Didn't see this thread and just posted a comment in the HOF one. I find myself still thinking about it today. He has always been upfront about football being just a job for him, but was amazing to really see its role in his maturity and transformation.

Felt bad for his mom having to sit there on national TV while he told the story. Any idea who the gir was sitting on the other side of his mom from his wife?

The guy started out playing football so he would have at least 2 less hours at home everyday which was supposedly to reduce his chances of getting killed. His mother made that recommendation. Oh man, you can't beat that story.

Great speech, and well worth the 29 minutes of time it took to listen to it. Thanks for posting about it, or I probably would have missed it. It is amazing how much you can learn in 29 minutes by listening to someone who has truly been refined by the fire of life. This speech has made an immediate impact on me, and I will probably be listening to it a couple of more times.

Congrats to Curtis Martin for his Hall of Fame induction, he truly earned it.
