Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (2 Viewers)

May take a trip back in time and go see The Church, as they are on tour in support of a new album (gave a listen...not bad). Also debating Willie Nelson's Outlaw Tour. Not exactly the support acts I would have preferred (though Avetts and Marcus King should be good), but thinking Willie turning 90...not going to be around forever.

Anyone had experience with either (know they are widely divergent, but that is the beauty of FBG:))

Thursday after opening day Reds game, stumbled across the river to see Spafford in a small Northern Kentucky venue. Great show, but I had to leave a little early because I was afraid of what was going to happen afterwards. I was there by myself, and there was a large group of people that were showing up at various times late during the first set and even during the second set and just barreling their way through the crowd to the front. I was sick of it and started telling people they couldn't go by me. Got into a few verbal confrontations which I'm embarrassed about, but ****, I'm 50 and was drinking all day. Let me dance and stop trying to push your way by me.

Here’s what I would like to see. Nothing purchased yet, my work travel may be pretty crazy this year so I don’t want to commit to these too far in advance. Worst case I should be able to get secondary tix at a reasonable price the week before

Billy Strings
Tedeschi Trucks
Blackberry Smoke (at local casino should probably book soon and grab a room)
Ghost
some country concert (wife mentioned a few)

Tool rumored to have a fall tour 100% in for that one way or another

Would love to see the Metallica show but timing is bad, would be a last minute deal if i go

Set for Luke Combs next weekend in Nashville. He just added a 2nd concert today for next Friday. Never seen a show added a week before. Great seats available at face vs the 3X we paid for the Saturday night show. Anybody local should jump on that.

Queen and Adam Lambert went on sale and got great seats today for face for the LA show. Saw them last tour and they were sensational. Highly recommend.

concert season setting up nicely...

John Mellencamp on the 22nd in St. Louis
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals June 6th in Memphis ( one of my wife's favorites so paid extra for VIP meet and greet)
Foo Fighters June 14th in Rodgers Arkansas ( had tickets back pre-covid but they got cancelled during lockdown)

Chemical Brothers (again!) - April 18th in Seattle.

I really want to see them. I'm into electronic music, but I have scarcely seen any of it live. I saw DJ Cheb Sabbah in San Franciso a few years back, and I'm pretty jacked to see Crystal Method next month.

I honestly can't afford to go to many big concerts anymore. $200 + for average seats at arena or stadiums for major acts is crazy. Really wanted to score Cure tix, but got shut out. Totally reasonable prices. I think the upper seats were like $35 or something like that. Been mostly sticking with small bands and small venues. Gilla Band for $19, The Nude Party for $25. Dino Jr. is still cheap. Summer also brings some free shows. Los Lobos is playing Blues Fest for free, stuff like that. I'll splurge for a big show or two this year, but nothing like I used to be able to do. Not sure how kids can do it these days.

I used to be into stadium shows. I think the secret is smaller shows in cooler venues are more affordable and the bands are better. I saw Stevie Wonder & Iron Maiden in stadiums, and I don't regret it. But unless it's an iconic act from my childhood that I'm dying to see, I'm far more into smaller shows.

Now for two straight nights of Goose.
Saw these guys this past Sunday night out here in St Paul. They played for a very, very long time. For some reason I went into the show thinking the venue had like an 11:00 PM curfew. Well, they took intermission at 11:00 and I was like "oh ****, I didn't plan my substance intake properly". I was housed and needed to keep going for another 1.5 hours.

Anyway, I hadn't seen these guys before, and while I had listened to a decent amount of their stuff, I wouldn't really call myself a fan. After years of Dead and Phish shows, I sort of have taken the past 20 years off from the jam band scene, so this was one of my few dabbles back in.

Read a review a bit ago that I think nailed who they are. "It felt almost as if the band went to jam band college, where they studied all of the ingredients of the most successful jam bands and cooked them up into a perfectly palatable recipe"

LOL at that last sentence. I'm not a huge fan, don't listen to them much, but I love seeing them live. Their jams are almost all peak. Not saying I prefer that, but occasionally it feels good.

I don't go to shows much anymore for multiple reasons, not least of which is how much artists charge.....I ain't paying hundreds to see anyone.

That said, one of my favorite bands is touring and I picked up four tix for $18 a piece at a small club......that's my kind of show.

Are you going to make us guess who it is?

Its Elder with Howling Giant, and Ruby the Hatchet......it's going to be well worth the $18

Scored tickets for Ed Sheeran via Verified Fan sale. Super small venue - The Shrine in LA. Mezzanine tickets - $76. Flying to Ireland that night so gave them to my daughter and her husband. Like others, I'm focusing on value with concerts these days. I'll go if I get good seats at a respectable price during a presale. F the resale market.

I'm on the fence with Aerosmith. Seen them several times and we got burned last December when Steven cancelled shows in Vegas. Already seen Black Crowes last summer so I'm really not itchin.

Man, that Avatar show last Friday one of the best I've ever seen. This band is TIGHT. Rob from Machine Head was in the crowd. I didn't want to bother him, but still cool to see him.

Red Hot Chili Peppers show in Phoenix on Sunday. The concert is at the Cardinals football stadium, and ticket prices have sunk way low. You can get in the stadium, nosebleed seats, for $25. Anybody on here see RHCP on this tour and have any comments? Since all I do at big venue concerts is watch the replay screen, I’m tempted to pay the $25 just to get into the stadium and hear it.
