Why can’t it be both? One doesn’t preclude the other.Calling it a fetish might be technically accurate, but it's giving a pretty benign label to an act that is a form of assault.

A "fetish" connotes some sexual preference that most people consider simply odd, not something that violates another person and is illegal. It's the same as saying a serial killer's favorite "hobby" is murder. Why can’t it be both? One doesn’t preclude the other.

Look up.Which could also be true.
What evidence would you want to see with these type of allegations? First off, the thread title has a question mark in it which implies nobody is talking about the rumors as facts. It seems pretty relevant though as there has been persistent rumors about him from multiple sources and parallels the Harvey Weinstein news.So there's no evidence or even anybody saying he did it to them, but we're going to talk about it like it's a fact that he did it? Awesome.
Until someone comes forward, it's pointless rumor mongering. To mention him in the same breath as Weinstein is absurd. What evidence would you want to see with these type of allegations? Why do you think the topic was started? I'm not equating the two but the Weinstein thread led to this thread.Until someone comes forward, it's pointless rumor mongering. To mention him in the same breath as Weinstein is absurd.
I guess at least a woman actually saying he did it to her would be a good start. What evidence would you want to see with these type of allegations?
I disagree:First off, the thread title has a question mark in it which implies nobody is talking about the rumors as facts.
That's a round-about way of saying, " yep, I done done it."
Oh, and, yes, of course this is true. He obviously does this stuff.
No,I don't think he's trying to have normal relations with these women. That's not the itch he's scratching. He has a deep need to feel powerful and in control. For him to feel that way, he feels that he needs to abuse women and make sure they know that they are powerless around him.
Of course it is, he’s doing it to get pleasure.
---What he's doing is not a "fetish".
Lots of rumors get around. Did you know there is a pedophile ring being run through a DC pizza shop?It seems pretty relevant though as there has been persistent rumors about him from multiple sources
but he actually hasShould we leave it at he was asked about the allegations and didn't deny them?
Then, when the Times asked whether “it’s not real,” he replied, “No. They’re rumors. That’s all it is.”
Wow, does this hurt his career?
He's toast. Done. Probably tip of the iceberg on the starting 5 here.Wow, does this hurt his career?
Maybe he thinks he's having sex with them. Right after believing he had dinner with Samuel L Jackson. Can someone explain the whole stand there and masturbate in front of a woman you don't really know thing? It's just so bizarre. I'm trying to understand why somebody would do that.
Easily the most thoughtful and well-researched & written article on the subject of sexual harrassment/misconduct/assault i've read. I'm therefore non-plussed that a person who has few equals at inveighing against hypocrisy could be so grossly hyprocritical and gross himself.
Just guessing but I know that the JCPenny catalogue used to do it for me back in the day. Wouldn't work so good now.Can someone explain the whole stand there and masturbate in front of a woman you don't really know thing? It's just so bizarre. I'm trying to understand why somebody would do that.
How does this article make it all true? It's an article about the accusations from the women, not Louis admitting to all of it.
speak for yourselfNot to mention you are putting the frank n beans in a pretty vulnerable poison by doing this.
you must be joking. he abused a position of power to masturbate in front of women and you give him a pass because he was polite about it?“As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his penis, the women said.
They thought it was a joke and laughed it off. “And then he really did it,” Ms. Goodman said in an interview with The New York Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started masturbating.”
I’m not trying to be dismissive, but I’m a little confused. He asked if they wanted to come to his room per the article, they obliged. He asked if he could take it out, and while it doesn’t say they obliged it also definitely doesn’t say that they intimated it wasn’t ok. They obviously stuck around long enough for him to get naked and masturbate.
I don’t want to excuse what he did, but I don’t see anything that leads me to believe they were held against their will, nor does it read like they were misled with his intentions.
What power did he have over them? It just says they were two comedians who went to a hotel room with a guy. I’m not privy to all the details, but how is this different than any other bar pickup?you must be joking. he abused a position of power to masturbate in front of women and you give him a pass because he was polite about it?
It is highly entertaining to see all of these lefty elites who screeched the loudest at Trump and pretended to support women's rights go down one by one for their raping, pedophilia, sexual assaults, and sexual harassment. The New York premiere of Louis C.K.'s upcoming film, I Love You, Daddy, set for Thursday, has been canceled. Reps for the premiere, due to take place at the Paris Theatre, cited "unexpected circumstances."
A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that a New York Times story on the comedian is about to break, and the premiere was canceled in case it is damaging. Additionally, Louis C.K.'s planned appearance on CBS' The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was also canceled, with William H. Macy taking his place.
Did you read the whole article? He apologized to a few of the women involved. They were able to corroborate every single accusation as well. How does this article make it all true? It's an article about the accusations from the women, not Louis admitting to all of it.
I read most & saw a couple accounts of an apology, but what I read did not have him saying "Sorry for beating off in front of you" Did I miss it?Did you read the whole article? He apologized to a few of the women involved. They were able to corroborate every single accusation as well.
Who is this clown?I read most & saw a couple accounts of an apology, but what I read did not have him saying "Sorry for beating off in front of you" Did I miss it?
Also, the 2 women that just stayed there while he jerked off...c'mon. You are adults, leave if you don't wanna be there.
Hey slick, I am not excusing his behavior.
the best insult ever is "who is this clown" because
1. you're calling them a clown
2. you're saying they're not even a well known clown
“I think the line gets crossed when you take all your clothes off and start masturbating,” Ms. Wolov said.
I haven't seen Weinstein come out and say he was sorry for raping and assaulting the dozen of women that have come forward, you giving him the benefit of the doubt?I read most & saw a couple accounts of an apology, but what I read did not have him saying "Sorry for beating off in front of you" Did I miss it?

If that is your take-away after reading that article I don't think you and I will find much common ground on this one.I read most & saw a couple accounts of an apology, but what I read did not have him saying "Sorry for beating off in front of you" Did I miss it?

For starters, he's a man. He's physically stronger than them. I'm guess some women, maybe even these women, would feel like a man whipping it out like may not take kindly to them saying no and trying to leave. It may cross their mind that their safest course of action is to just sit there. What power did he have over them?

Louis even has a joke about how the #1 threat to women is men and how amazing it is that women ever agree to go on a date with a man.
I think the other incidents listed are pretty messed up. It appears he used his position to gain control over those women and acted inappropriately. The first one just doesn’t read that way to me unless there’s missing details. All the article shows there is three consenting adults went to a hotel room late at night and the women apparently stuck around and watched the guy jerk off. Weird? Yeah. Past that, I would think if there was intimidation or threats, the article would have mentioned it.For starters, he's a man. He's physically stronger than them. This Mr. Becky guy denies threatening them, but they appeared to feel threatened.Ms. Goodman and Ms. Wolov moved to Los Angeles shortly after the Aspen festival, but “we were coming here with a bunch of enemies,” Ms. Goodman said. Gren Wells, a filmmaker who befriended the comedy duo in 2002, said the incident and the warning, which they told her about soon after Aspen, hung heavily over them both. “This is something that they were freaked out about,” Ms. Wells said.
In the years since, Ms. Goodman and Ms. Wolov have found some success, but they remained concerned about Mr. Becky and took themselves out of the running for the many projects he was involved in. Though their humor is in line with what he produces, “we know immediately that we can never even submit our material,” Ms. Wolov said.
You aren't going to find people on the left defending him like the right is defending Moore. I actually liked Louis CK's acts, but I can't even look at him the same any more after reading this article. Hope he goes down.NFL2DF said:Louis C.K.'s Movie Premiere Canceled in Advance of N.Y. Times Story

Yea but what does this have to do with Roy Moore?NFL2DF said:go down one by one for their raping, pedophilia, sexual assaults, and sexual harassment.
I kinda agree. If he'd just caught the casual jerk, these things happen. But it's a lot of work to get fully undressed to do it.GregR said:
Quoted this to make a joke... and then realized, I got nothing this time. Pretty damn good line-drawing there.
Did you actually watch the clip? At no point did he ever say anything about Trump and his treatment of women. He just called him an insane bigot, idiot, Hitler and a liar. All of which are true, even if you completely ignore the misogyny part of the Trump experience.NFL2DF said:It is highly entertaining to see all of these lefty elites who screeched the loudest at Trump and pretended to support women's rights go down one by one for their raping, pedophilia, sexual assaults, and sexual harassment.

I feel the same way. I'm glad I got to see him live once, and he was hilarious. Also really enjoyed Louie and Horace & Pete. Not sure where his career goes now but I won't be able to support anything he does.So hard to separate the art from the artist in this case. As a man, I always enjoyed Louis CK's boundary-pushing because it made me rethink my interactions with people, while also making me laugh at the absurdity of all sorts of things: Parenting, sexual mores and taboos, power, racism, etc... Now that all of this information has come to light, I'm not sure that all of the sexual stuff as part of his standup would be as funny anymore since it came from a place of deep ugliness towards women. Really bummed about the whole thing, to be honest.
It's really a shame. Richard Pryor beat the hell out of (at least) one of his wives and it totally changed the way I perceived his comedy as well.I feel the same way.
