Consensus Top 350 Albums of All-Time: 1. The Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd (64 Viewers)

1 vote- The Byrds- Mr. Tamborine Man

This is the Byrds debut album, in which Roger McGuinn whipped out his 12 string Rickenbacker guitar and basically created folk rock. If you want to know where Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers got their sound and inspiration, it’s right here: it still sounds fresh after all these years: their covers of the title track, “Chimes of Freedom”, “The Bells of Rhymney” “Spanish Harlem Incident”, and the original “Feel A Whole Lot Better” are all definitive. Love love love the sound of this record.

Huh...I haven't turned on Bruce in too long, so it seems fitting I chose this morning's drive to shuffle him...then half of the tracks that hit were all from Born To Run, including the best track in his catalog - Jungleland. Clarence's solo gets all the accolades, but it's the closing verse that follows that sends shivers up my spine.

Nobody on this board would pick a Captain and Tenille album likely in their top 70,
you just wait till Dr. O reveals the rest of my list

At this point most of your list has been shown.

13 of your 22 made the countdown and I shared 5 of your one vote albums. So only 4 are left.
I know but one of those is the excellent More Than Dancing
So now 3 are left.

Born to Run is the third studio album by the American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released on August 25, 1975, through Columbia Records. Co-produced by Springsteen with his manager Mike Appel and the producer Jon Landau, its recording took place in New York. Following the commercial failures of his first two albums, the album marked Springsteen's effort to break into the mainstream and create a commercially successful album. Springsteen sought to emulate Phil Spector's Wall of Sound production, leading to prolonged sessions with the E Street Band lasting from January 1974 to July 1975; six months alone were spent working on the title track.
I could offer up a song suggestion, but @Dennis Castro would probably pick something else just to spite me. But the joke would be on him, as there really is no wrong choice on this album. 🙃
I was leaning toward Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, but Mac and a few others suggested Jungleland and made a great case for it. Guessing that’s what your pick would be too.

This was one of those CDs I took from my dad. This is the one that has a song named after a classic novel that none of the lyrics make any reference to while album lyrics do reference several other classic novels.

If you want to go in a different direction with a deep cut I would pick Meeting Across the River. Understated, sets a scene and fills in the picture, has a beautiful trumpet throughout and Bruce uses his soft voice to good effect. Just a thought.

This was my first Zeppelin purchase because of how much I loved "Ramble On." They would get even better from here, but this is a pretty amazing record in its own right.

259. (tie) Strange Trails - Lord Huron (105 points)

I listened to this one yesterday when I walked my dog. I've heard some songs which I liked on XM radio back when I had that, but never really pursued them further. It's right in my wheelhouse and I really liked the album. My favorites were "Love Like Ghosts" and "Way Out There". Very bouncy americana type stuff but more folky than country leaning.
Awesome! I'm glad you liked it. Like jux said after this post the new one is very good and has a similar feel, and I think you'd like Lonesome Dreams as well if you got around to listening to more Lord Huron.

It's by far my favorite current walking/hiking music.

Oof, that clue went over my head. I had 0 clue what you were talking about.

My vote is for the Lemon Song. Straight up blues and perfect.
You and I might have the most polar opposite tastes in music in these activities. It's all good we love what we love and it's not a shot, it's just fascinating to me.
Not everyone has the same hang ups as you. Some people enjoy a good citrus song.
I really wish they had continued the citrus theme beyond the next album's Tangerine.

Blood Orange would make for a good song name.

Fun fact: The second pressing of LZ II labels "The Lemon Song" as "Killing Floor" as the result of a lawsuit from Howlin' Wolf who (rightly) sued them for plagiarism. After the suit was settled, future pressings restored the "Lemon Song" title.

You go too far sir - I love Tangerine!
That’s my favorite Zeppelin song. I chose a different album though.

Taking my kids to Raising Canes (we only have 1 remotely close and they think they need to try it)

Hopefully come back to a bunch of positive reviews of Ziltoid

I think it's safe to say the Stones get shut out of the Top 20. :kicksrock:
I blame The Beatles and Zeppelin.
Most likely, there will be another artist for you to blame, too.
They wish they were here in this discussion.
those animals might have 3 as well
four
Yeah, you are right.

We have bunch of stoners in our ranks!

I know a girl who reminds me of Cher,
She's always changin' the color of her hair,
But she don't use nothin', That you buy at the store,
She likes her hair to, be real orange
She uses Tangerines
Tangerines
Tangerines

Taking my kids to Raising Canes (we only have 1 remotely close and they think they need to try it)
When the first one in my area opened, my niece went there. When she came back, she said "I feel worse about humanity."
Did she say why? It is pricey but it tasted good to me.
She was mainly talking about the chaos of the line and the people in it. But she and her father (my brother-in-law) both thought it was underwhelming. They prefer Dave's Hot Chicken.
What is Raising Canes?
Fast food chicken place. All they have is chicken and tater tots.

I didn't get to Aja this morning since I listened to Songs in the Key of Life a couple times instead. Thanks again to the Stevie fans for generating my interest in giving him more of a listen. Two other things really made me interested in seeking him out - his performance on Summer of Soul, and reading Questlove's book and him crediting Stevie with creating hip-hop via his appearence on The Cosby Show. Such an amazing talent, and I love that album. I have listened to it a ton in the last year or so, but it hit the spot this morning as well so I just listened again.

I might try to sneak in Aja and What's Going on before after hours kicks in.
