Commish botches my autodraft... now what? (1 Viewer)

Here's the scenario:

At the last minute, our keeper league has to reschedule its draft to a date & time I can't make. So, I submit my carefully-prepared rankings and autodraft list to the commish for him to draft my team from.

Unfortunately, he only prints out the top page of my email, which only lists which position I want drafted in what round. So, he uses Yahoo's default rankings to make my picks in the first 8 rounds. He later discovers my player rankings list on page 2... in round 9.

My team looks like crap- the scoring system is a significant departure from Yahoo's rankings.

Does he have an obligation to throw out the entire draft, and risk the ire of the other 8 owners in the league?

I don't think there is any way they would be able to throw out the results of the draft and redraft... everyone knows now where different owners value various players. If it was a redraft I would say you should just get to play for free. Since it's a keeper league, I don't know... maybe play for free this year and next? Or perhaps take your roster and the roster of the commish and have a two team draft to determine the rosters of your two teams, and you get to play for free this year.

Why even participate in a league where you can't drive live in?Is it a money league?
No, not a money league.Since there's no money on the line, does that make it more or less pissy of me to ask them to throw out the draft results? There's some pride on the line here... I'm going for a threepeat this year, and I don't have a chance with the roster he handed me.

It's not a money league? Then yeah, just suck it up and try to get some good keepers for next year, or do what I said earlier and combine your roster and the roster of the commish and have a two team draft.

I don't think it's petty if it was a money league.

In this case, suck it up, but I'd have strong reservations about playing next year if the commish doesn't apologize profusely for this.

I agree.. I'd make the comment if you want that he messed everything up, but then I'd try to win with this team for fun.. you'll end up with some keepers I'm sure... think of it as a challenge..

Wow that really stinks. I think all you can do here is do your best on the waiver wire and hope for a little luck. There's a lot of luck in fantasy football and with a few injuries, you never know what will happen. Good luck!

Don't mean to pile on but you should have called him to explain your email and just make sure he knew what was up. I'm sure your email was pretty clear but I would have called just to make sure. The guy doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed.

:goodposting: No offense, but a phone call follow up to make sure you were on the same page was your responsibility.

Its bad luck but if the guys in the league want competition instead of a cake walk they will do something for you. Have each team drop one guy etc. It ultimately lies on you but there should be some compensation for the commish's foul up

i disagree that it was your responsibility to call him and explain the email. if he knew you coudlnt be there and you were sending him your list he should have actually paid attention to the email.

really sucks, but if theres no money involved and its just for fun, i'm not sure i'd ask for a redraft.

whats your team look like?

I'd just chastise myself for playing in a league with a chimp for a commish, not sending a proxy to the draft, and just play out the season.

It's a free league, I'd just take it as a challenge to build as good a team as possible through waivers, trade, etc.

I don't mean to be unsympathetic, but bottom line: When someone does your draft FOR you, it's a huge favor. I had to draft for two of the guys in my league this year, and it really detracted from the time I could spend concentrating on my own team's draft. If the commish fouled it up for you, that's too bad. But you had already put a burden on him by asking him to draft for you. Suck it up and work the waiver wire, pal. Maybe next time you'll find a way to be at the draft.

if its not a money league, consider it a challenge

chances are no one will play really hard if there isn't $$$ on the line

pretty much exactly my thoughts.

I'd like to see the final results. It really can't be too bad. It's not like Yahoo ranks DBs 1st overall or anything.
