Harvey Fialkov and Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) turned down a six-year, $50 million contract because only $2 million of it was guaranteed, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune. The Chargers only guaranteed $2 million because of the uncertain status of his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Reports out of New England late Saturday evening, March 11, were that Givens had decided to re-sign with the New England Patriots.

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports agent Brad Blank said a Houston Chronicle report saying free agent WR David Givens (Patriots) has re-signed with the New England Patriots was erroneous. Blank said "anything is possible" at this stage. This is the second erroneous report this weekend involving a Givens signing.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports free agent OG Steve Hutchinson (Seahawks) has been signed to an offer sheet worth $49 million over seven years. The deal includes $16 million in guaranteed money and holds a very high salary cap number for the first year. The Vikings are using a high cap number for the first year to prevent the Seattle Seahawks from matching the offer.

Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens have re-signed free agent LB Bart Scott (Ravens) to a three-year contract. Scott will receive a total deal worth $13.5 million, including a $6.5 million signing bonus. He is scheduled to earn $1 million this season, $2.6 million in 2007 and $3.4 million in 2008.

 
Randel El is a BEAR. Lloyd will make the redskins tuff if he can stay injury free. Open up more room for Moss.

redskins dumped half the team yesterday. Plus Arlington was a huge releif. They should have plenty of room now to do some signing.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James' four-year contract worth $30 million has the following breakdown: James receives an immediate signing bonus of $7 million and an additional roster bonus of $4.5 million later this week. James' base salaries are $3.25 million for 2006, $5.25 million (2007), $5 million (2008) and $5 million (2009), according to sources. The deal will pay James $20 million over the first two years. By comparison, the $62 million contract signed last week by RB Shaun Alexander with the Seattle Seahawks pays $18.5 million in the first two years.

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports those close to the Cincinnati Bengals believe they may match the offer sheet the Houston Texans signed Bengals WR Kevin Walter to for two reasons: head coach Marvin Lewis likes the way Walter improved last season and WR Chris Henry's off-the-field problems means Walter has become more valuable to them.

 
Eagles | Team reportedly agrees to terms with Howard

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports a source said the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to the terms of a six-year contract with free agent DE Darren Howard (Saints). No financial terms were disclosed. Gary Wichard, the agent for Howard, would not confirm the agreement but said he was working on a deal with the team.

This.....sucks. Colts recipe for disaster; 1. draft great LB prospect, 2. develop said prospect into pro-bowl (or near) level, 3. let great LB go to conference rivals (see Mike Peterson, for out of conference example, see Marcus Washington). New cap, restructures to clear more room, for the love of GOD...they should have signed this guy.
