For setting a record for the quickest a team has been eliminated from the division title, since going to a 16-game schedule...

One record that can never be broken...

Tampa Bay was eliminated in 8 weeks in 1976 when it was a 14-game schedule when they were 0-8 and Oakland was 7-1...

ETA: Workhorse mentioning the Jets getting eliminated as well...

So I guess, for the time being, they have the distinction of being possibly having the best team ever and the worst team ever. :blackdot:

For the 1st week all season long I thought the Dolphins had a good week. No embarassing LOSS followed by everyone killing them as the worst team in the history of sports.

It was a good Monday for us Dolphin fans.

Until posty came along.

Thanks.

I think the Jets got eliminated this week as well.

If the Pats beat the Bills in two weeks, they will have clinched the division.

More congrats in store: Cleo the Lemon to continue starting so that Miami can finish 0-16 the same year NE set the new record of 16-0. Come draft day with 3 potential franchise QB's staring at them, they will have no idea if Beck is the future. Thses guys are clueless.

The one thing Miami has going for them is they play in the AFC. So if STL and MIA both go winless in 2007, MIA (most likely) has the tiebreaker strength of schedule to get the #1 pick? No?

Best team ever???? Are you freaking kidding me???? Talk about a homer.

If they dont go 0-16 and take mcfadden, alldolphin fans should go to Miami and punch Huizenga in the nose.
Or at least trade it for the Cowboy's 2 #1s. As attractive as McFadden looks, they have many many issues to address. So if they can get 2#1s and some later picks since they'll likely be a late-mid round and a late late pick the Cowboys might be offering, it might work out better in the long run to have more picks. Just use them a little more wisely...

McFadden has had some great glimpses - but he is not A Peterson from what I have seen. You don't pick a RB first overall when your team is full of holes. By the time you get 1/2 of the other holes filled, that RB will be 3/4 done with their career, at best.

Not to mention that Ronnie Brown guy was having an ok season before he got hurt.

No, you take Ted Ginn. :yawn:They had huge holes LAST year and they went in an odd direction.I don't expect them to what makes sense next year either.

Actually, this record can still be broken. For example...Lions go 8-0, including 2 wins against the Bears and have a week 10 bye

Bears go 0-8, including 2 losses agains the Lions and have a week 10 bye

In the Patriots/Dolphins case, it was 8 games in 9 weeks...In this hypothetical case, the Lions will have eliminated the Bears after 8 games in 8 weeks.

Sorry to nitpick, because I'm sure it won't happen...but it is possible.

I think he's referring to the Dolphins, whose "Perfect Season" really has a very strong case for best ever. If the Dolphins lose out to 0-16, they are looking at worst ever. Pretty reasonable.
