Really like Dirty Honey, was hoping they were going to get this tour last year, now i have to get tickets. I saw Black Crowes open for Aerosmith in 1990, felt like a passing of the torch from one great hard rock/blues based band to another. This could be the same thing 30 years later.

Feel the same way. If Dirty Honey gets a full set up they may steal the show. Really good

Promoter Fee is especially egregious since they're really supposed to bet on ticket sales and get a percentage of them depending on how much they front for the show. You're absorbing their risk. If I'm not mistaken, that is. I haven't been the beneficiary of working that side of a show, but that's what I was taught, anyway. You front the band costs and get paid a percentage of the door or a set fee. If the band loses, you lose. That's the whole ####### point of being a promoter, if I'm not mistaken.

What a ####### rip. I wouldn't pay it just based on that.

I’m happy to support these venues and artists because I know they’re hurting, but I wish they’d just mark up the face value so it doesn’t smack me in the gob at checkout.  I bought 4 tickets for William Elliot Whitmore at a small venue for $15 each and the total cost was $86. What sticks me is the venue is about a mile from my office. Can I walk up there and buy my tickets from the venue the old fashioned way? Hell no I can’t. Gotta download an app and pay $26 in fees.

I’m holding Black Crowes tickets for over a year now - rescheduled to this summer.  Happy to hear this about the opener as I am not familiar with Dirty Honey. Will check them out.

This same thing happened to me in the past. I did go down to buy the tickets in person and they still took the fees. There was zero benefit in buying them the old fashioned way.

I found two good seats yesterday at face.  The kicker was there's a seat taken in between mine.  My bet is that the person between us will move one seat over in either direction.  There is zero reason not to do so in that section, so I think I scored.

This was prompted from a Ticketmaster email I got that also had The Strokes at the same venue (Forum) a few months later.  So I tried that show as well but holy cow, those tickets were in another stratosphere completely.

The Strokes also had a big pit for their set up, almost half the floor.  I'm old.

 
New Order/Pet Shop Boys Unity Tour pushed to 2022.

Alanis Morisette/Garbage/Liz Phair tour dates on the west coast all changed. Naturally I made plans to go to the Portland show. I avoided buying tix for the Tampa show since it’s in August, but now looks like I’ll just go see them here. 

Psychedelic Furs just announced a bunch of new US tour dates. Tix go on sale Friday. Gonna try to see them here in Clearwater (3rd attempt) 10/29. 
 

No more rescheduling/cancellations, please. It’s getting stressful changing all my plans

This sucks.  Not only did they move it to 2022, but they changed venue from the Gorge (one of the best outdoor venues in the country) to Climate Pledge (formerly Key) Arena, which is a really mediocre place to see a show.   I had 8 tickets plus VIP camping.  Now I have a pre-sale code, and I don't get a refund for 30 days.

I just got my flights for Philly last night. I’m still going up there since I have reservations all over the place, but it does suck. Next year I am planning on going to Asheville around 9/25 so we’re going to fly up to Philly to see the show and then fly down to Asheville for our regularly scheduled vacation. This assumes it will actually happen.

Bought Rod Stewart/Cheap Trick tickets for Sept in Tampa a couple weeks ago...it had been rescheduled from 2020...less than a week later THAT show was pushed back til 2022. WTF? I took the refund.

Today got tix for Hall & Oats in Tampa at the amphitheater, and the GF wants to see Pat Benetar so I got tix to her show at Ruth Eckerd Hall in October.

So the concert schedule is now Chicago in July (rescheduled form 2020 with Rick Springfueld opening, now no opening act), Hall & Oates in Sept, and Pat Benatar in Oct. 

Need to find something in August to round out the summer.

Concerts are back, baby!!

Solid! Hall and Oates always great. Even greater respect since Daryl’s Place. What a great show. Pat was great the last time I saw her but man Neil needs to know nobody’s there to see him. He takes over and makes it about him with long speeches 

 
Rammstein moved to 2022, but it is now the Saturday of Labor Day weekend in Chicago, so think it worked out for the better instead of a random Weds night.

Megadeth/Lamb of God in Cincy on Sept. 20, Louder than Life in Lville later that week Sept. 23-26. Drawing up the divorce papers myself currently to save my wife some time with a 4 yo and 4 month old at home.

 
Just got an email that the Eagles are coming around. Top tier tickets are $770 before the crazy per ticket fees, convenience fees, and venue fees (which combined I find have been running about 20% of the ticket price lately). "Regular" seats, those are $300+ all the other fees. I like the Eagles, but not for that price. I guess if they wanted to come play my family's backyard BBQ for that price then sure. IIRC, back in high school, tickets to see them with all fees included were $15.00.

 
I saw The Wood Brothers last Friday night. They were good. They played outdoors out in the boonies, and the place was strict about mask wearing.  You didn't have to wear one in your pod  (Pods were made up of 6 people each), but if you went to the bathroom, ordered food or beverages, or walked anywhere outside of your pod you had to have a mask on. There were hand sanitation stations set up everywhere too. 

 
Well - we’re back! Canyon Club is about a 1,000 person venue near my house. California opens up fully on Tuesday. So get an email that tickets fo on sale tomorrow for a concert on Tuesday. For who? The Foo Fighters. Mind blown. $26 all tix. No hard tickets. All will call. Lineup 2 hours before they go on sale. Must be original purchaser + guest and have proof of vaccination to get your tickets. This place struggled to stay alive and I know they are doing it just to support them. Awesome.

I added a Black Pumas show in September today.  This almost seems like back to normal.  My go-to venues are adding shows every day. I'm overbuying at this point, will probably end up dumping some of these shows I've calendared, but can't help myself.

 
Bought tickets for OMD next April in St. Pete. They put on a really good show. Looking forward to seeing them headline. I have this show and Colin Hay within 3 days of one another. #COVIDrescheduling

Not sure how many of you are into Paul Weller and have access to BBC2, but his performance with the BBC Orchestra is on right now. Good stuff. No audience, but I’m happy.

Bit the bullet and bought floor seats for the 9/1 DC show.  Only nosebleed seats seemed under $299.  YOLO, especially after a long year+ with no concerts.

 
Saw just turned 14yo Floppinho play songs of the 2ks with school of rock williamsburg in bushwick at a rooftop venue, tunes by my chemical romance, killers, foo fighters, to name a few. He was on skins for moat of the songs, vocals for a couple and dirst time performing guitar on one.

Soooo giddy to see him play in front of a crowd again and to see him play rock music (instead of classical). His drumming has matured a ton, especially considering he never practiced these tunes outside of weekly rehearsals. Unfortunately, the rest of the kids to a person are really new to their instruments, singing and performing in general. Show was brutal outside of seeing him do his thing. 

Ill try to post something, but it kinda hurts to hear tbh.

 
Just got tickets to see Black Crowes at West Palm Amphitheater in September. 9th row, almost center stage. Hell yeah, these guys have been on my list to see for a long time. First tour together since 2014 I think.

Paid $18 for front row to see Ratt/Britny Fox/Kix back in '89. Kix was far and away the best band on that bill. I imagine it would be the same this time around. 

 
Just got tickets for English Beat and the Fixx on October 22. I’ve never seen either band live.

Was originally heading out to Portland later this month to see Garbage and Liz Phair with Alanis Morissette (with friends of mine), but naturally all the dates were rescheduled so I’m seeing them here in Tampa next month. Outdoor show in August in FL. I’m probably leaving after Garbage.

About the tour: 

Today, The Black Keys (“America’s Most Trusted Band” -Stephen Colbert) announce their World Tour of America. The band will perform three intimate shows in Oxford, MS, Athens, GA, and St Petersburg, FL, surrounding their performance at Pilgrimage Fest in Tennessee. A portion of each set at these intimate shows will consist of songs from the band’s new album, Delta Kream, which features eleven Mississippi hill country blues songs by artists including R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. Patrick Carney said of these dates, which the band hopes to make a tradition: “Dan and I have joked about doing a tour of American cities named after other cities in the world since we were touring together in a van. It feels like now is as good a time as any, and we are excited to play in some places we haven’t played since the early days of the band and for fans that have not had a chance to see us in a while.” Tickets for these dates will go on sale here on Friday, July 23 at 10am Local Time. Finally.. hitting a very intimate Ben Nichols (of Lucero) Show at a buddy's bar here in Memphis on Aug 3rd.

It's his and Ben's 40th birthday party, so it should be an intimate/fun show. My buddy and Ben apparently celebrate their bdays together every year.. I'm salty I'm just now hearing of this. :lol:  

Any Lucero / Ben Nichols fans who will be in the area and want to attend, it's at the Hi-Tone and tix are $20. Cmon and I'll buy ya a beer or two.

Yeah, I don't think any of the fall shows are going to happen this year. The Netherlands just had a supposed "COVID safe" music festival that turned into a superspreader event. I think some venues in the US could maybe manage to have safe shows, but have a feeling some of our early festivals like Lollapalooza won't end well and will put an end to most of the other tours and festivals. Having Lollapalooza this year seems like one of the dumber ideas. I get that it's outside, but that event is always butts to nuts packed with people from all over the country and world.

It really is everyone else's fault with that group. I try to figure out their position and check in on some of them on Twitter from time to time, but all they really do is complain about masks, why aren't kids in school, how come I can't see my servers face at a restaurant, you don't need a vaccine, people who wear masks after vaccines have a mental disorder, suicide is up because of remote learning and masks, don't test people, kids are immune. What I never see is what their solution is. Just let it rip? Roll the dice and you'll mostly be ok? Yes, we all know things kinda suck right now, but that group is the worst of the worst. Zero suggestions on how things can get better under the reality of circumstances but pissed off at anyone who is trying to mitigate spread.
