Cowboys vs Rams - Week 1 (1 Viewer)

ehh, don't think we can blame the flaf for why the Cowboys lose this. McCarthy will be saying his prayers if that is the narrative

That’s a terrible way to lose a football game
Watching on replay it was clearly not an interference.  Both guys have a hand on the other and neither is grabbing or pushing.  I hate when one call is the difference in a game and I don't even like the Cowboys.

seriously, some of these guys are pushing 70 years old. the nfl has an officiating problem, has for several years, and does nothing about it but keep employing the good ol' boys who keep missing calls. don't care about either of these teams, but that's bunk

The crowd sounds are kinda silly. Earlier today watching some of the Patriots game, before halftime and the Patriots ran it and kicked a field goal before halftime and they had a booing crowd, like they hated the call.

Live, I certainly thought that was OPI, so I can't fault the official for thinking the same.

This wasn't even in the same league as the uncalled blow to the head on Goff when he threw his INT.

Call was fine.  Ramsay stuttered from the push.  You think he would fake that there?  Cmon.
Has to be trolling. Or a moron. Fairly obvious he faked it there. If you wanna call that call Ramsey for touching Gallup’s arm. Illegal contact!

I’m a Niner fan who hates the cowboys. They got jobbed

The NFL tried to do something about it and everybody got gaslighted into taking the side of the refs instead of the NFL

Terrible call.  But Dak’s not leading this team to the Super Bowl.   People forget his stats last year were half garbage time.

he’s not elite imo

That said, Dallas inexplicably did not kick that FG.

They lost the game right there
Honestly, I thought that was the right call. There was almost an entire quarter left. They maybe should have run a different play, but I wouldn't say that cost them the game. If there was under 5 minutes left maybe they kick it.

Also, LA likely plays more aggressively if its tied and maybe they get a FG, instead of trying to just run out the clock.

Nah, Cowboys just didn't look good tonight. A lot of work to do. LA may be better than we thought though.
The Rams went 9-7 last year, and were in the Super Bowl the year before. People talk about all the guys they lost, but really was it anyone all that important? They have zero depth, but the starting lineup is still pretty damn good.

Haha. I heard too. Sound guy hit wrong button.

Yep, I thought OPI.  On replay though, it was a bad call.  But damnnnn that shot to Goff's head on the INT... how do you miss that???

2020 Cowboys looks identical to previous years.

-Porous defense that can’t get a stop and takes dumb penalties.
-An offense full of stars on paper that cant get it done under pressure.
-Terrible play calling.
-Awful call leading up to going for it in 4th down.
- Refs absolutely killing us (I admit we got away with one on the interception)

Rinse and repeat.

baby soft call.

also mccarthy should have just went for the FG. the 4th and x plays are the new trend

I will never believe that was the right call. They had a chance to tie the game in he 4th quarter. They left 3 points off the board. On purpose. Just....wtf
I would go for it there probably every time. The percentages back that up. You don't get it, and you pin them deep in their own end, you do get it, you drastically increase your chances of a TD. Of course, I also wouldn't have called a play designed to to be short of the 1st down, but maybe that was Lamb's fault, for rounding it off short of the sticks.

Being overly conservative is also a big part of what got McCarthy fired in GB, so it was probably not even an option for him.

It's not a trend, it's smart.  Teams don't do it enough.

As for this play, I wouldn't have done it but I don't think it was an awful call.  If he reaches and gets the first down, everyone would say how great the call was.  The call shouldn't always just be judged on the result.

1). Not impressed with McCarthy for going for it....kick the FG.....Lamb needed to get deeper on his route as well....rookie mistake.

2) the offensive PI call should've been a no call....Ramsey is a whiny, squwaker

3) the rams are over their SB hangover, and look like a much better team than last season

I don't disagree with any of this.  The rams O line owned the trenches.  Losing Vander Each really sucks.  I'd love to see some more innovative play calling like the Saints do......vanilla offense.

i don't have the stats so i can't say for certain, but it seems like teams are going for 4th and x more often than ever now. it's been trending topic for a few seasons  that teams don't do it enough, which leads to over correction and teams doing it where they don't need to, like tonight imo.

Yes teams probably are doing it more than ever.  I don't think there's over correction, I think teams still don't do it enough.  Had they hit the FG, Rams might have had a great return and went down and scored a TD.  There's no way to know, it's far too easy to just sit and say "oh it was a bad call" when it didn't work.  This is a game of inches and bounces, I hate when people blast decisions when a bounce or inch goes the wrong way.

for the record i'm fine with teams going for it on 4th, and i thought teams should be doing it more a few seasons ago when teams weren't for the most part. even now when teams do it more than ever, i'm all for it.

rams weren't exactly lighting it up, and of course they would have played it different had dallas tied it up, but i just didn't agree with it in tonight's game.

The other thing I absolutely hate is how the Cowboys are overrated every season...i said it my buddy pregame....they make great paper champions.

And as much as I like Dak, I think he's somewhat inconsistent.  I fully believe that Romo in his prime, smokes the rams with this supporting cast, tonight.

Seriously - why didn’t they kick the FG?
The whole sequence makes no sense...3rd and 6 go up the middle..4th and 3, throw a one yard drag pattern....

I do think that if the kick the FG, the Rams probably answer with a score, but you have to trust your D and then trust your O to answer

For Cowboys fans, welcome to life with McCarthy as head coach.  Individual decisions might make sense, but there is no broader philosophy or set of actions that tie together.  He’s one of the dumbest coaches when it comes to in-game, in-the-moment decision making.

McCarthy coaches like he always has - like Jason Garrett.

One example...it's fourth and 20 and the last play of the game, Mike, nobody's falling for a play action.

I thought Prescott looked lost and quite awful last night.

This.  And there’s no way around it, going for it on 4th and short in general is the right statistical play.  Going for it on 4th and 3 at the 11 yard line down 3 is drastically over thinking it at best, gross incompetence at worst.
