The Washington Redskins were awarded three additional picks in the NFL draft in April, including a third-rounder, today.

The league announced the compensatory draft choices awarded based on a formula balancing players lost and added in free agency.

The Redskins were awarded the highest of the compensatory selections, the 96th overall pick in the draft. Their other two compensatory choices come in the seventh round, Nos. 242 and 249 overall.

The Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens also were awarded third-round picks. The Ravens and Bengals were awarded four picks each, the most in the league.

Man it'd be fun to be the Falcons' GM this year. Six picks in the first three rounds?
They're in position to maneuver like a FF'er. I doubt they trade up in the 1st, but I can certainly see them being active later.
I'm saying there's a 90% chance they DON'T take Matt Ryan in the first. They could trade back up into the latter part of the 1st if Brohm drops, otherwise they'll wait until the 2nd and take Flacco/Henne.

is there a list somewhere? I didnt see any announcements on ESPN, NFL.com or the Chargers website.

Wondering what SD got for donnie edwards

:moneybag: I like this plan a lot. With the #3 pick, either Long, Long, or Dorsey makes more sense IMO. It seems Henne could run that offense very well, and cost a lot less. If they intend to use a power-running attack, why take a QB at #3? But you're right, much like one of our mocks earlier, if Brohm falls far enough, a team (Atlanta or Chicago) could make a move up and Atlanta is in good position to do so.

AdamJT13 was scary-accurate this year. Most of the ones he had in the wrong round he listed as borderline cases. About the only thing he really missed on was the Atlanta 3rd for Kerney, and even that he acknowledged was a possibility.

They got a 5th.
ouch, expectations were for a 3rd or 4th.well, they still only have a 1st, nothing in 2-4!
what expectations? The prediction I saw had him as a borderline 4th or 5th rounder.
Once he signed with KC, I think most people expected a fourth, with the possibility of a fifth. But in 2006 when the Chargers were deciding whether to trade him or not (versus letting him play out his contract in SD), I think many expected either a third or a fourth.

I know I certainly expected him to sign for more $ than he ended up taking from KC. If the relationship between Edwards/SD(I'll admit Edwards had a lot to do with that) SD certainly could have afforded to pay him more and had an even better team last year. And this year for that matter.

That's horrible. Buffalo lost the biggest free agent last year with Clements and all we have to show for it is a 4th rounder. Horrible.

Pretty good job by AdamJT13. He was a bit too low on the cutoff points -- had a few picks in higher rounds than actually received, and had three "bubble" players that were not counted in the calculation at all. Otherwise the only misses appear to be Vinny Ciurciu, Michael Myers, and the St. Louis "net value" pick.edit: This was posted on another message board:

A total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2008 NFL Draft have been awarded to 15 teams, the NFL announced today.Under terms of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in a year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 220 choices in the seven rounds of the 2008 NFL Draft (April 26-27). This year, the compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula. One club this year (St. Louis) will receive a compensatory pick even though it did not suffer a net loss of compensatory free agents. Under the formula, the compensatory free agents St. Louis lost were ranked higher than the ones it signed (by a specified point differential based upon salary and performance). The following 2008 draft picks have been determined by the NFL Management Council:ROUND CHOICE/ROUND OVERALL SELECTION TEAM3 33-96 Washington3 34-97 Cincinnati3 35-98 Atlanta3 36-99 Baltimore4 33-131 Philadelphia4 34-132 Buffalo4 35-133 Baltimore4 36-134 Tennessee4 37-135 Green Bay5 33-166 San Diego6 33-199 New York Giants6 34-200 Philadelphia6 35-201 Indianapolis6 36-202 Indianapolis6 37-203 Philadelphia6 38-204 Miami6 39-205 Indianapolis6 40-206 Baltimore6 41-207 Cincinnati7 33-240 Baltimore7 34-241 Carolina7 35-242 Washington7 36-243 Chicago7 37-244 Cincinnati7 38-245 Miami7 39-246 Cincinnati7 40-247 Chicago7 41-248 Chicago7 42-249 Washington7 43-250 Carolina7 44-251 Buffalo7 45-252 St. LouisFollowing are the compensatory free agents lost and signed by the clubs that will receive compensatory picks in the 2008 NFL Draft:ATLANTA Lost: Justin Griffith, Patrick Kerney, Ashley LelieSigned: Ovie Mughelli, Lewis SandersBALTIMORE Lost: Aubrayo Franklin, Ovie Mughelli, Tony Pashos, Adalius ThomasBUFFALO Lost: Nate Clements, Andre Davis, London Fletcher, Mike GandySigned: Derrick Dockery, Langston WalkerCAROLINA Lost: Vinny Ciurciu, Chris DraftCHICAGO Lost: Alfonso Boone, Justin Gage, Todd Johnson, Ian ScottSigned: Anthony AdamsCINCINNATI Lost: Kevin Kaesviharn, Eric Steinbach, Tony Stewart, Kelley Washington, Anthony WrightSigned: Michael MyersGREEN BAY Lost: Ahman Green, David MartinSigned: Frank WalkerINDIANAPOLIS Lost: Nick Harper, Cato June, Dominic RhodesMIAMI Lost: David Bowens, Damion McIntosh, Sammy Morris, Jeff ZgoninaSigned: Jay Feely, David MartinNEW YORK GIANTS Lost: Jay Feely, Visanthe Shiancoe, Frank WalkerSigned: Kawika Mitchell, Anthony WrightPHILADELPHIA Lost: Shawn Barber, Jeff Garcia, Roderick Hood, Michael Lewis, Donte’ StallworthSigned: Kevin Curtis, Ian ScottST. The Packers got a 4th.#137 I believe.
#135 actually, but not trying to split hairs.Should be an EXCELLENT draft for GB:1 (30), 2 (57), 2 (61), 3 (92), 4 (126), 4 (135), 5, and 7No 6th, traded for Ryan GrantShould be a great draft for GB. 13 draft picks last year, slotted for 8 this year. Look for TT to possibly turn 2 of those picks into 4 or 5 to land another 12ish draft picks this year. Not that they need that many players, so maybe he'll keep 8 and stick with that.Lots of room to make some great pickups for the second youngest team in the league. That extra 4 is huge. Allows GB to address depth at a key spot at a very good place in the draft

Listening to talk radio XtraSports, they had AJ Smith on and they were discussing a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick. I dont know if AJ said that or the hosts but all reports i had seen made it seem like a 3rd or 4th. They usually followed it up with Forte or Choice being looked at with that comp pick (if in the 3rd)
