Maybe I'm wrong about this, but didn't he leave coaching to spend more time with his family? It just struck me as odd that he's working for CBS on Thanksgiving in studio.

Working for CBS takes up a lot less time than coaching an NFL team. It's not like he said that he was leaving to spend time with his family "on Thanksgiving."

He has probably been reminded why being home with family aint all it's cracked up to be. Wife's drivin him nuts, the kids are going crazy - time to take over for the Ravens and win some more SB rings.

Unless the Ravens reloacted to NC, and picked up something remotely resembling a quarterback along the interstate during the trip, then I think you can forget that pipe dream.

Cowher's going to be the Panthers coach sooner or later.

Underperforming team tht has a great nucleus, not a rebuilding process, and plays the 3-4 that he loves.

Cowher is the next coach of ..........

San Diego Chargers

Cowher wants final say on draft day which he could never get in Pittsburgh. When he won the power struggle with Donohue he got more but not total say in the draft. When he pushed hard for a player the results have been wrong more often than not. Many head coaches think they knew more about players than the full time scouts but many teams believe a strong player personnel department is the better evaluator of talent. I don't see the Giants, Ravens, Redskins, or Chargers giving a coach that type of control. And of course he wants a 8M+ a year.

The Rams would be a good fit with power running back Steven Jackson. He also has ties with d-coord Haslett. Perfect match. A healthy Rams could contend in the NFC with a good HC

With family being important to Cowher bodes well for the Giants. Two of his daughters, a senior and sophmore play basketball for Princeton. It isn't a big stretch that his youngest daughter will be at Princeton the fall of 2009. Btw the youngest one plays B-ball too.

The list of oldest head coaches is interesting.

Joe Gibbs - Redskins - 67

Tom Coughlin - Giants - 61

Romeo Crennel - Browns - 60

Wade Phillips - Cowboys - 60

I wouldn't be surprised if all 4 might retire soon. If Cowher is sitting out at least another year, maybe he has a new job lined up and part of the agreement is to wait until the current guy to retire.

I think the strain of making the playoffs and having to prepare for extra games could wear some of these guys down faster. All 4 of these might make the playoffs.

ahhhh dude - Crennel is still a sophmore-like HC and Phillips is in his 1st year as HC in Big-D. Neither will retire anytime soon. Really, where do you people get these ideas?

My money is still on Washington.
:coffee: Cowher is going to sit out next year as well. Gibbs will be gone after next year. Dan Snyder will pick up the phone and call Bill Cowher.
I find it interesting that the Chargers are ruled out because of how they treated Marty. Well, what about how Dan Snyder treated Marty?
Older news, plus a lot of people have been saying that Snyder has grown up a bit in the Gibbs era. IMO Cowher in Washington, with minimal interferance from Snyder would be very nice.
