Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (3 Viewers)

Oasis was AWESOME. One of my favorite concerts ever. Tons of hype especially with all of the videos making the rounds of their shows but they lived up to it. Great pacing, interaction with the crowd, etc. Sound at the Rose Bowl was great and man the fans knew every word. So many hits. The build up to Cigarettes and Alcohol was so much fun.

Teddy Swims - wow. First off, what a cool, humble dude. Started on YouTube 5 years ago and is now a superstar. Amazing show at the Greek. This guy is tied for my favorite vocalist with Stapleton. He is this interesting cross of Stapleton and Bruno Mars. Just loved every minute of the show. His band is super tight and he showed off the chops of his background singers. Very similar to the background singers for Tedeschi Trucks - amazing in their own right.

I’m not a huge Sublime fan but he was really good and the band had great energy. The crowd loved it.

I went to the Saturday show.

First, great that they really did what they should have done after 19 years or whatever it was, and played a greatest hits set list, nothing from the side projects. They sounded great, which is to be expected from their shows, and Liam's voice sounded better than it has in years. Down to the fireworks, it was a complete crowd-pleasing, give you all the hits performance.

Everyone in my section getting organized for the poznan was a lot of fun, some mystified wife wondering why my arm was suddenly around her shoulder, and why was she facing the wrong way? :lmao:

long walk back to the parking lot was made bearable by stopping for fish tacos and shots of Don Julio. 😎

I've seen The Who 6 times in my life, and saw them one last time in Chicago last week. This has to be it. It was honestly one of the better performances I've seen by them. A little rough in spots, but they brought it. Roger and Pete were self deprecating, funny and charming. In a Spinal Tap moment, Pete promised they weren't going die on stage tonight, that they were saving that for the Philly show. lol.

Was really surprised that Daltrey could still do it in his 80's. Crazy. Not sure if he had some backing tracks going or what, but was amazed at his performance, especially Love Reign O'er Me. Second time seeing bassist John Button who replaced Pino Palladino years ago. He was a revelation. Honestly didn't even know he was in the band the last time I saw em. Pino is an excellent player in his own style, but Button really laid into Entwistle's sound. Made a huge difference.

Best thing about the show was the setlist. Heard everything I wanted. A nice chunk from Quadropheia. The Seeker. Even got an Eminence Front which I hadn't seen live in years. Great night of music for $80. Was not disappointed. Ending with The Song Is Over and then Roger and Pete alone doing Tea & Theater was an emotional finale. One of the great bands.

I Can't Explain, Substitute, Who Are You, The Seeker, Long Live Rock, Pinball Wizard
(>)
See Me, Feel Me
(with "Listening to You" refrain),
Love Ain't for Keepin', Behind Blue Eyes, Eminence Front, My Generation, Cry If You Want, You Better You Bet, Going Mobile, The Real Me, I'm One, 5:15
Love, Reign O'er Me, Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Riley, The Song Is Over, Tea & Theatre

I went to one of the limited release viewings of "David Gilmour: Live at Circus Maximus" in IMAX last night. It really felt like you were at the show and the sound was incredible.

My only slight criticism was it was mostly his newer solo material and only a handful of Floyd songs - but the "Comfortably Numb" encore was incredible and even the newer songs sounded great live.

I believe there is another showing in October - I highly recommend getting a ticket if you're a Gilmour fan.

My daughter got the two of us Weird Al tickets for a show in June.

Best daughter ever! :nerd:
Been to a lot of shows over the years and realized this is one I have not made it to. And I am a bit sad about that.

Got my tickets to the Nine Inch Nails - Peel It Back Tour 2025 for September in LA (Kia Forum, formerly the Great Western Forum). My daughter wants to go with me.
So far we've seen Depeche Mode and Olivia Rodrigo together.
NIN TONIGHT!!!!!!!

I've seen his last several tours, minus the Jane's Addiction one. Which I am sad about. Sounds like he is going with some deeper cuts and isn't playing all his biggest hits. Looking forward to it!

The show was a lot of fun. Remixed "Closer" with the German electronica guy Boys Noize but rocked the rest of the set. Didn't play "Terrible Lie" which was disappointing. "Hurt" was epic to close the show. The crowd singing along in full voice so awesome.
Guess tonight is the final show of the tour.

I was there for the whole thing. Bob Dylan? Woof. At some point, these guys can't keep going on stage. Willie Nelson was almost in better shape than Bob. Dylan sat at the piano for 3-4 songs in almost complete darkness and then staggered off the stage without a word. Sad. Glad I got to see him back in the day a couple times.

Trampled by Turtles is great. Lukas Nelson was too, and I don't like country at all. Couple female performs that I have no idea who they are were great too.

Didn't realize Mellencamp was 73 already. His voice is shot. Sucks getting old.

Billy Strings was fantastic.

Dave Matthews too.

Eric Church was great at TD Garden Friday night. Man he had a band bigger than Tedeschi Trucks. I counted 21. Horn and string sections, great backup singers. Dude brings energy every time and sounds just like his albums. Excellent show

Can't remember if I mentioned this or not, but bought a ticket to see David Byrne in Miami on December 5th on his new album tour. Setlists have come out from the first three nights of the tour and the ratio looks like 12 Talking Heads songs to 9 David Byrne songs (6 of which are off the new album). I'll take that ratio any day of the week. Too young to have seen the Talking Heads in concert. Old enough to know this is probably the closest I'll ever get.

Nice. There are others on here who are much, much bigger fans of the Talking Heads than I am. By a lot. But I did hear he played “Psycho Killer” for the first time in nearly two decades. Wonder if it rawked.

Saw Byrne’s American Utopia tour a while back. Absolutely amazing. No way this tour will disappoint anyone imo.
I had tickets to see in in NYC and then got sick.

Hearing a lot of comparisons to the American Utopia (which the concert film directed by Spike Lee is getting a release from the Criterion Collection) tour and this one.

I was staring at the Chicago and Detroit shows and wondering if i should try for one or both of those.

If you opt for Detroit let me know, I’d meet up. My kid said “meh” and and I doubt I can convince the wife to go so as of now I’ll probably take a wait and see approach and grab tickets off the secondary market

That Detroit Venue is pretty small too

Molly's concert was very entertaining but I've seen much better. I loved the venue it was one of only 4 theaters Orlando had when I was a boy. I think that Dooleys farm was the best song of the evening. One thing I did take away from the show was she has one hell of a dobro player. Her name is Ellen Angelico and very very talented.
