whole $6!!I'm going to regroup and launch another attack at a later date though, the DirectTV thread has me feeling encouraged again.

I just called them and told them I needed the channel but wasn't willing to pay the additional fee. They said there was nothing they could do about about.

I told them I would then like to cancel my account and started the process to cancel...she then put me on hold and came back with a 6mo trial for $2.99 (and took $5 off my internet bill to account for the added fee)

So technically they are paying me $2 a month to watch the NFL network.

I had the digital preferred package with HBO and Showtime + the internet and was paying close to 150 a month. I called and spoke to the customer retention department and said I could get the At&t package with phone/internet/TV for $99 a month including NFL network. She said she could add phone to my home package and include my premium channels and add the sports package (NFL network + worthless crap) for $101.99 So I got home phone service and the sports package and saved about $50 bucks a month too.

I think the key is to call comcast and select the option for downgrade/ cancel service (i believe you press #4). This brings you to the customer retention department and they have the ability to work out deals with customers. I spoke with a regular customer service agent and they said they dont have the "codes" available to them to make the package free but the customer retention department does.

Comcast in my area (Ocean County, NJ) is offering a promotion of $1.99 for 12 months. I just called to see what promos they had and this what they gave me.

:towelwave: That's what I did. I called the normal section, asked for the "Sports Entertainment Package" ($6.99) and said that "a guy at work" got a promo deal for $1.99 for 6 months. They said "we're not offering any promotions on that". I said fine, I want to cancel my account. A couple of transfers later and I got the promo deal-which I will be canceling in January.

Comcast yanked my NFL network about 3 weeks ago.I called and asked WTF? They said, 'oh, that's been moved to our sports package, but it's only 4.99 a month'.I said..'OH, well, I guess my $178 bill per month (with internet) isn't enough..you want $5 more, huh?"I said.."gimme it back, at no charge, or I'm cancelling today".She said "I can't do anything sir."I said.."sure you can...you can cancel my account....I'm getting the NFL Sunday Ticket Beyatch!"Got DirecTV installed today and Sunday Ticket is primed up and ready to go.
minus the beyatch i did the same

I would switch to Direct in a heartbeat because our Comcast bill just continues to grow and grow, and is around $205.00 a month here in Colorado Springs. Granted we have their premium package with all the movie channels, 4 boxes (2 HD-DVRs) and the cable internet, so we have all they offer.

I have tried the whole "I am switching to Direct unless you can do something for me," ploy with Comcast and they just tell me okay, bring your boxes down. I mean, they are offering these great deals to rope in new customers, but they are doing nothing to maintain their old ones (especially heavy users like us)

My 2 main sticking points in switching are having to pay for HD-DVR's boxes upfront and more importantly not having my cable internet.

Can anyone see a viable solution to getting around these 2 issues?

The wife has had it with our bill. Plus she is a FF nut and wants the Sunday ticket more than I do.

Comcast Atlanta customer this is what I did. I called the 800-comcast number, not the local 404-comcast. Gave them the "what happened to the NFL network?" I had it a couple weeks ago spiel. Lady I got was very nice, and looked up my account, and informs me it is now 5.99 for the sports package. I acted surprised, and asked if there was anything they could do. She said she could do nothing about the sports package price, but what she can do is lower my comcaast internet by $11.00 per month for 1 year (down to $33.00 total per month). So my bill will be $5.00 less for one year ... then i guess its DirectTV time.

Get Directv....problem solved.Plus from what I've read Directv is about to launch a ton more HD channels..

But what do you pay for Direct Tv? Isn't it even more? The whole thingis a rip off and our Congress should do more to promote competition and to give "choice" to customers. They love the idea of choice when it comes to education and giving people a choice of not supporting public schools and redirecting that money to other private and semi-private providers, but they hate choice when it comes to private business.

If more people did that, they wouldn't be so quick to go after the quick dollar.

i had a similar exchange with my local comcast company and DirectTV will be here next weekend....i think everyone will find with a small amount of research that you get more for your money anyway.

The DirecTv people came out and wouldn't install it because I had too many tree's. Now Im forced to stay w/ comcast. When I moved they installed a new cable box and modem. The install guy took my old box/modem ..... I guess he never turned it in and there is no record of him taking it. Comcast now tells me I owe them $300 for the missing box/modem even though I only have one TV. What good do I have for the extra garbage box/modem? I HATE COMCAST but Im stuck w/ them  Stupid Trees!

Just a little piece of info for you comcast cable subscribers. I called last night to express my disappointment about Comcast recently requiring people to pay for the NFL network. Now comcast wants people to pay $4.95 a month to get it. (it was previously included in most packages) The lady on the other end said they could offer it free for 6 months. So if your currently paying for the NFL network or don't have it anymore, I suggest you call that way you can get this channel. Enjoy folks!
Comcast wants $6.95 here in Chicago. They include the NFL Network in a 'Sports and Entertainment' package. So you get the NFL Network in a package that includes soccer and lawn bowling, oh goody! Another BS excuse to charge more. I'm comparing Comcast and Direct TV. Anyone have Direct TV and how do you like it?

Check your cable next time you get a chance. I checked last night and NFL Network was back on, maybe everybody's #####ing paid off.

 I don't know who some of you guys are talking to, but I too just called to express my disappointment that Comcast charges for this channel, the response I got was :wall: ... and FYI I did mention that this was something that I get free of charge on DirecTV I subscribe to at my cabin, and it could make me go back to DirecTV at home. Again, was the response, no courtesy offer whatsoever. I couldn't tell you her exact response, but between the lines it was practically a dare for me to do it because they just don't care. It's almost as if they know how much I hate DirecTV.
Why do you hate Direct TV? I'm looking at the two, Comcast and Direct TV. I currently have no other options.

Comcast has deleted NFL channel from this areas programing......SF bay area.....Anyone know anything about whats going on before I cancell and go to Ditect TV

Comcast is so flexable. You just have to do your research first. Ive been getting the promotion discount for over 3 years now. I have their cable, 2 phone lines, on HD box with DVR and a normal cable box in my BR. I dont have any movie channel. I started out paying like 136 a month for all this with my promotion package. After my promotin package is over in a year, my bill goes up to 185 a month. I pay that for 2 months and call comcast and tell them that this bill is just way to high and im thinking of making the switch to whoever you make up(I used AT&T). So anyways the first time I called they said there was nothing they could do, so I really called AT&T and got a quote for all my services that I wanted. I called comcast back and got some supervisor and the lady always comes back with a cheaper price. Ive been doing this for over 3 years and it has worked everytime.

Another place is flexable is Best Buy. I went in to buy my 50 inch plasma.; I had no intention of buying as I seen the same TV on line at abes of maine for like 400 cheaper plus free shipping and handling. So I am talking to the sales man and he asks if im interested in one and I tell him my deal with abes of maine and he says let me go back and talk to my manager. He comes back and tells me I can have 350 cash off the TV or I can pay full price for the TV and get a 450 in-store credit. True story. Best Buy can be negotiated.
