I just re-watched some of the highlights from the 3rd pre-season game and Painter didn't look that bad.

Is the whole community totally discounting this guy - I understand the colts signed Collins but keeping Painter on the radar - especially with the IR rumours around Peyton seems prudent.

I thought he played fine against Green Bay.

I thought he played well as well. Dom Capers usually keeps a vanilla defense during the pre-season, but Painter looked good regardless. He's worth a late round flyer as he'll have some talent around him. Certainly no worse than some of the lower tiered QBs out there.

I'm rooting for Painter to be good, and we still haven't seen him play in a game the Colts were trying to win, so it's a bit premature to judge the guy.

With those qualifiers out of the way, I can tell you that the Green Bay preseason game has been his best performance by far, and all it can garner is a "not that bad" appraisal. The guy has been awful so far. He has had terrible pocket presence, anticipation, and accuracy. I would be really surprised if he sticks around in the NFL for more than a couple more seasons.
