Anyone else watching this? Stars Rachel Nichols, who played Scarlet in the first GI Joe movie. It's only 2 episodes in so far, but I'm really liking it so far. I think it would be just a run of the mill SyFy offering, except that Nichols is stealing the show for me. She has this very emotive quality to her that draws me in and makes me feel for her character. Reminds me a LOT of Jennifer Garner in the early days of Alias, who I thought had that same kind of quality to her.The plot is that she's a cop from maybe 60 years in the future. The corporations have bailed out and taken over the government when the government went bankrupt. They've trod on many civil liberties, and there is a resistance fighting against them. Some of them are captured and manage to time travel back to the present, and Kira (Nichols' character) is caught in it and travels back with them. She's torn between wanting to stop them, and wanting them to succeed in trying to get back to their own time so she can tag along and get back to her kid and husband. While the terrorists themselves are split between whether they should try to return to their own time, or whether they should wage their war against the corporations in our time before they take over. They are a very bloodthirsty group, which makes for an interesting situation. You may find yourself wanting to side with the terrorists who are in effect fighting for liberty, but will be disgusted with their casual disregard for innocent lives. And find yourself cheering for the cop but at the same time in many ways she's fighting for an oppressive regime. There is also a lot of cool technology that she has, including some memory implants and communications that can record and broadcast everything she sees. And the inventor of the technology has just reached the point in his work that when she arrives in our time, he starts picking up her broadcast and is surprised since he just invented the tech to be able to communicate in the secure way it uses. So he's able to see and hear what she does, and is the only one who knows she's from the future.Anyway, give it a try if you're a sci fi geek, and haven't seen it yet. It also has Lexa Doig, the Asian who played the ship avatar in Andromeda and who played the replacement to Doc Frazier in Stargate SG1, as one of the terrorists.

Caught what I guess was the premiere when I couldn't sleep. She's good looking. I really don't have the time to devote to another show but it could get promising.

I watched the first one and found it interesting. I still do not know who to root for. If they keep up the gray shading of everybody, I will keep watching it

The whole 1st season is already online if you want to look for it and watch it. It is a Canadian series so it aired earlier this year, like 10-12 episodes I think.

Yea I saw it before it aired on SyFy. Great little show. It's already been renewed for a second season. Rachel Nichols is a great piece of ###.

4 episodes in now (I think it's 4 anyway) and still liking it. If anything the lines between good guys and bad guys are getting even further blurred.

Bump. What episode is this thing on, on syfy? I got the entire first season shown already in Canada, but I'm only on episode 5. Just don't wanna skip ahead of those watching it on syfy and spoil something, in terms of discussion here.Really liking it.

Episode 5, A Test of Time. There would seem to be some interesting twists that come out of it.
I think the two schools of thought on the grandfather paradox are... either the grandparent is killed and then the person disappears and possibly the events that led up to the death may not happen to avoid paradox....Or, the direction they went with... if you change the past then your time line diverges from the original. But it doesn't "change" the previous timeline. It's just a new timeline that proceeds on its own.So we now seem to have 2 timelines now:* Timeline 1: The events we see in the future in the pilot episode. Alec is an old man with his company. He seems to know that Keira will go back in time as she showed up in his past. Kellog existed as his grandmother lived, and one could assume that the events Keira was doing now just cause her future to happen.*Timeline 2: Kellog's grandmother dies. Everything from here changes (unless they write in some other way he's alive like that girl wasn't really his grandmother). So there won't be a Kellog to be taken prisoner, to contribute to the time machine at the prison, etc. So now if Keira or anyone else does manage to go forward in time, they might find everything changed.

I was trying to figure out what Alec was looking at on his ipad thingy at the end. Was it a picture of his step brother? Like, he was snooping and it was security camera footage? Idk.

I like the idea, but I think the writing has been poor.
I think the FFA will find writing problems with any show, so without some examples I find it hard to agree. I thinks it's been good so far. Much better than I expected. The parts where it suffers are when it jumps back to 2077. But not because of the writing. Because the husband is bland.

I'm a fan of Sci-Fi, especially time travel but after watching this so far it just feels so boring. The new show Defiance (not released yet) looks good.

I went ahead and downloaded the entire season (its out there for those without moral qualms--syfy picked it up after it already ran in Canada) and I don't think its boring at all. I'm eagerly awaiting season 2 now.

I don't trust Syfy's ability to create and maintain any show anymore. At least these Canadian imports are cheap enough for them to not meddle with them and cancel them for half-hearted spinoffs.

The Brits also do sci-fi well. The writing is much more compelling for adults. Syfy seems to write more to appeal to teenagers and young adults; more violence, simple and over-the-top plots, etc. They just aren't very thought-provoking or creative.I'm sure they have done their market research so it's probably just a culture thing.

Alphas was the best thing they had produced to date, and had decent ratings (you can't tell me the Blackout show or the 5th iteration of ghost hunters are "hits"). RIP Alphas. I get the feeling the ones making the programming decisions have the attention span equivalent to an ADD child that gets fascinated with season 1 of their new toy, then looks to throw it aside for a new one every year.

Watched the series from the beginning again before watching season three to refresh my memory everything that had happened. There were parts where season three started to feel a little tedious but then they tended to move on before it got annoying.

Interesting ending to the season. Looks like it's going off in a whole new direction after this.

I enjoy this show, but it's definitely a DVR series for me - sometimes I get 2 or 3 episodes queued up before I watch. I like the time travel aspect, and the moral ambiguities as far as who you should root for. There's definitely been some issues with the show, and I've had some continuity issues myself due to the start/stop nature of how I watch the show. It can be a little tough to keep track of "when" you are.

Given the latest developments, not sure if the moral ambiguitity portion of the show is going to be maintained. Guess it's wait and see time for next season.

I'm expecting the mysterious figure to turn out to be a future Carlos. Only because he's the only person already on the show tall enough to be under that get up.

I know what you mean about DVR series. There's a few like Game of Thrones, 24, etc, that I want to see the new episodes right away. But most series I'm good with letting a whole season record and then watching them one after another.

Just finished the 3rd season last night.

Seasons 1 and 2 were better but overall I think this is worth a watch.

Unlike most series that flame out, this one appears to be set with a 6 episode wrap up season 4.
