I've tried 5-6 different ones. Felt like the 1st one I got worked ok, but the 2nd morning I noticed that the color transferred to my pillowcase. The rest were useless and uncomfortable. Looking for alternatives.Yup. Even when I'm stuffed up the thing works. However I do wear one of these to keep my mouth closed.

does your machine have a ramp-up mode?Update: I guess I’ve had the machine a little over a week now. I didn’t like the mask at all and switched out for the nose contraption. Did pretty good with it the first couple of nights although last night I took it off at some point, I don’t even remember doing it.
One thing I don’t like is when I am trying to fall asleep with it on, it’s a very weird feeling of trying to breathe. I don’t feel like I can take a full breath with it and I get a little panicky at times.
If I can fall asleep quickly I am ok and I sleep well. Because I am sleeping better now and not as tired in the evenings I don’t fall asleep as fast as I was which means I’m laying there awake with the mask longer and I get that panicked feeling. I’m hoping I’ll eventually get used to it all but right now I’m not liking it very much.
I’ve never had surgery so I’ve never had a breathing tube down my throat but my wife has and she said that is how you feel with the tube in your throat (obviously more extreme). The machine is giving you the air you need but you want to breathe yourself and you can’t. I feel that way with this machine and will eventually pull it off my nose and take a deep breath and then put it back on and if I don’t fall asleep soon, I do it again and again.
After posting my response I did some research on the google machine and I learned about ramping. I contacted my cpap lady and she adjusted it remotely.does your machine have a ramp-up mode?
min is set for very little assistance for the first 1/2 hour of so and then it kicks on after that. So it lets me breathe normally until I fall asleep before taking over.
Seems like washing it helps tighten it up but yeah I have the same issueA bit annoyed at my DME, my nose pillow thing gets replaced often enough, but, the cloth strap could use a refill a bit more frequently than they've been doing it. And of course to get it out of pocket, it's $25 for a shoelace.
Definitely helped last night!does your machine have a ramp-up mode?

FYI, the google is your friend here. You can find the codes and program it yourself. After posting my response I did some research on the google machine and I learned about ramping. I contacted my cpap lady and she adjusted it remotely.
Thanks!
Holy crap, this never dawned on me to do..Oh yeah, I do this all the time. Just hit the On-Off real quick and it'll start ramping from zero, allowing you to go back to sleep easier.
I use an app called Calm that has (it sounds silly) bedtime stories with narrators who talk in really...slow....calming...restful voices that put me out in minutes. I have small, cheap wireless ear buds, that I pop one in and fire up the app to fall asleep.I did convert to the nose contraption rather than the whole mask and like it much better. The ramp mode has been a huge game changer.
My latest issue is waking up extra early, feeling rested and like I have slept great but not being able to fall back asleep with the nose mask on. I will lay there for 15 minutes and eventually take off the mask and eventually fall asleep.
I still feel more rested than I had been but I would love to sleep a full 7-8 hours with the cpap rather than 3-4 hours. Anyone else struggle with this initially but it got better?
I started with the nasal pillows and got tired of them. They also irritated slightly inside my nose at times. Currently using the N20 which is like the F20 just doesn’t cover my mouth. No complaints. Was diagnosed with sleep apnea and just given a machine today , Resmed AS10. Anyways they left 2 masks , airfit P10 and F20. Anyone use these masks ?Dont know which one to try
AirTouch F20 or AirFit F20?? I did not like the AirTouch F20...was soft and faily comfortable, but leaked like crazy for me. It may be because I have a goatee. Air Fit F20 worked well for me in terms of leaks but left some significant red marks across my nose. Was diagnosed with sleep apnea and just given a machine today , Resmed AS10. cograts...I gotta use that a motivation to drop a bunch of weight myself. If anyone wants to buy a CPAP, let me know, I got one that I don't use anymore as I lost 70 pounds and counting.
DO IT!cograts...I gotta use that a motivation to drop a bunch of weight myself.
weird - i was just coming to post - all of a sudden I'm having trouble sleeping with my cpap. I just dont fall asleep with it on or wake up at night with it... my issue is I can't stop sleeping on my stomach....So I got to where I could no longer wear a cpap. Worked a little but for a while and then I just couldn't wear it anymore.
Then, I heard an advertisement for a sleep doctor in the Nashville area that specialized in dental inserts and thought what the hell. Had an appointment last week and did a home sleep study. I think it was similar to the one I had a few years ago. Mild. 17 episodes an hour. A few times where I quit breathing for 10 seconds at a time. O2 got down to 59% a few times. Results were sent off and now waiting on further insurance approval to get the insert. I'll keep you posted. I didn't even know this was an option.
I didn't even know it was a legitimate option. Just kept hearing it advertised on the radio. The guy in seeing is a dentist. Gonna run me about 1500 after insurance.weird - i was just coming to post - all of a sudden I'm having trouble sleeping with my cpap. I was offered the dental thing but it was super expensive for me and I read it can mess up your jaw.... but might have to revisit
yep thats about what mine was going to be although its about equal to cpap - i might have to consider switching. I have a sleep appointment in mayI didn't even know it was a legitimate option. I think it depends on the pressure prescribed, where lower pressure will allow the nose apparatus.Just starting down this path. Got my sleep study results and I apparently have severe sleep apnea, averaging 43 episodes or whatever they're called per hour. I've been referred to get a CPAP, so now I'm just waiting until I get called for a fitting. I'm crossing my fingers that can use one of the less intrusive ones that only go over your nose.
Same here...actually first night with the CPAP last night...and it sucked.Just starting down this path. make sure you have your machine set to 'ramp up'Same here...actually first night with the CPAP last night...and it sucked.
I couldn't use the nose pillow thing so I have one that is just over the nose, but still a pretty hefty strapping system. My issue was the pressure on exhale...am adjusting some settings for tonight. May have to go to the full mouth/nose mask as I have recurring sinus issues...but they wanted to see on this mask first.
Yeah...that is the setting I have changed now. Im at a pretty low starting setting so the supplier thought I may be ok without it...but after last night...I am setting it to give me a half hour first.make sure you have your machine set to 'ramp up'
ramp up is a very low-to-no pressure setting for the 1st 1/2 hour or so that gives you time to fall asleep. With the mask on full pressure right away, I found myself focusing on the air blowing in my mouth and not falling asleep. Once you are out, it kicks into high gear.
Also, I got a cheap pair of wireless earbuds and the Calm app on my phone and listen to a soft sleep story...puts me right out. I use to watch TV until I fell asleep but cant anymore with the mask, too cumbersome.
A lot of people think they will hate the full facemask, but end up loving it. Depending on the model you get, some just find it much more spacious to take big gulps of air from. Doesn't feel as restrictive.sho nuff said:Same here...actually first night with the CPAP last night...and it sucked.

Do you know what your flex setting is at? That could also help your exhale issues.sho nuff said:Yeah...that is the setting I have changed now. Im at a pretty low starting setting so the supplier thought I may be ok without it...but after last night...I am setting it to give me a half hour first.
I may try the earbuds at some point too.
Not sure anything about a flex setting on this thing...its not in my actual options and settings I have available to me. Maybe something my doc can adjust? Its a ResMed Airsense10...I don't see that anywhere in the stuff I was told or was given to me.Do you know what your flex setting is at? That could also help your exhale issues.
Yeah a flex is a pretty standard feature these days, so it should be something your doc can adjust. All a flex does (it typically has 3 different levels) is it senses your exhale, and the pressure very gently (much lighter than a full BiPAP) drops the pressure so you can breathe out easier, usually will drop the pressure anywhere from 1-3 cms/h2o briefly. It's subtle, but most people I've worked with find it useful. Not sure anything about a flex setting on this thing...its not in my actual options and settings I have available to me. Going to look into this.Got my dental appliance yesterday and wore last night. My expectations were pretty low about it, but I really had nothing to lose. Holy crap. I'm blown away at how good I feel this morning after barely 6 hours of sleep. I feel like I slept 24 hours. Amazing. This is really one of the best days of my life.
What machine do you have?I was very worried three days ago. I woke up, turned my cpap off, and noticed some odd lights. Didn't think much of it. Then, that night when I went to turn it on, it didn't work. I tried everything. I thought I was going to have to spend hundreds of dollars on a new one, go through the whole insurance thing, possible new sleep study, etc. Then I did a little research. It turns out the power adapter for them can go bad. Who knew? So I bought a new one for 20$ on Amazon, tried it last night, and it worked again. Crisis averted.
So if that ever happens to any of you, think back to this post and try it out.
Do it. Tried mine for 3 years with only slight success. Last night was amazing for mebelljr said:Going to look into this.

You can use regular bottled water for a couple days.New CPAP user question.
If you travel with your CPAP, how to do handle getting distilled water for the humidifier? I imagine they don't carry it at convenience stores?
None at the moment. Supposed to change the resistance bands every 4 days to my tolerance until I feel at my best. How sore is your jaw though?
If you dont mind me askingDo it. Tried mine for 3 years with only slight success. Last night was amazing for me
