IGGLES!!!!So what would be the best case scenario for Branch?
<====excited Branch owner
Kinda weird to say it like that - as it was the Patriots themselves who gave him permission to seek a trade, this wouldn't be "news" at all.The real question is whether this is an escalation of the hard ball or they really feel like they can do without. This is obviously not particularly good news for the Pats, unless they're trying to play serious hardball here and are hoping Branch wants to stay bad enough to cave in. The absolute best they could hope for in a trade is a 2nd round pick. I'd say it's more likely they would be offered a 3rd round pick.
The problem here is that I don't think Branch particularly WANTS to stay in N.E. as he feels he will get a lot more money elsewhere.
Please explain the particular points of the Patriot offense that props Branch up. Please definse this mysterious "system".Branch is a product of the system he is in ..... people are not going to give up what the Pats will ask for him.
That's what I am thinking. Pats have to know there's not much of a market for him this year.Who would have the cap room?
He probably means the magic of Tom Brady. Please explain the particular points of the Patriot offense that props Branch up. Please definse this mysterious "system".Branch is a product of the system he is in ..... people are not going to give up what the Pats will ask for him.
Minnesota's payroll seems light and they're in dire need of receiving help. I could be wrong about the payroll, though.Since it says Branch and his agent can negotiate contracts with other teams, I'd assume that if he ends up with another team it will be for around what he was asking the Patriots for. With that in mind, what teams (besides the Pats lol) have that kind of cap space right now? Anyone know?
That's really interesting considering you spent all last summer chiding the Chargers for not giving into Gates salary demands.WOW!
I admire the Pats front office and the fans really benefit from them being hardnose with players and contracts...
I think it's more likely he would play for a team like Min who is not likely to be around in the post season or make it far into the post season so MN could be on the short list.He can come to MN.
That could backfire on the pats. Branch already has the rings & superbowl mvp. He wants top dollar now.
I remember the Eagles catching some crap earlier this pre-season for having a lot of cap space and not really signing anyone. Anyone confirm?I'll say it again: CHIEFSAlthough, let's be clear - I believe that the most likely team Branch plays for this season is the Neeeew England Patriots.gocats said:The Vikings have over $10M in cap room that sounds like his most logical destination
I'm sorry, the Patriots have 3 Super Bowl rings in the last 5 years...how many do the Chargers have? How many times have they been to the playoffs in the last 10 years?BoltBacker said:That's really interesting considering you spent all last summer chiding the Chargers for not giving into Gates salary demands.Ministry of Pain said:WOW!

Eagles!Branch would be dynomite in the WC offense here. Reid, make it happen.PahtyTom said:Since it says Branch and his agent can negotiate contracts with other teams, I'd assume that if he ends up with another team it will be for around what he was asking the Patriots for. Sure, Brady's a big part of Branch's success to date. But what makes Branch successful is his ability to get off the line quickly and make the quick slants. He's got good hands and decent speed, he's not big or strong, but he's quick, able to make adjustments at the line, and makes nice moves after the catch. If he went to another system, I wouldn't expect him to pick it up immediately, but I would expect him to be able to contribute immediately.djcolts said:He probably means the magic of Tom Brady.JetsWillWin said:Please explain the particular points of the Patriot offense that props Branch up. Seriously, they made offers for these guys.gocats said:He will land in...
Minnesota
They're desperatly trying to get a receiver via Oakland (Porter) and NO (Stallworth) but nothing has worked out, they should be able to work out a deal for Branch
The Chiefs would be interesting but I just can't see NE pulling the trigger on any team they deem they might face in the psot season...I would think they ship him off to the NFC.I remember the Eagles catching some crap earlier this pre-season for having a lot of cap space and not really signing anyone. Given the non-negotiation status between Branch & the Pats, I think a lot of people have already done this.Bump down Brady?Bump up Watson?
The Eagles always keep extra cap space open during the season. It allows them to exploit a loophole that allows them to have a higher cap the following season. I don't know if that loophole was closed recently, but it would surprise me to see them change gears to make another late season trade for a receiver who's holding out and demanding a trade, considering how well that worked out last time.here are the teams' cap situations for 06. Eagles have the most cap room of anyone, and could be argued as having the greatest need as well.

I think the Eagles. Right conference, right cap situation, right QB.

Yeah, that's my point slick. And being financially irresponsible will get them closer to a SuperBowl how again? So you are saying that 3 time Super Bowl champions play hardball with their players than other teams shouldn't do the same thing?I'm sorry, the Patriots have 3 Super Bowl rings in the last 5 years...how many do the Chargers have? How many times have they been to the playoffs in the last 10 years?BoltBacker said:That's really interesting considering you spent all last summer chiding the Chargers for not giving into Gates salary demands.Ministry of Pain said:WOW!

Nah, I don't think Brown can hang with the 1/2 CB's. He'll be a nice safety blanket on 3rd down and situations like that, but his absolute ceiling is probably 30 catches at the MOST. Chad Jackson, Reche Caldwell are probably 1/2, and rememer the name.......................wow...forgot his name for a second......BAM CHILDRESS.Completely random thought, probably only for deep leagues... but does Troy Brown step into a starting role in the offense if Branch does indeed go elsewhere? Brady probably feels very comfortable with the old vet so I could see him being a value play in deep deep leagues if he winds up starting...
That name is starting to look like a real nice WW pick up right about now or a late round WR in redrafts this weekend...people will laugh but after Caldwell who has looked very average...and the TE who will only catch X amount of balls...he is like the next WR that has experience...Chad jackson is not only a rookie but is hurt....Troy Brown coul be a sleeper for 800 yds and 4-5TD by way of attrition there.Completely random thought, probably only for deep leagues... but does Troy Brown step into a starting role in the offense if Branch does indeed go elsewhere? let the TROY BROWN Revival Begin!**edit**The fantasy owners that will really benefit from Branch being traded are the Ben Watson owners. Watson will vault into the top 5 at the TE position. Classic Heap, Gonzo, Gates situation......when the TE is the best receiving option...they will get the WR targets.
I would love this.Ministry of Pain said:WOW!
What would Branch be like in Dallas?
It's starting to look like they might need a veteran receiver.I would love this.Ministry of Pain said:WOW!
