That is a fairly mild rate of episodes, thus I suppose the reason for the choice. I have no idea about the insurance. Good luck.So just got diagnosed with apnea. I had 7.4 episodes or whatever they call it.
Going to read thread. I have a choice to try some dental thing or a CPAP machine...
How is insurance with either? Is the dental thing covered under medical?
Yeah, 7 is nothing. I was told anything over 30 is considered extreme, and I averaged between 90-130 during my sleep study.Yeah she said 5-15 is mild. But tbh I'll try almost anything to get a good night sleep
If it's leaking air, I'd say it more likely loose, right? Would def mention it though to the place you got your equipment from. You mentioned this is pretty much your first week? So you'll likely be getting a call from them in a few days just to see how things are going. Mention it, it could just be the particular mask how it sits, in which case they'll get you in there and you can swap it out for something more comfortable.3 nights in. 1st time i did a full night. But my nose bridge is killing me. Full face mask. Idk if it’s too tight bc I can feel air escaping at times.
What do I do about nose bride issues
I just switched to a full facemask 2 days ago. For me so much better than the nose only.3 nights in. 1st time i did a full night. But my nose bridge is killing me. Full face mask. Idk if it’s too tight bc I can feel air escaping at times.

I don't get what there is to deal with GB? I couldn't use one without it.My apologies for not being more clear. I use no products whatsoever, just dry air. As a result, my nose has a dried, rubbery layer of snot in it every morning. Still better than dealing with the humidifier, imo.
I am battling this as well. My old mask wasn't much of an issue, but my new one seems to be a lot worse on my hair right across the top/back. Even when I think I get it tame after a shower, it pops back up within the hour.I just have a permanent red mark on the bridge of my nose. Doesn’t hurt or anything. The Vaseline is a good trick.
I’d have suggested nose only at first (if you don’t breathe thru mouth at night) but I’ve never used the full mask so I guess I don’t have a comparison there. I went from the nasal plugs to the nasal mask.
My main issue is the destruction the strap does to the hair on the top/back of my head. Bed head + strap head is the worst. Showering doesn’t even help sometimes. I’ve started to contemplate shaving it.
Lol, I think the highest I've ever seen in my experiences so far was 119...so, congrats I guess?I had 120/hr

I was classified as very severeWow. Mine are per hour but I know mild still.

I’ve been wearing a baseball cap to work a couple times a week for the last year. A few others are hat guys at work, so I don’t totally stick out like a sore thumb, but still, it’s not like I’m 22 years old.I am battling this as well. Apnea is stopping breathing while you are sleeping, so sure, it could be mild. Can you have apnea if you're not drowsy/tired/etc? I snore and have had instances while falling asleep where it feels like I forget to breath and jolt awake (sometimes with anxiety), but once I drop off I sleep pretty well and don't feel sleepy during the day.
I don’t know the answer here, but it wouldn’t hurt to do the test. See if your doc can set up the take home test, it’s real easy and you don’t have to go sleep anywhere feeling weird. Can you have apnea if you're not drowsy/tired/etc? I snore and have had instances while falling asleep where it feels like I forget to breath and jolt awake (sometimes with anxiety), but once I drop off I sleep pretty well and don't feel sleepy during the day.
Mention it to your doc. There's a thing called sleep-onset apnea. Sounds like it could be what you're experiencing. Can you have apnea if you're not drowsy/tired/etc? I snore and have had instances while falling asleep where it feels like I forget to breath and jolt awake (sometimes with anxiety), but once I drop off I sleep pretty well and don't feel sleepy during the day.
I'd be more worried about microorganisms. Read a story about someone dying from a brain eating bacteria and never used tap water again. So, using tap water is not good? Been using that for 3 years.
You are using the same mask as me. I find that if I am sick, the mask/CPAP helps me to breathe more easily and the added humidity keeps me more comfortable than without it. I started using this mask with my new machine a few months ago, but I have been using a CPAP for several years now and had a full face mask before this one. I do not care for this mask compared to the old one I had. I agree that it is bulkier. My old used to sit closer to the tip of my nose. This one goes all the way up the bridge and contacts my forehead between the eyes. It leaves red marks on both sides of my nose, whereas the last mask I had did not. But, truth be told, I seem to get a better seal with this mask than my old one. This is what I had with my old machineI got sick last week and could barely breathe normally, so wearing a mask was a no-go. So I missed a few days, since then i cant get more than 4 hours a night before i kick it off.
I'm using the ResMed AirFit 20 full face
I've got the same mask. Probably took me about a month to really get used to it. I mostly sleep on my side. I know they sell CPAP pillows -- I've thought about it, but I haven't found that necessary just yet.so i'm about a month into this thing and I gotta say, not loving it at all. I do feel better and understand the benefits, I know its not going anywhere, but man, it has not been a fun learning curve.

I'm using the ResMed AirFit 20 full face and it feels so huge and bulky, plus i feel very claustrophobic in it (I have claustrophobia issues as it is)...i can see it over my nose, the headgear is annoying and I just know it there. I'm trying to get used to sleeping in my back b/c any other position just feels horrible. Does anyone use a special pillow or anything to help with this?
I'm going to call my company and see if I can switch masks. I saw a video on the ResMed F30 and it looks somewhat more comfortable b/c it goes under the nose.
I know...yak yak ##### #####. I get that this thing will help me in the long run but so far its fulfilled all my already less than excited expectations on using it.
Also, this dude has a pretty good cpap youtube channel and is pretty funny.
I was looking at this on Amazon a week or so ago, but I did not pull the trigger. (ETA: The reviews said the pillow was hard, and I prefer a softer pillow, which is one of the reasons that I did not buy.)omg - they make pillows?
May have to get one. Its been a hard transition being a stomach sleeper

just bought that one...might help. I don't mind a firm pillow if it will help. I've been rolling up my standard pillow to put behind my head trying to sleep on my back but get some head height to keep the mask down.I was looking at this on Amazon a week or so ago, but I did not pull the trigger. Neither of those looks very comfortable. I am not sure I see the need for a specialized pillow, but if it works for you, go for it.leaning towards this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IJ87MZK/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1
Got good reviews on another site
OMG what has become of me
for me I have always been a stomach sleeper with my head turned and with the CPAP on I can't do it without it getting moved around and all that stuff and I'm having a tough time sleeping on my side or back so in theory this should allow me to lay on my stomach without the mask it moved all over the placeNeither of those looks very comfortable. I am not sure I see the need for a specialized pillow, but if it works for you, go for it.
I’m giving anything a try right now. I’m folding up my regular pillow just to try and elevate my head so that the mask doesn’t (feel like) it’s falling back into my face. I’m not a back sleeper but I’m trying bc if the mask. If it can help get me on my side then I’ll give it a shot.Neither of those looks very comfortable. If you're interested in under the nose full face masks, take a look into the Amara Dreamwear. From my experiences, it's the go-to under nose FFM currently on the market.I'm going to call my company and see if I can switch masks. I'm being fitted for the ResMed one Thursday, hope it works out. I'll keep this in mind, but as long as they are paying, I need to stick with ResMed for now.If you're interested in under the nose full face masks, take a look into the Amara Dreamwear. The dud modeling it in the picture doesn't look too comfortable. Anyway, I need a full mask. I breathe out of my mouth too much at night.https://www.thecpapshop.com/respironics-dreamwear-nasal-cpap-mask-1
This mask has been great. Very comfortable.
I fall asleep just fine without the maskTry melatonin.
Got that one the other day and I have to say, it has really changed the whole experience.I was looking at this on Amazon a week or so ago, but I did not pull the trigger. (ETA: The reviews said the pillow was hard, and I prefer a softer pillow, which is one of the reasons that I did not buy.)
My wife often puts on a sleep story on the Calm app before going to sleep (she plays on speaker, so I hear it too). That is another thing that you could look into if want something to not quite think too deeply about. It's stuff that part interesting but part boring (e.g., someone reading Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations, John Muir, or an audio version of Bob Ross's The Art of Painting). Downside is that it costs money, but she finds it worth it.Got that one the other day and I have to say, it has really changed the whole experience.
As a typical side and belly sleeper, I was hating having to fall asleep on my back with the mask. This one is kinda stiff, but my normal pillows were just too soft for me to sleep on my side w/o affecting the mask. took me a night or 2 but I got used to the stiffness and with the cut outs, sleeping on my side is soo much better. It keeps the mask elevated enough and there is a little curve in the pillow that my head settles into nicely.
I've also started listening to podcasts with an earbud vs trying to watch TV (the mask was so big, I found myself staring at it over the bridge of my nose while trying to watch TV and it was causing me to 'think about it'). Te podcasts keep my mind just active enough to not think about the mask but not enough to keep me awake.
I wouldn't say my throat gets irritated, but I do get so uncomfortably dried out in the throat and mouth that I wake up (yes, I do use a humidifier cranked up to the highest setting). I have never experienced bloating.Reluctantly joined the CPAP club a couple weeks ago. AHI number was 71, so severe sleep apnea. Was hard to get started for the first week but have worn it for 5-6 hours 8 days straight (full mask).
I get an irritated throat and occasional bloating from it. Does that go away over time? Don't think I could do a nasal only mask as I breathe through my mouth too much.
Edit: 12 team PPR start 1qb, 2rb....errr....Airsense 10 APAP 7-15 range with 4 for ramp. Distilled water. Clean tank and mask daily as instructed. Weekly clean hose and headgear and clean tank with white vinegar and water for 30 minutes as instructed. Fisher & Paykel Simplus full mask.
The mask is ok. It has sort of a flexible section across the bridge of the nose which makes it a little more comfortable. It will leak when you lay on your side and push it much with the pillow. I've noticed some nights with hardly any leakage and others with alot. That's in the app but I don't notice it too much myself.I wouldn't say my throat gets irritated, but I do get so uncomfortably dried out in the throat and mouth that I wake up (yes, I do use a humidifier cranked up to the highest setting). How do you like the Fisher & Paykel mask? This may be tough to answer being so new to it. I have been searching for a new mask.
