Cotchery vs Holmes (1 Viewer)

Who ends up w/the better year? Cotchery is obviously winning so far, but if the Steelers can get a passing game going, I see Holmes taking it.

Thoughts?

Cotchery. I don't see Santonio breaking out sooner, later or ever this year.
Heh, fwiw, I agree... happen to own both in my main (start 3 WR) redraft league, and have been trying to package them together to get a stud WR (from a team lacking WR depth); no luck so far b/c no on values Holmes in this league.

Holmes, by far.Just what the games and you will see how easy is to answer that question.Cotch is classic fools gold.

I agree totally. Holmes is being targeted fairly heavily and it's just a matter of time before he gets rolling. I like Cotchery as well but if I had neither on my team and both were on the waiver wire I would take Holmes without a second thought.

How can someone who has a proven history of production be fool's gold? He's basically doing what was expected of him after the Jets acquired Favre. He isn't overachieving or surprising. He's delivering as expected. And yes, I'm a Cotchery owner. However, I'm a Cotchery owner who also thinks Holmes will break out. To the Holmes owner who can't trade him, it's crazy how different leagues can be sometimes. I've been trying to trade for him for weeks but his owner won't budge in my league. I think he's due for some huge games - possibly starting this week. To answer the OP's question - I think Cotchery has more value in PPR leagues but I pegged him as a Top 15 WR in that format this year so I obviously like him a lot. But I think Holmes will be Top 20 in most formats and be a strong producer from here on out.

This is the correct answer in this thread.
True. I'd also state that Cotchery is the choice if you like consistent performance. Holmes is the guy who will (eventually) win a game for you, but will come up with a bad performance more often than we'd like.I'm wrestling with Holmes this week, to start or not, over Housh. My other starting WRs have been consistent, so I'm inclined to go with Holmes.

Holmes caught 57% and 61% of his targets the last two years and is sitting at 50% this year. Cotchery caught 65% the previous two years and is at 76.5% this year which puts him 7th in the league. The league leader from 2007 was Wes Welker at 77%, 2006 Pat Crayton was at 75%, its hard imo to believe that Cotch will keep this pace up for the whole year and to me, that means his numbers for the first 5 games are as good as they are going to get unless he gets targeted more often (which he could, he was at 7.8 and 7.9 t/g the last two years and this year hes at 6.8 but Farve usually spreads the ball around pretty well).
