Offense should be good. Some injury risk there, but you have nice bench options for depth. Jones isn't as valuable in an OBP league, but still has some value.

Bad league to punt saves. In fact, closers and relievers would be much more valuable in this league than normal due to the L and K/9 categories. Will need to go Eephus-level saves speculation in this league or try to trade some of your starters for closers. Not sure the experience level of your leaguemates. May be able to pull some good closer trades off with folks that don't realize their value in this league.

What kind of middle relievers are out there on the wire? Adam Ottavino available to hand-cuff with Hawkins? Tony Watson? I'm guessing Boxberger was drafted, but maybe not.

Just added Watson to the empty spot, sounds like you'd drop someone like Jace Peterson for Ottavino as well? Boxberger was drafted.

I actually have three offers on the table (from the same owner) to improve my closer situation but it's for Mesoraco who I really like. In each deal I would give Mesoraco and receive Gattis and RP(s): one is Mujica and Uehara, one K-Rod and one J Benoit. Guessing it isn't worth it? Maybe it would be if I could get some combo of those RPs in one deal?

Also I was wondering if I should see what I can get for Adam (tbh didn't realize his OBP issues so much at the time and would kind of feel foolish shopping him immediately after spending a nice chunk of change on him) and maybe improve at a few spots since I feel fairly deep at OF with Soler and Leonys after the top 3 but then again like I said it's been a while for fantasy baseball and it'd be really hard for me to evaluate his worth without actually seeing how things play out a bit.

Ryu probably on the DL to start and I'll maybe grab another SP.
Pitching should be studly. Offense should be solid. Will need to get some steals somewhere. Maybe Pompey delivers them. I like him and Travis as end-game upside plays.
I've been following Travis for three years, and he's performed at every level. Two things that worry me are the Tigers willingness to deal him so eagerly, and the fact that the scouts just never dug this guys skill set. Scouts obviously miss quite often but even after last year there was almost zero buzz about Travis.

As far as TREteam, I like it. Frazier seems to offer value in just about every draft and although I haven't bought any Soler shares, he seems to be in the shadows of those Cubs prospects but maybe the safest play among them for 2015. Ryu as a 5th starter is pretty sick.

H2H and you must log 35 IP each week from your pitchers or you get all zeros. Daily moves allowed but no daily moves to gain extra games and I guess this is strictly enforced.
What do you mean by this?
If you have one catcher on the roster on Monday morning and he is off on Thursday, you can't pick up another catcher on Wednesday and throw him in. Same goes for starting pitchers, if you start week with 5 in your rotation with 7 total starts, you can't exceed 7 starts.
This is one of the strangest quirks I've seen in a league. Seems like this would be a ##### to enforce.Just a funky league all around with those scoring categories. Especially the pitching. Love your hitters and you have the potential to dominate the hitter cats every week. Solid pitching staff. I could see middle relievers having sneaky value in this format. Especially the low WHIP, high K guys like Giles. My strategy would be to start 6 relievers every day and stream your SPs through the two SP spots on the days they pitch (or is this not allowed?). Is Tony Watson available? Stud MR like him would be a good pick-up to plug in there.
No, I can't do that, no streaming. Basically this is a weekly league with flexibility. So if I have three relievers to start the week for 19 total games from those projected relievers, I can't stream other relievers in a P slot that at the beginning of the week had a starter slotted there. Where this comes in handy is if one of your starters is scratched or hurt, then you can pick up a FA and slit him in where the other guy was supposed to be.So yeah, this is gonna take getting used to. I tried to create a list based on the scoring system, but this is going to take a year in the league to get a feel. League has been around 12 years, so I wasn't sure how the draft would go.

I passed on a starting pitcher on the first turn, and then most starters were going 10+ spots above their adps from there. I love Cole as a borderline one anyway, so getting him in the 7th round was fine. I think guys like Gausman and Petit might be good because you get 5+ innings a week as a reliever, and also some spot starts with good returns.

This is different than any league I've ever played in so I think it's weird but cool.
Ah, gotcha. Definitely weird but kinda cool. Basically a weekly league with daily moves for injury protection.
Ok. I can play anyone on my roster that was on my roster at the beginning of the week, anytime I want. So as long as I get 35 innings, I could throw five or six relievers in there. I have 4 now, I'll find one or two more and go that route.
Nice. I think that's the play here. Ratio boosters, tacking on some innings, helping the Ks, shouldn't hurt the negative cats. Might even vulture a win or two to help there.
Watson is available, and someone just dropped Jake McGee who I can grab when Span goes to the DL.

Who to drop though? Avisail, Cuddyer or Khris Davis? My hitting is ####### ridiculous, man.

I would drop Gausman but I like him as a 2 inning reliever type with spot starts. I like Petit for that role also but I have a lot of shares of him in other leagues so I'm trying to spread the risk. I'd then have 7 relievers and I can play Gausman in the SP slot five or six days a week.

OK, let me have it.

12 team, 5X5 roto, keep 3, have to start two at each IF position, and have to play guys where they are playing IRL. Once a player plays 10 games at another position, you can move him to that position, but must leave him there (eg. I have Hanley, and must play him in the OF. If he makes 10 appearances at SS or 3B I can move him there, but then I can only play him there once I declare that I'm moving him). Also, we only get two pitching moves per week, so with our short bench, teams only carry two closers.

Had an auction last weekend and was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind giving their opinion (after not playing fantasy baseball for probably a decade). I think the team looks a lot better on paper like 3 years ago with some guys that didn't quite reach potential so that could be worrisome. It's an auction keeper so some decisions were made with that in mind. Unfortunately due to perhaps poor planning my last eightish players were all a buck because that's all I could spend and I had no money left to get any closers really. Anyone interested Fire away and feel free to be brutally honest.

Love the pitching but do you really need ten starters? Castillo might get sent down or at least have a limited role to begin the season, so you're probably gonna have to drop Greene or Eovaldi to roster a full time bat. Johnson and Sanchez both made the White Sox and they also haver Bonerface and Beckham who can play 2B. So playing time may be an issue there also. Love the bullpen and the other hitters, a lot of stat compilers in this group.

I'd probably do Mesoraco for Gattis and Benoit. I love Benoit this year and the downgrade from Mesoraco to Gattis isn't that much.

Probably hold on Jones unless you find somebody that will pay full freight on him like he's a top 10 guy which he is in AVG leagues. The fact that you have SLG as a category does help.

I'd probably pick up Ottavino over Watson to try and get the Colorado saves.

Whoa.

I'd try to replace Segura with a multi-positional bro for your IF. Zobrist, if you can swing him? A bench guy like that seems immensely more valuable in a league like this.

I actually like that you have some SP's that you can stash away, it's always nice to have a pipeline of pitchers during the year. The 4 RP thing is a little wacky, but at least you have four guys who will all gets saves, at least initially. If you have more DL spots, you might want to grab Parnell.

If you have more DL spots, you might want to grab Parnell.
thx

Played it pretty safe and was not going too big on spending. Got Miggy and Bumgartner pretty well below value (especially with some of the prices other guys were going nuts)

In the end...I wished I would have bid a bit more on some other pitchers and overpaid. Got down to the end and I was still getting such good value on other guys later in the draft that I had money basically left over (which always sucks).

Overall, looking at the other rosters...there are no stacked teams. Im a bit weak in the infield...but like my OF pretty well.

Hey all anyone have thoughts on an offer Ive received or how I could counter? I had been offered Gattis and one of J Benoit, KRod or Boston situation (both Koji and Mujica) for Mesoraco but he has since pulled Benoit off the table. Ive been offered Gattis(8), Josh Harrison(7), Arrieta(12), KRod(4), Koji(4) and Mujica(undrafted = 10) for Mesoraco (16), Soler(21) and Carrasco(19). I love the idea of getting two closers but with it being a keeper I would hate to move Soler. In parenthesis is what each player was drafted for and in this league the price goes up 5 for the first two years kept then ten each year after that. Keep up to 5 with an auction allowance of 260.

First thought is if there was any chance Id demand Benoit(8) in the deal, but even still I dont know I should even consider moving Soler at this point but interested in hearing thoughts. I know I need to post his roster if anyones going to help with a counter but dont want to crazy clutter the thread so Ill wait to hear anyones thoughts and maybe post that info shortly. Feels like a pass but this is my first time playing fantasy baseball in a while so maybe my values are just off.

I punted average, and it looks like I'll be able to win the other 4 batting categories in a H2H pretty easily. Which means if I win just 2 of the pitching cats, I go 1-0 for the week. The only closer I drafted was Koji. I figured I can snag some new closers on the wire pretty easily.

Do you like Martinez over guys like Graveman, Pomeranz, Shane Greene, etc? I only have Lohse for his first start on Monday, then I plan to drop him and stream (we get 7 transactions per week).

I wouldn't do the second one for sure.
I figured as much but just wanted to make sure. Would either of the offers I have on the table be something youd do? Mesoraco for Gattis/KRod or Gattis/Koji/Mujica? Im trying to get him to throw in, at least in his opinion, his worst closer in Cecil and maybe add something to my side but I dont think its happening so itd be one of those deals or bust. Or I could try to play hardball in the original Mesoraco for Gattis/Benoit is really the only of the three I should do (if I even should) and just tell him take it or leave it at this point.

I input the league settings into a draft calculator. The settings seem to favor Saves & Stolen Bases.

Plan A - draft Clayton Kershaw. Then wing it. I drafted 5th. He went 4th. Plan B - Wing it. Had to go with Plan B.

Yeah that's pretty bad. Mccann at 1b is not good. Harrison at 3b in a ten teamer is dicey. Way too many steals. No power whatsoever. Your pitching outside of max is near ww material. Who was your 1st rd pick?

The problem is you have so much speed it doesnt even help you anymore. Its easier to find sbs on waivers than power. Id try and trade posey and altuve for power bats.

Also confused, but have to assume that it was Scherzer in the first, Altuve in the second, Posey in the third. Then I have no idea who would have been drafted in the 4th.

Once Doolittle comes back you should have plenty of saves. Yeah you are short on Ks but you also have a good group of guys that will get QSs and lowish WHIP. Also looks like you have AVG issues but the power offsets it. If your one of those guys that avoids drafting ratios based on prior performance, then you probably drafted the team you wanted to.

Good thing he pulled that Benoit offer. Would have worked out very poorly!!! Grab Jason Grilli if he's available.

Ha yeah no kidding. Ended up getting KRod in a slightly altered deal plus just happened to grab my iPad within 15ish of the Kimbrel trade and got Grilli and Johnson to be safe.

I'm pretty sure my team is going to be terrible, 5x5, and I was set to autodraft, couldn't make it to the draft. What do you all think?

I definitely drafted too many OFer but I used my last pick on Span to stash him on DL and then I guess grab another starter. I have no feeling at all for this scoring but took Tre's advise and went low WHIP and total base guys. Starters were flying off the board early and often and closers like Jansen were going 50+ places higher than they should have. So I got sniped on Jansen, Doolittle, and a bunch of starters I wanted like Cashner. So I just kept drafting bats.

Thoughts?
How many teams?Rizzo/Altuve in rounds 1 & 2. Probably makes sense but doesn't excite me. Neither does Cole and Cobb as my top 2.

Maybe a tough league.
lol
Cole and Archer have worked out famously. :bowtie:

I did a 12 team 5x5 from the 4 spot this week. I feel like the team is a little stale, but I've been pumped after drafts the past couple of years and didn't make the playoffs.

.500 team so far. I'm terrible at this hobby.

Here's mine - 14 team dynasty 5x5 scoring but it's OBP instead of BA and Saves+Holds

Note: Derek Jeter is a placeholder until Hector Olivera is added to the database. I'm not a huge fan of the team, but thinking it can be competitive in a 14 teamer.http://s16.postimg.org/4tzmjhdxx/image.jpg
I like it maybe down the road, but don't see this team contending in the near future. But so many Cubans!

Punt today for tomorrow, look to deal Koji and LaRoche.
Yeah, this is a quality foundation to build from, but a lot needs to go right to compete this year. If you're able to manufacture enough pitching until your staff is healthy that could change things though. Still, looking for selling opportunities for your vets would be wise. Probably can't do it now, nor would you want to before the season starts, but as contender's go down with injuries, re-eval.
This team now looks like this: http://s23.postimg.org/chhkfenij/image.jpg

I'm in 6th/14 and hanging onto the last WC spot.

JoFer and Matz provided a spark this week. Any thoughts moving forward? Try and move Nola for a SP I can use now?
