Cowboys at Texans (1 Viewer)

Green with 2 nice runs for a first down. last week i thought he looked a little stiff, this week he looks better

throwback screen to Daniels....DRAFT THIS GUY

3 plays in a row Cowboys pressure on Schaub, hit as he throws on 3rd down incomplete, ANOTHER target for Daniels

So the missed extra point...

Gramatica's fault? Bad snap?

Just trying to determine who's going to be Dallas' kicker this season...

Id

Romo is not very accurate at all tonight. TO drops a 3rd down pass that's behind him, but offsides gives them another chance, then a high throw incomplete to Crayton

The green sticker on the back of the Hou helmet is really irritating.

That's all I've got.

Oh, and Ahman looks good.

don't jar

 Thanks for updates, guys.I'm in a deep league that has pts. for return yards. I've been eyeing Jacoby Jones on the wire but haven't made a move yet. After everything I read, I told myself I'd give him one more game, and if he did something special I'd grab him.Lucky for me I read this post. Had I waited until tomorrow, he'd likely already been gone. (Esp. with a Texans homer in our league). So big ups and thanks again. Also, to echo previous poster, is Jacoby seeing any time at WR with first string?Everything I've read about this guy is he's pretty much the starter, they just don't want to admit it yet ...
again, he is rotating with Walter . . .like the coach said last week . . . he is WR 2 1/2 . . .translation: he is WR2 in a few weeks . . .
Thanks. That's what I"ve been reading between the lines. Only a matter of time before promising rookie with big play potential unseats ho-hum journeyman vet for WR2.
a few weeks may be a few days . . .

Shaub appoaches an unsuspecting fan and asks him "What do think of the Texans new QB"?

the guy says "I dont know, I just know he was like the 3rd string Qb in Atl."

Shaub says "Nah I think he was the 2nd string guy."

Guy says "Nah he was the 3rd string guy."

That was pretty funny.

He won the job several weeks ago. He's could out do Calvin this year with single coverage.

You 2 fellas might wanna take another look at the texans schedule. When I first saw it I thought it was tough but now that I see it I dont think so.

Sep 9 Kansas City 1:00pm -- They look absolutely horrible.

Sep 16 @Carolina 1:00pm -- Dont look like the world beaters that some thought they were last year.

Sep 23 Indianapolis 1:00pm -- Loss-- yeah i know we beat them last year but it happening this year.

Sep 30 @Atlanta 1:00pm -- aint so tough no more.

Oct 7 Miami 1:00pm -- I mean really, have they shown anything that says they cant be beat?

Oct 14 @Jacksonville 1:00pm -- We always play these guys tough and they are always an enigma.

Oct 21 Tennessee 1:00pm -- Who knows here. team doesnt look good but they have a winner under center.

Oct 28 @San Diego 4:05pm -- loss

Nov 4 @Oakland 5:15pm -- I think we are better than them.

Week 10 BYE

Nov 18 New Orleans 2:00pm -- loss

Nov 25 @Cleveland 2:00pm -- I think we are better than this team.

Dec 2 @Tennessee 2:00pm -- read week 7

Dec 9 Tampa Bay 2:00pm -- Gruden has ruined this team. I dont need to say anything esle.

Dec 13 Denver 9:15pm -- loss

Dec 23 @Indianapolis 2:00pm -- loss

Dec 30 Jacksonville 2:00pm -- read week 6.

Yeah its a long shot but 10-6 or 9-7 is not out of the question.

Texans have no where to go but up. They have a lot of young talent on this team, especially on defense.

The Cowboys havent just been beating people, they have been beating people down and the Texans stopped them on D and scored on them on O. Colts and Broncos couldnt do it. Schaub is as good as advertised. I have been getting this guy in late rounds, got him in the 12th last night as a matter of fact.

I think the Cowboys will be better on defense when Glenn is in the nickel where he belongs and TNew is back at the starting corner spot. I still like the Cowboys to make a nice run this year.

Enjoyed the game immensely last night. Texans need work on pass protection and pass rush still, but were doing a good job opening holes for the running game.

Glad to send them Yankees from Dallas packing back up to Oklahoma or wherever it is they are from.

Best shirt seen at the game: If the Cowboys are America's Team then I'd rather be Canadian.

You know it's bad somewhere when you take pride in winning a preseason game.

exactly lolJust another preseason game for dallas but this was Houstons superbowl. The Dallas D is not the same with Newman out, thats apparent.

It is preseason, but tell me the last time that the Texans had TWO WRs that looked this good both now and for the future? When did they have a QB who exuded confidence and made the throws accordingly? When did they have a RB that was not just a product of the system but a guy who will get yards on his own, YAC, make small gains into big ones and carry the team on his back? And an OL that seems to open some holes too.

I can't say much about their defense, which seems to still have issues although seems somewhat improved... but the offense really has potential down in Texas.

I was impressed with the play I saw last night on both sides of the ball for the Texans. I still think we're going to be inconsistent throughout the year and end up somewhere in the 6-8 wins range (hoping for 8 wins! whoo-hoo!)Dunta Robinson had an outstanding game matched up against TO. Jacoby Jones showed he is a weapon in punt returns and on the field. He won't be flying under anyones radar anymore. I did see him make the occasional rookie mistake like miss a block downfield, one was an underneath pass to AJ and if Jones had made his block AJ would have been freed for a looong gain. The o'line still needs work obviously but the d'line finally stepped it up last night and had a great game (Mario haters be damned.) The run blocking looked great, the pass blocking was up and down Couple of jailbreaks on occasion. I did see Schaub hang in there and make 1 or 2 throws that I don't think Carr could have even have tried last year.Special teams play on kickoffs and field goals was awful (for the Texans AND Cowboys.) Kris Brown still has the shanks and Jerome Mathis looked very tentative on kick returns. He kept going sideline to sideline trying to create something, sometimes you just got to run forward and take what they give you.Romo did not impress me. He looked terrible last night compared to the games I watched last year. His interception was against our 2nd string defense and a rookie CB! Dallas made the fatal mistake of not trying to throw deep unless they went to TO who was covered up by Dunta. They kept trying to run up the gut or pass short to start out the game, but our d'line held up for the 1st time in I don't know how long. Our secondary is paper thin after Dunta, throw deep against us, that's the way to beat us.What's encouraging is I did see the rookie CB Bennett we got in the 4th round was in there and making some plays at times (he had the INT against Romo while covering TO.) He also was getting burned making some rookie mistakes at times too though. I remember reading the team was very happy to get him, said his disappointing 40 time had dropped him in the draft, but he was a good player.PS It was great to see an actual RB like Ahman do his thing compared to the 3 headed monster we had last year. I have endzone seats so you can often see how fast holes open and close, Ahman was great at seeing these and hitting them once they opened. Oh, and Dayne sucks at short yardage. They put him in on 2nd & 3 and he got 1 yard and a cloud of dust. He then got pulled for Ahman on 3rd and 2 which Ahman converted.

If you think any Dallas-Houston NFL game, whether preseason or not, doesn't matter to Texas fans of both teams, then you are indeed well-named that you're just a wanna-be.

 Previous posters are clueless. They just take for granted the Houston will suck.

It's typical Dallas fan behavior. Had they won, it be all about how great Dallas is, since they lost it's "oh, it's only preseason!"

Yeah, after being at the game and seeing just what the game meant to the Cowboy fans, having some Cowboys fan who probably lives in Chicago talking about how it doesn't matter to his team is kind of like listening to that Iraqi spokesman from the first Gulf War.

Strike a nerve? No need to get personal. The game was taken a lot more seriously by the Texans and it showed in how they played the game. But in the end it was a preseason game. I'm glad that you enjoyed the victory.

Well, I think you're speaking without facts. To group up an entire fan base and label them is pretty ignorant. Dallas has already won games in the preseason........if you want, take a few minutes in those threads and check to see if I'm in their gloating about how good they are and how much those games meant. The games are preseason. They do not count........If they lose to them in the regular season, which they have before then I would be upset. The fact that they lost the preseason game doesn't bother me at all, just like when they beat Denver didn't make me buy a ticket to Vegas to put 10000 down on them winning the SB.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.........Houston has to go out and prove that they don't. They aren't going to change how people think about them until they make some noise in the regular season. They have been bad in general, those are the facts. To their defense they look like they may be a little better offensively this year and played well in their preseason game last night but that's not going to do it. Go .500 or better, get in the playoff race down the stretch of the regular season......that's how you make some noise and earn respect. You wanna say how much that game meant to the Texans, fine. I say maybe that's part of the problem, a preseason game shouldn't mean that much to anyone. Try focusing that much when it counts, they could be dangerous.

I'm not getting that impression from Texan fans. I think they are pleased at what they are seeing compared to how they have looked in the past. If I was a Texan fan I would be happy as hell too at the progress regardless if it's a preseason game or not.
