Cowboys toying with the idea of trading Dez Bryant? (1 Viewer)

Seems hard to believe but here is the story from PFT. Considering that the Florio team routinely botches stories, reads too much into things, and runs them too fast without all the details; I'd take this with a grain of salt. They also have have some good reads. I understand that PFT is just passing this story along.

I thought it was crazy talk too, but I heard about this on Ben & Skin (sp.) on ESPN 103.3 in in the DFW area yesterday morning. Now I missed how it came up, but Brian Broadus (former NFL scout & the OFFICIAL scout of GAC- Galloway & Co.) dropped this bomb on them and they were fielding calls about it.

I too think it's crazy, but I am surprised to see that it has come up again. I wonder if PFT (haven't read the article yet) is just referencing this radio program's hypothetical scenario?

ETA: I read it & I know Watkins is somewhat plugged in, but the "front office" IS Steven & Jerry Jones, so I can't imagine they'd be willing to deal Dez so soon. Maybe Steven, but not Jeruh...

Disclaimer: I have Dez in a zealots dynasty & think that Big D is about the best place for him. If they are so concerned about something happening "off-field," then why would someone else bite?

Might be an interesting match with the Pats. Maybe the boys are looking to load up on picks in a stacked draft, and can New England really pay all of these top 100 picks they have? A healthy Dez would be quite a prescence on that team.

New England can afford all those top picks if a rookie wage scale is put in place before they are signed.I sure would like the Dolphins to get Dez, after Jeff Ireland completes his due diligence of course.

It's the Cowboys, they can't be that crazy...
Was there any talk of Dez effing about this season? All I heard of was praise for being the first rookie to sign, first on the practice field, last one off, etc...then we saw his beastly play and of course he was one of the few you couldn't accuse of quitting when the season went sour.I follow the cowboys closely and I'm a Dez owner, so I would have thought I'd have sniffed news of his sloughing off.

What a terrible article.

The Cowboys would think about listenting to offers? What the hell does that even mean?

So, let me get this straight: The Cowboys told the press that it would think about trading Dez, but are then going to quickly deny it, because they didn't realize Dez would hear about it?

Make that make sense to me.

There have been a few articles recently that indicated that Dez was frequently late for meetings. He also was regularly acused during the season of not knowing the playbook. There's also discussion that Ray Sherman, the previous WR coach, was buffeting criticism for him and enabling him. With Sherman now gone, that buffer is gone. Like Steed indicated earlier in this thread, its probably about the team telling Dez to get his act together. It takes more than top atheletic ability to make it in this league.

This is nothing more than Stephen Jones sending Dez a message to stop effing about.
Or to his Dad to remind him that he paid "an arm and a leg" for the guy about to be a permanent backup so this is what Stephen has to do to make it so his dad doesn't look downright silly making that trade. Plus the fun hidden nugget with the Roy Williams trade debacle is it came on the day that Pacman (he seems OK to me) was suspended by the NFL which just sorta adds a wasted fourth round pick to the day.

Except the suspension triggered the clause in the deal sending the Titans '09 5th to Dallas. It's not a big deal anyhow, the titans whiffed on the dallas pick and the cowboys whiffed on the one they got back.

This 2011 class of rookies is very un-stacked. It has been said that maybe 20 players even get a first round grade, unlike in past years where middle of the second round and even into the third round had some first round graded players. With all the players going back to school, this class is very dull.

I'd like to think any team would field offers for any player at any time if the opportunity presents itself to get a bargain (see Vikings for Moss).

Other than his injury concerns this year, he's an explosive return guy and a talented WR- any team would benefit from having him and I doubt there would be many that would rule out even considering taking him. As long as Dallas still has Roy Williams on the roster, they have a need for a quality WR.

This is what you get from listening to Ticket throw-aways like Ben and Skin. You should be listening to Norm anyways after all he is the "king of all talkshow hosts". All Ben and Skin know how to do is rap and act like they are really hip.....which is a big bag of nutthin. :babyarm:

Surely he never returns another kick again.

I don't follow it, but thanks for the update :blackdot: I'm just going off pundit speak, but you are right about a lot of guys staying in school. Are they worried about the stoppage?

Or maybe it's just a crap story. What "message" do they need to send to the kid? As others have said, he is one of the harder workers on the team.

Exactly. There is no message to Bryant, there also is no chance they trade him, It's not like they could get a higher pick than they spent on him, or get a better WR in a deal for him.

Showing up late to practice would suggest otherwise.

PossiblyKeep in mind, Michael Irvin was an extremely hard worker, but he was also a cokehead who frequented the "ladies" at the White House often. You can work hard, but also be a #######. The kid is young, and now has some money. I hope like hell he stays on the straight path.I hope there is nothing to the story
