"Craig Sager was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than three decades and he has been a true inspiration to all of us," Turner president David Levy said in a statement. "There will never be another Craig Sager. His incredible talent, tireless work ethic and commitment to his craft took him all over the world covering sports.

About time.  For as long as he was sick and how much he went through, it is good that he doesn't have to deal with this horrible disease anymore.

RIP Craig.

He was a member at my subdivision's golf club.  I just walked in to meet a buddy for beers and the waitress told me the news.  She's having trouble keeping it together.  Struggling myself.

Having a Bud Light for you Mr. Sager!

I met him at the 1993 NBA draft when Gheorge Mureson was crying and pointing at the crowd after he was selected.  Wasn't a lot of people left and he was just going up and down the stands looking for someone to talk about the draft with, he was a really nice guy.

I usually don't cry for people I haven't met but I'll make a exception in this case. Love the guy. Love his story. If the Spurs were playing I was damn sure to be back in my seat before the commercial ended.

I remember one night TNT had Sager's son fill in for him as a tribute.  Pop normally treats sideline reporters with open hostility, but on that night Pop took the time to tell the Sager family how loved Craig was throughout the Association and everyone is rooting for him to get better.

Good posting.  Very rare for athletes to feel that attached to announcers.  Sort of like Ali/Cosell.  Sager was loved.  RIP Craig

 Absolutely gutted. What a trooper with his longbattle with leukemia. His colourful suits and personality in the NBA is going to be greatly missed. He was a legend in his own right and so so (Sager) strong. So wish he could have made it through the holidays.. RIP Sir.

Wasn't planning on watching NBA on TNT tonight but now I am. I'm sure it will be very touching tribute...

I remember this! Pop hates being interrupted during the games but that gesture had me in tears.

No greater love for him than in Atlanta.  He was on CNN Sports Tonight back when cable TV was in its infancy, part of a crew of then-unknowns like Dan Patrick, Fred Hickman, Gary Miller.

Not sure if he was part of the CNN Sports crew that busted out Strat-O-Matic Baseball during Braves games that weren't competitive.

Bud light was his favorite - people were telling stories at the bar about it.  The waitress I mentioned earlier talked about how it was his favorite and he would give them #### if they were ever out.  I was having it (and 3 more) in his honor.    God this year has sucked.

Yeah that was unfair.  Should've posted a warning with it.

I mean... I shouldn't have been chopping ten pounds of onions while watching that.  Yeah, that's my story.
That's one of the best tributes, if not the best, that I've ever seen for anyone.  You could see the genuine love everyone in the business had for him.

The whole pre-game talk on tnt nba is guys paying tribute to him. Very nice and moving. What makes this thing sadder is he really wanted to live. No one would go through 3 bone marrow transplants and chemo and such if he didn't. You'd go on hospice. But he wanted to live and tried to live a normal life despite it all. He wasn't ready to check out like I see so many stage IV people on the cancer boards praying to God to let them go already. :(

I hope Craig got to watch that before he left. Not many people in the world are universally loved, but Sager broke the mold.
He knew he was universally loved. All the #sagerstrong from around the world, tributes to him to his face, etc. I'm glad. Many don't know just how much they are loved. Award shows can do this. Someone dies and what a great person he/she was. Yeah great. A little late, no?

I can't think of any non-player/coach I associate with the NBA more than Sager...always smiling...RIP.

And the jackets were awesome!!

I hope there's some way to do a Sager tribute at All-Star Weekend, specifically the Saturday night events.  I know Sager was a fixture all season, but having participants come out in Sager-style jackets or something on a night where everyone is celebrating the fun of the game seems like a good spot for it.

They had to have planned those tees a while ago...wonder how they had them ready for tonight?

I had no idea Ernie had cancer before. What an emotional vid. He really wanted to live, and man did he live his life to the fullest despite it all. Game is almost over and am going to sit up and watch the postgame show on TNT. I never tune in to the NBA this early in the season except maybe check standings. Tonight was different. :(

My daughter came in a little while ago and was telling us about one of the Sager kids being called out of class at school yesterday.

Our family didn't know the Sager's but I explained to her and the rest of the kids what a great guy he was and let them see some of the tributes on TV.
