Could Joey Harrington possibly save the Phins season? (1 Viewer)

He has an easy enough schedule and the weapons around him. If the O-Line can get their act together, could Joey Harrington, (... GULP...) be a descent fantasy option for the rest of the season? I must say despite his two picks, he did get McMike, Welker, and Chambers involved. This week he gets the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. I could easily see 250 yards and 2 TD's?

Thoughts??

I would like to see Harrington do well.

In Detroit every once in awhile he put up a 3 TD game. This could be the week.

He is more agile, which is important behind the sorry excuse for an offensive line.Daunte was sacked 5 times per game in three games. Joey once. This alone will help, hopefully it will be enough to get us back on track.

He's less likely to freelance than Culpepper, and he is making MUCH quicker decisions than Culpepper was.

He will be the same old Joe - some nice plays, and some bad plays - but he is more likely to duplicate the success the team had with Frerotte, who played to minimize mistakes rather than make big plays.

Here is my answer and thoughts on the question.No.Until this team gets their OL together it does not matter. We can't run the ball with any consistency and Daunte was only a small problem because it is quite obvoius he is not 100% nor does he have his trademark mobility and strength. When Daunte is fully recovered from his aweful knee injury and he has the chance to play without thinking about his knee you will see a different team. I mean let's cut this guy a little slack. He shredded his knee and did not miss one workout or practice and played week 1. He should have been still rehabbing but he was determined to earn his money. Saban should have made the decision to sit him till he was fully recovered. I feel a seasoned NFL coach would have. Saban showed his inexperinence as an NFL coach with how he handled this QB situation.Joey Harrington is a decent QB at best. Do not be suprised after we lose to the Jets and fight for lives to get a win (yet still we may lose that one too) against the Packers that Culpepper is back in the mix after our week 8 bye. Culpepper is the franchise QB and there is no question about that down here. Those of us know that a healthy Daunte Culpepper with the weapons he has here will return to his 2004 form sooner rather than never as most think. He had a hectic 2005 with the love boat incident, losing Moss, a lame duck coach and his displeaure about his contract. He has not lost it. He has been a great QB in this league. 5 bad games does not end a career. The start he had here in Miami is due to his injury and a lack of health for the most part as well as this crapfest OL.The buzzards are circling over Saban though. The media has had it with his arrogance and the way he handles himself with the press. For a guy who has won nothing at this level he sure talks a great game. Also the press is now questioning the selection of Ronnie Brown. There have been comments about he is not special and does not have the "it" factor. He does many things good but nothing great. I say he is a good back but has yet to show it week in week out. But remember this is his first year as the "guy" and this OL is aweful. In fact it is an embarresment. This year for the Dolphins is a rebuilding year. The press trumpd this team up and a lot of people bought into the hype. Long term if your a dynasty owner with Culpepper, Brown, and Chambers, be patient and reap the rewards next season when this ship will turn in the right direction. I fully expect the OL to be addressed through free agency and the draft. As far as redraft, cut your losses with C.Pep if you have not already or if you have aanother good option hang on to him and Chambers for a late season run. Also remember this team scored only 10 points with Joey. 10. Not an improvment at all.

Joey had a bad O-line in Detroit too and did not perform well. He does not make accurate throws under pressure. He does have a better core of WR/TE/RB at Miami vs. Detroit, but the O-line is probably worse.

I think the change of scenery is good, but I don't see how Saban will be able to get more out of Joey than his previous 3 coaches in Detroit. I don't see much upside for him unless the O-line play improves dramatically.

The OL does play better when the QB doesn't hold the ball too long also. Culpepper wasn't the best at quick-reading the defenses.

Not unless he can duplicate Ricky Williams too

He's underrated.

It happens. Decent QB ends up on a bad team with a bad OL and a bad coach with lazy overrated WRs. Bascially what he had in Det. Is he going to lead a team to greatness. Nah. But he can certainly be an adequate NFL QB.

And he's better than Culpepper. Pepper has been useless since Moss left, and based on his coaches (Tice and the new Minn guy), all he cares about is getting paid.

Wow. All I can say. But I will try. Please stop telling people who terible the Lions O-Line was. Harrington was one of the less sacked QBs for all four years.

And what has Moss done since C.Pep?Oh and if I remember correctly Moss missed half of C.Pep's 2004 where he could have been co MVP with Manning. Culpepper was putting up monster games without Moss that season.

This guy was once 100 FEET TALL!! I lost some points switching to Ronnie last week but Joey looks to keep more drives alive and thats a lot right now considering on how poor MIA has played.

Depends if Nick Saben can save Joey. If the Oline was performing last season I would say yes but they are flat out underachieving as a unit.

I was amused to see Mooch on the NFL network a few days ago talking about what an awful decision Saban made by putting Joey in and that he'll never be anything but a journeyman back up and can't start in the NFL and on and on.

Yeah, there were no issues between them at all

What did you expect him to say? That Harrington just needed to go somewhere else because whatever coach he played for in DET sucked, and couldn't get the other 10 guys around him to play well?

wow. It reminds me of the Oakland game where Brooks was taking 7 step drops and then pump-faking... kind of like Culpepper behind that sorry O-line. Harrington will be an improvement but it won't actually matter. (FF-wise culpepper still put up average numbers. So should Harrington). I have him a couple spots higher than FBG does but who knows.

He is better then Culpepper currently, and that makes Chambers, McMichael, and Brown more valuable.

As far as saving their season...who cares this is fantasy football.

This is true, but might be misleading. Joey was very quick to check down to a RB or throw it away. Joey hardly ever made plays down the field partly due to the west coast system, but also the OL was not very good so plays did not have time to develop. Woody has been a bust since he signed, Backus and Railoa are average starters at best and they are best the line has. Others have come and gone: Gibson, McDougal, Kosier et. al. Bottom line Joey at least so far has shown he is not a QB that can make plays on his own, he might be able to develop into a "game manager" type of QB in the Trent Dilfer mold, but to do that he will need better OL play then he got in Detroit or is getting in Miami.
