Convince me on Aaron Rodgers (1 Viewer)

is he worth being the first QB taken off the board?

I feel like with Donald Driver out of the picture, those surefire first down hands will be sorely missed.

Id sell high. Thoughts?

What evidence do you look at as a reason to sell high other than driver? Who would you take as qb1?

A Packers beat writer predicted this week that Driver will be back, fwiw. The best thing, imo, that could possibly happen for Rodgers is for the Packers to make the transition from Driver to Cobb this season. The Packers haven't had a weapon like Cobb since...I have no idea...and they haven't even scratched the surface of what he can do in the offense. Pssst...Rodgers is a stud!

yikes... not that I dont think Cobb will be good, but if he were to "take over" for Driver, thatd leave me a little more sour on Rodgers.Trusting what Driver did for this offense on a "rookie" of sorts... mighty big shoes to fill

That's great news for your league mates!!!Driver was a good WR and he holds a special place in Packers history, but as of 5/6/2012:

Randall Cobb >>>>> Donald Driver

Brees outscored Rodgers this year. Brady outscored Rodgers last year. As far as I know, he's never finished the season as the #1 qb. Whether you should take take him as the #1 qb is a fair question.

I think waiting a round or two and still having Brady or Brees as your starter is a valid idea come draft time.

Not sure what type of scoring system you have. My league is standard scoring, and Rodgers outscored Brees by 1.5 pts despite sitting out week 17. He outscored Brees by 2 pts on a PPG basis.

Driver was already replaced by Jordy Nelson (1263 yds/15 TDs), who performed better than Driver at his best (best season 2006: 1288 yds/8TDs). Last year Driver (445 yds/6TDs) was at best the 5th receiving option behind Nelson, Jennings, Finley (767 yds/8TDs) and even Jones (635 yds/7 TDs). I don't know what the stats are on 1st downs, but I think Rodgers will somehow survive by spreading around the whopping 37 receptions Driver had last year.

As for Ryan Grant, how much better would GBs RB situation get? Short of a blockbuster trade for a 60 million dollar RB or something, who's going to make a world of difference in what is already considered one of the top, high octane offenses in the league?

As for whether Rodgers should be the 1st QB off the board, depends on the league. Dynasty? Sure. Why not? Brees and Brady are coming closer to the end of their careers. Redraft? Who cares.

I'm gonna have to see him do it again before declaring him a stud.
I'll assume this was sarcasm, but just in case it wasn't:Brady only outscored Rodgers by 10.5 pts 2 years ago (2010) despite Rodgers essentially missing almost 2 games due to a concussion. On a PPG basis, Rodgers outscored Brady by almost 1 ppg. So yeah, Rodgers has already done it twice. Or wait, has he done it 3 times? Yep, Rodgers finished as the #1 QB in 2009 too, more than 1 ppg above Drew Brees, and > 3 pts above the next-closest QB.There is zero reason to doubt Rodgers. He is in his prime, he's been a stud for 3 straight years, he has a wealth of talented targets to throw at, a coach who puts him in the right scheme.....

Driver is not going to get meaningful playing time if he is back this year, so I do not think there is a correlation with Rodgers' performance. One thing that stuck out in my mind was that the Pack organization was asked about Donald Driver and from what I remember, they had "no comment". I think they are being respectful of his Dancing With the Stars gig before making an announcement.

I love absolutes!

That would work but for the fact that all three were selected first round in my league last year. SB winner picked Rodgers 1.01.
Only an idiot would take Rodgers in the first round. You should always get your stud RB in the first.
First part of this post see above. Picking later, I actually drafted RB-RB-Romo-WR-RB and did well enough to lose in the league Super Bowl.It was Gronkowski in round 6 who likely had the biggest surprise impact to get me there though...

The guy who got Rodgers at 1.07 in our redraft league didnt even make the playoffs...and the top 8 of 12 teams make the playoffs.pretty shocking considering his numbers... you'd think it'd be a sure thing.
