Brit Floyd 50th Anniversary of "Wish You Were Here" tonight at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Detroit tonight. Should be awesome. Show is basically sold out (only tix I see available and there are very few, are resales).

My band is aiming at recording an album this fall - sometime in October or November. We've already purchased some insane cover art. It's an instrumental trio with no vocalist. We aren't playing shredder stuff - more moody and groovy. Here's a clip rehearsing a new piece from last week.

I'm way behind here... guessing this was the Saturday night show at the Masonic Temple Theater? Sunday was a great show too, Jack is always wonderful to experience live.
Alabama Shakes are coming through Meadow Brook around Labor Day. They opened the evening show for Jack back in 2012 (I think?)... when Jack did the two matinee and evening performances in the Masonic's Scottish Rite Theater.

Absolutely blown away by Brit Floyd last night at the Fox Theater, Detroit
Eva Avila on Great Gig in the Sky brought the house down, just amazing range and a total smoke show. I love how they always hit every Floyd nuance. I’ve seen Pink Floyd once, Roger Waters twice, and Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets once (what a treat that was!). Also too many to count PF cover bands (most have be great). But if Brit Floyd has to be my #1 live Floyd fix for the rest of my days, I’ll be happy…

Just saw Simple Minds. If you are an old guy like me and remember how damn awesome the Once Upon a Time album was, you will love the show. Love these guys.
Having said that, they had Modern English and Soft Cell open for them. Unfortunately, we missed Modern English. But Soft Cell was ... bad. Not good at all.

Considering a few Kingfish performances at Chicago Bluesfest...for free next week. Been following Kingfish, Christone Ingram since he was 14 and celebrated two birthdays with the young man. Once at BB Kings during International Blues Challenge and once opening up for Buddy Guy and performing with Buddy Guy for his 20th at Legends 700 S Wabash, Chicago.

I’m seeing them in July at Stone Pony Summer Stage. Bought tickets during Live Nation Concert Week so $30 with no fees.

We left pretty early into their set, just wasn’t feeling it…little too Indie for me
Didn’t help our seats had less legroom than an airplane so we were pretty uncomfortable.
Futurebirds were great though, definitely more my scene

Just found out Sigur Ros will be performing with our local symphony orchestra in November. Tickets go on sale early next week.

...by the way, in an effort to create a band name that A) sounds dope, and B) wasn't already taken, I came up with about 40 excellent examples. If y'all know anyone forming a heavy band that's looking for a name, let me know. I have some real gems that didn't get used.

We saw Band of Horses at a small venue in a small Indiana town. I love this band, but was surprised when only 4 people came out and learned that longtime keyboardist Ryan Monroe is no longer in the band. Show was still great, especially since we got there early and were right in front.
After the show we found our way to a great local bar that had karaoke and ended up partying a little with the opening band, that included one of the guitarists from BOH. It was a great night.

Seeing them open for String Cheese Incident on Thursday.
Saw this show as well. Concert was okay, Modern English was funny. They played three songs that no one ever heard of, and then they were like, okay, here is the song and played Melt with You and then they were done. I guess they know where their bread is buttered. If they don't get tired of playing that song for 40 years, I don't get tired of hearing it to be honest.
I did see O.M.D. a few days later. That was a very, very good show. Probably my favorite of he last few years. For a bunch of geezers, they were good (note, I'm a damn geezer as well). Crowd was standing the entire show which I always much prefer.

They put on a great show. When they postponed their shows, they lost their venue for a range of dates here in Tampa so they had to cancel. I’ve seen them twice. It’s a good time.
