Concrete Countertops (1 Viewer)

Anyone got em? The flexibility and the look is amazing. Just curious if anyone has them or knows someone that has them...any maintenance issues? Durability?

Thanks!

I really want to look into this. We are planning on moving next year to our 'forever house' to settle down with our kids and I'm planning on buying a fixer upper and designing the rehab myself.

They sound heavy.

Concrete is pretty porous, i am sure proper sealing would be a huge part of any DYI project.

Had a guy recommend this and I almost thought he was kidding. Any examples of this amazing flexibility and look?

We hated ours and replaced it after two years. We loved the look at first and were OK with the need to constantly reseal it. But within a year it started to develop a lot of little pock marks where the air bubbles that are intrinsic in concrete started to show up. It got to looking really ratty and we ended up going with a quartz, which was totally maintenance free. Maybe some companies make better quality than other, I dunno, but we were extremely disappointed.

Anyone not only have them but do it yourself?
Yep. Made some forms out of plywood, had the concrete guys pump it from the truck right into the kitchen. I troweled it myself, got it nice and smooth, then when it dried I removed the forms and sealed it. Looked like absolute crap and was a nightmare to demo and start over with granite. Would not recommend.

Of course. You did not use rebar. How deep was your foundation?
