I haven't read all of the Cowher threads word for word, but one thing I know I see is the Browns keep coming up as a possible destination. What's the connection? Not a surprise but still sad. Thanks for a great run, Bill.I only ask 2 things:1) Talk to the Dolphins and see if they'll cough up the dough to woo you out of retirement so at least the Steelers can get some draft picks when you leave.2) If you don't do #1 please don't come back next season as head coach of the Browns.

Because we all know that there aren't any other blue collar towns out there.I can't imagine Cowher going anywhere else. Pittsburgh is a blue collar town and it matches Cowher's approach. Thanks Coach for a great run. Enjoy your retirement.
There has been talk that the owner of the Browns has a hardon for Mr. Bill. Whether or not it is true I don't know.Cowher did play and coach for Cleveland for a few years so there is a connection on his part but my gut tells me he probably would not go to Cleveland in respect for the Rooney's. Then again, money talks.I haven't read all of the Cowher threads word for word, but one thing I know I see is the Browns keep coming up as a possible destination. What's the connection? Not a surprise but still sad. In the college ranks. Close to home. With all the power. He'll be back at some point - I smell a #### Vermiel kind of retirement.Way too intense to stay retired.
Fixed. Thanks for the good years Bill.
Then you have no clue what it is like being a Steeler fan.Fixed.Thanks for the good years Bill.![]()
I can't see Cowher coaching in college. But whatever he decides, thanks for a lot of great football over the past 15 years. Cowher will always be remembered as a great Steeler coach. In the college ranks. Close to home. Definitely thought of this as soon as I heard the news! Thanks for the run BillEA takes down another one
I say Falcons. One more underachieving year for John Fox and crew in 2007 =Bill Cowher - HC of the 2008 Carolina PanthersThanks for XL Cowher!
I thought about that last night. Certainly would be interesting. Here's to seeing him in Dallas in 2008. (How's that for coming out of left field?)
Dude.......don't change your avatar.Unless he goes to the StainsI........................ I............... uh.... I.........................
His daughter is 15 and is not going to transfer to another school. The Cowhers have already said that they are going to retire in their new home in NC. I think it is very unlikely they will move again. If BC coaches again I think they will maintain their residency in NC.An interesting part of this is that his wife and daughter moved to Carolina last year. How old is his daughter? If she is a teenager, it is doubtful he would want to move while she is still in high school. That might factor in to his decision next year.
Grimm seems to be the motivator type. I think he's the pick. Whis to ATL. GB Bill.Good Luck Bill and thanks. So Grimm or Wisenhunt - I like them both but think Grimm would be the better candidate. But don't want to lose KW either.
Can't see him working with Jerry Jones.Baltimore homer here. The NFL is better with Cowher in it than not. Here's to seeing him in Dallas in 2008. (How's that for coming out of left field?)
I can't see that happening for long. A year or two, tops.Ghost Rider said:What a bummer. I am not even a Steelers fan, but this is a huge loss for the NFL if he stays retired.
Agreed. If he's going to walk anyway, I'd rather see him take the Miami job and get massive compensation. I don't think he will though - for all the speculation about him wanting more $$, I think it's more about kicking back for a year or two and spending time with his family. The way I see it, he probably figures - if I sign another 5 year deal with the Steelers at their max offer of $6.25 million or take a year off to be with my family and then sign somewhere else in '08 at 7-8 million a year (speculation is that he would easily command that on the open market) then the money shakes itself out and the year off is basically "free."So, in short, it's a little bit about money, but not really. I would, however, be much happier to be proven wrong, have him take another job and show that it was ALL about money, and watch the Steelers rake in 4 first-day draft picks in exchange.I can't see that happening for long. Yes, that's how I understand it.they only get draft picks if he coaches somewhere next year correct?
