I like Crabtree a lot but I think Frank Gore and Vernon Davis are obviously options #1 and #2 in that offense.Under 1,200, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets 1,000 this year.
Crabtree has the potential to unseat Davis in the passing game. He was almost at a 1000 yard pace last year, given his missing the beginning of the season. This year with a TC under his belt, he should be a near lock for 1000. 1200, I dunno... I think it's 50-50 either way.I like Crabtree a lot but I think Frank Gore and Vernon Davis are obviously options #1 and #2 in that offense.Under 1,200, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets 1,000 this year.
Excellent analysis all around. The 1200 Yard plateau is the 'Super Elite Upper Tier' of WR Yardage / Regular Season. Very tough to hit, and were he to do it, it would put him likely well within the Top 12 WR overall statistically...and while he's close, I don't have him quite there.I think he's a lock for 960 (60 YPG on average), and I have him at 1040 ((65 YPG on average). Due to the combo of Gore/VDavis being touch hogs, some potentially erratic QB play, a solid D, and likely a conservative game plan on the part of Coach Singletary, I don't think he can average 75 YPG, which is what it would take to get him to 1200.
Good QB not required. See Calvin Johnson 08.Under. <-- Doesn't buy into the Alex Smith hype at all. At best, he'll be mediocre/league average.
I probably depends how the team does as a whole. If they are going to be as good as some think with that division, they may be running the clock later in the game. If they are in a bunch of shootouts, the sky is the limit...see example from above with Calvin.Good QB not required. See Calvin Johnson 08.Under. <-- Doesn't buy into the Alex Smith hype at all. At best, he'll be mediocre/league average.
True, but San Francisco has a good running offense that it naturally leans on, whereas that Lions team was atrocious in that aspect. Gore will still be the focal point and I don't think Smith is good/consistent enough to produce a 1,200+ yard receiver.Good QB not required. Did you just pull out Germane Crowell? Awesome! I haven't heard that name in a long time... a long time. And can I take 1200 +/- 25? To me, 75 yards per game sounds about right. After Gore, Davis, and Crabtree there isn't a whole lot to be excited about in that offense. Sure Morgan will get some catches and they might try to get Ginn the ball a few times but after the main 3 there's a HUGE dropoff in production.then see Roddy White 07![]()
1200 yards with Harrington/Redman/Leftwich throwing to him.
Other young WRs to put up 1200+ yards with subpar quarterbacks:
Germane Crowell, 1999 (Gus Frerotte & Charlie Batch)
Plaxico Burress, 2002 (Kordell Stewart & Tommy Maddox)
Anquan Boldin, 2003 (Jeff Blake)
Lee Evans, 2006 (J.P. Losman)
90/1125/8He should have a mini breakout year this season and next season he will break out into elite territory, he has all the skills, fantastic hands, a "my ball" mentality and this will be his fourth year playing WR. A true star in the making and someone I would build my franchise and fantasy team around.
Thank you for playing but Crabtree will not average 16 yds/catch.Crabtree is an upper tier talent and despite his mediocre situation I expect to see him take a jump to elite status. 78 Catches 1240 yards with 11 scores.
In a recent podcast interview Mike Singletary was asked "over/under 1200 receiving yards for Michael Crabtree?" He answered, "Yes."
