The Washington/Atlanta game will make all of this clearer next week . Washington looks awful right now though, if they won another game I'd be shocked.

I think taking Clowney at #1 overall is a major mistake. You won't become great in this league unless you are willing to put the time in and wholly committ to the process. Clowney looks like an immense natural talent who will be good even if his commitment is marginal, but in the NFL, if you don't respond to coaching and completely dedicate yourself, greatness is not going to happen. At #1 overall, give me the guy who may have a little less talent but the greater will to succeed. I've got to tell you, Clowney has not helped himself one bit this year.

I agree....I think they look worse than my Texans right now, and that's saying something...
See, I do agree with you on stuff! :)
Hahaha....you're always cool with me man! So do you agree with me that we've got a shot to win this week? Seems like the Colts are ripe for team with nothing left to lose and the shadow of Kubiak gone....Or did Luck find something today to right the ship going forward?

I think they've definitely got a shot, obviously not as good as the Titans game at the end of the year.

I really don't know how the team is going to react. Do they rally after the coach getting fired, or come out flat? I could see it going either way honestly.

I think Kubiak being fired is almost like a relief. I see them playing wild and carefree which could be dangerous to the Colts....they arent playing well and dont seem to have a lot to play for after today. We've got no shot against Denver in two weeks, but this game and the game at the Titans are in play I think, which leaves securing the top pick still in doubt. Washington looks completely done-Id fire Shanny ASAP and sure as hell dont want to hear rumors about him coming here....

Speaking of Denver, I believe today's results mean Denver can't clinch the #1 seed before the game with Houston. So the Broncos will have to play to win.

I could see the Texans beating the Titans

I dont think the Skins (lucky Rams) win again but theyve got Atlanta next week...wonder how tie breakers look now if Hou wins a game and a combination of those teams tie

Team with the harder strength of schedule gets the higher draft pick.
Think its the team whose SOS is easiest gets higher pick....means you suck more I guess, just dont know what it is now for them. Hou and Atl were very close last week I believe but Im sure it changes each week

ESPN has a draft order they update each week but they haven't done this week yet. Last week it had this, last column is SOS:

1 Houston Texans 2-10 .167 .556

2 St. Louis Rams** 5-7 .417 .535

3 Jacksonville Jaguars 3-9 .250 .542

4 Atlanta Falcons 3-9 .250 .556

5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-9 .250 .590

6 Minnesota Vikings 3-8-1 .292 .514

7 Oakland Raiders 4-8 .333 .479

8 Cleveland Browns 4-8 .333 .493

9 Buffalo Bills 4-8 .333 .542

I believe the Texans opponents added 9 wins and 7 losses.

Atlanta opponents added 10 wins and 6 losses.

The value for the Washington pick owned by the Rams in the previous post isn't right, they put the Rams in there. From another source, Washington had an even worse .521.

If that's all correct, Texans would be 1 game ahead of Atlanta should it come to a tiebreak. Washington's pick owned by St. Louis probably wins any SOS tiebreak with Houston or Atlanta as they are too far apart to close the gap realistically.

the Rams regular pick is climbing too. Wouldn't be surprised to see that one ending up around 6 or 7. They could be drafting 2 and 7

Yes, you're right...team with the lower SOS gets the earlier pick. My mistake.

Bucs are 9th pick now if they draft today, and they could beat Stl. and end up with a pick 10-15. I don't think there is any chance they beat SF or NO. Stl could be looking at two top 10 picks if they lose to Tampa. I doubt they beat SF or Sea.

With the way Clemens is playing, the Rams aren't beating anybody

If the Vikings lose out (likely if Peterson doesn't play) they only need the Falcons and Redskins to win one for the #2 pick.

The Redskins/Falcons play next week and the loser pro. The Falcons play the 49ers and Panthers after that and likely won't win either. The Redskins play the Cowboys and Giants and the Giants game is winnable for them.

The Jaguars are going to be thinking about what these wins have cost them for a long time.

that is what i thought about the window to close the gap in SOS shrinking between WAS and the other teams, with just a few games remaining. thanks, greg.

NFL Network Albert Breer says that Alabama QB AJ McCarron could be the first quarterback taken in next year's NFL draft.

He says AJ is in a similiar situation to Tom Brady when Tom was in Michegan where Brady was surrounded by a slew of talent and scouts knocked him for the superior supporting cast and missed Brady's competative edge. He claims AJ McCarron is similiar to Brady in both reguards and he feels he will rise quickly prior to the draft.
I believe McCarron can be a starting QB in the NFL but I think he's closer to Alex Smith than Tom Brady.

STL already played SF twice, NO would be the other team in question among the three games remaining. I would still agree that they likley lose that contest (even though NO is in STL, if an away game for the rams it would be a formality, if it isn't already - but any given Sunday, and that's why we play the games), which is why i think they finish 6-10 at best (maybe even 5-11) as TB has played much better since turning their play around. Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten that was a game with consequences for how the top 10 deck is shuffled, if not the top 3-5 (like WAS @ ATL next Sunday).

If it ends up like it currently is, I would think there's a very large chance that Cleveland would do what it had to to get to #1 to take the QB they liked best.

And Houston would still say no.
No they wouldn't.
It seems there are a lot of people of this opinion.

I have a feeling I will be arguing with them a lot about this throughout the offseason.
You don't think they'd be willing to trade up and are willing to go with Hoyer?

Not saying it's not a valid viewpoint. I just can't imagine that they would. But then again, it's not the Factory of Sadness for nothing.

I don't think there's anyway Houston trades away Bridgewater.

They might say yes to an extra pick in the first and more and still be able to get someone like Manziel

Personally I'd like to stay put and take Bridgewater as well though

I suppose he could pull a Ponder but I dont see him going in round 1
It's simply supply and demand. He's a near lock for the 1st as long as he doesn't murder anyone.
Yeah, Manziel is going in the first. I don't agree with it, but it's supply and demand. Like you said.
I'll wait to see who comes out first before I go with the supply and demand. How many QB's do you see picked in the first and who are they?

Mariota has already said he's staying. Hundley wants to come out but is being advised not to.

There will be three QBs taken in the 1st - Bridgewater, Manziel, and Carr.

You cant see McCarron being picked ahead of him? Tajh Boyd? BOyd could be a stretch

This article sums up my feelings on Manziel.

,,,at times this season Manziel has been better. He won't crack the 1,000-yard rushing mark, but that's by choice. He has chosen to protect his body and throw more, run less -- he has 654 rushing yards in 11 games -- and with two games left he is on pace to throw for more yards (4,200, compared to 3,706 last season) for more touchdowns (he has 32, compared to 26) with better accuracy (69.1 percent, compared to 68.0 percent) and better pass efficiency (174.9 compared to 155.3).

And this is the season that has ruined Manziel's shot at being considered an all-time great? Because Texas A&M has lost three times, and great players can't lose three games in a team sport like football? Manziel threw for 464 yards and ran for 98 yards in the loss to Alabama. He threw for 454 yards and ran for 48 yards in the loss to Auburn. Those losses prove he's not great?

That's silly. Instead of hiding behind an argument that doesn't hold water, come out in the open and say what you want to say: You don't like Manziel. You think he sold those autographs. You think he's a punk and a partier. I'd agree with you on some of that, but not all of it, and either way what does any of the off-field stuff have to do with what we've seen on it?

Not remotely.

I think he is 6ft 200lbs

I will bet you any amount of money that this statement is false.
More? Less? Different names?

I'm going to have to disgaree for the moment. If McCarron makes some NFL type throws in workouts he's a lock (IMO) to go ahead of Manziel.

If Hundly comes out he's going ahead of him too
