We do the same, but only got $700 back. I need to shift more bills to that card. That shouldn't be an issue, as they just upped my limit on to 17.5k. I wonder if I could pay my mortgage(s) on CC?

You should be able to go online and get your reward in direct deposit or check if you want. Ours was deposited into our checking account. Spending the Costco bucks is counterproductive ... makes your reward less the next year.

We bought two Costco sectional sofas. I like them fine, but the connectors broke off half of them and there are big giant rips between most of the cushions and the couch. Not sure what to do. Taking them back seems like a lotta work and sewing them has been futile. They are comfy still and it's not like we're hosting royalty, so I don't really care, but it sucks. Would have though the quality would have been better.

How old are they? I think everything at Costco comes with a two-year warranty. Might be worth hauling back if you walk out of there with a new set for nothing more than a little inconvenience.
Aside - that's also why I make my major electronics purchases there if I can. If you buy the same TV at Best Buy, it comes with a one year warranty. But it's two as Costco, and usually cheaper as well.

Old enough to not take back, I think. To be fair, the little kids were rough on them, then we got a puppy and he was worse. They're still functional, but you can see the big rips. The busted connectors was a bigger disappointment. Look, these were like $800 or something so you get what you pay for and they served us well. Just thought Costco furniture would be a little more dependable.

My wife dealt with Costco customer service on a dishwasher purchase and install that they f'd up bigly. It took her several hours and all sorts of aggravation to get a couple hundred bucks off the whole thing. I'm not that tenacious and I'm super lazy.

On the flip side, their boxes of oranges for $10.99 are like the greatest thing in the world. There's probably 20 of them in there. What a deal! They're easy to peel and delicious. Big fan.

I would call Costco about the sofas. You never know.
Many of you know I am an Optometrist practicing inside Costco now for 27 years. They just think differently than everyone else. They pay their employees (of which I am not) well, take care of their members and do well by their vendors. They do not get involved in my business decisions other than to "suggest" that I provide god service to their members.
The only thing I haven't bought at Costco was my home solar system bc the company they worked with was 2x more expensive than another company down here. My last AC unit I got through them and when we had a problem getting a part for a warranty replace, they replaced the entire unit.

Furniture is the one thing Costco seems to do poorly. Everything I've ever looked at there gets pretty bad reviews due to poor quality.

I was a daily apple eater at work, but I started mixing it up and now, I'm all orange, all the time. The problem is my local grocer is hit or miss on oranges. Not Costco! It makes up for their crappy sofas.

Agreed. When the tables and desks arrive they look nice. Two weeks later and the shopping karts and kids expose the crappy finish and pressboard/fiber insides.

If you use the Costco Citi card to make your purchase I believe the warranty doubles.
We ended up with a 7 year warranty on our Sony TV we purchased a couple of years ago due to some promotion they were running and me using my Citi card.

IMO Costco by a long shot!
We were Sam’s customers for quite a while. My wife went to Costco with her friend once and then started going anytime the friend was going and buying our stuff under her friends card.
I eventually went on a preview day and agreed it was much nicer. It feels a little more expensive than Sam’s (no idea if that is actually true) but worth it to us.

I was walking into Costco after work last week and realized every single piece of clothing I was wearing other than my shoes was from Costco. My first thought was abject disgust with myself, depression and shame. Then I got over it.

I hide stuff at Costco so after it’s sold out I go to my secrete hiding spot and retrieve the items at 1/3 the price.
At some point last year I hid a pair of gardening gloves for my wife that were $30. I paid $10 for them yesterday.

One Costco policy I don't like is that they only allow two members per household. I wish it was four so I could have cards for my kids who are at college. Anyone know a way around this? If I said I lost my card and got a new one, do you know if they deactivate the old one?

Do you and your wife both need one? If you never go seperate you could get one card for you and one card for one of your kids. It does not solve the issue of the other kid though.

I'm a Sam's guy... but kind of by habit. Got a membership through work 20 years ago and still go (changed jobs so work no longer pays). I've only been to Costco a few times and found the club itself (at least the one nearest me) to be very disheveled and extremely crowded. I didn't notice any products that were significantly different than Sam's. I also use Sam's for gas (5% back on Sam's CC). And maybe the real kicker for me is location. Sam's is much more convenient to me.
All that being said... if anyone has real comparative experience, I'd be open to change if it's worth it.

Don't think sharing would work. I often get gas separately which I anticipate could be a problem.

Interesting... I get some pretty darn good beef at Sam's. Both Prime and Choice. Not sure I've ever tried their pork or poultry.

So if you want both of your kids to use the app, both you and your wife will have to have Costco.com accounts and add your membership number to it. Then one of your kids will have to login as you and the other one your wife. It does use your picture and the membership can only be added to one app at a time. You can transfer it back and forth but after the first time, I think it adds a time delay.

Do you have the Costco Citi credit card? If so, your membership barcode is on the back of it. If your wife is an authorized user on the Citi account and has her own card, you can then give your two Costco membership cards to your kids.

Costco has it's own meat plants, at least for beef, but probably other meats too. They don't buy it from some processor. They do it themselves. I've had the opportunity to go through their West Coast beef plant, and it's one of the most impressive facilities I've been to in my life. And I've been though literally hundreds of food processing facilities, so that's saying something.

I had an issue with a dishwasher install through Costco a couple years ago but it was really entirely due to Costco partnering with a crappy local plumbing company on their included free install. They wanted to charge me a couple hundred bucks for permits and I laughed about that, installed it myself, but still wanted them to haul away the old one. When they refused, we had a few nasty phone calls but it worked out in the end.
I once bought a spin bike from Costco, beat the hell out of it for over a year, then returned it when the handlebar bent one day. I had bought it online, didn't have the box or any documents and didn't disassemble it - just loaded it on one of those flat carts and wheeled it into the return line at a store in Chicago. They refunded with no questions asked. Great company.

Here's another little interesting Costco story, and a little background.
Pretty much everything you purchase and eat has passed though a metal detector and/or x-ray to detect foreign material. Most of the times both, and more than once. The sensitivity of these machines is such that they can detect, and reject a package that contains a metal flake that is smaller than a head of a match. It's industry standard now, but it wasn't always. How did this happen, you ask? It wasn't the FDA or USDA that drove this originally. It was Costco, about 25 years ago. Any time a food manufacturer was awarded a Costco contract, it came with the stipulation that all products sold to them would have to pass metal detection, and processors scrambled to come into compliance. The value of the contract was all the motivation they needed.
