has anyone heard if there will be a subsriber contest this year? I know they mentioned low participation last year. and no comments on a date for start of event this year. I lvoe thsi game, i hope it doesnt go away

I'd play this contest even if there weren't any prizes. It's probably my favorite fantasy contest each season.

I hit the money in Joe's side pot 2 years ago and just rolled the money into the winner's food bank donation. So, I agree, and if you don't need it might as well help some folks out. This is just for fun. I guess if I landed in the big money I'd keep some but I'd do some good with plenty of it also.

This is my favorite fantasy football contest. I’ve played for years. I won $600 after having cashed in the money one year. It was 2022 or 2023.

My favorite NCAA tournament involves picking just five teams a 1-4, a 5–8, a 9–12, and a 13–16, all teams need to be from different regions. You’re fifth team is a wildcard and can be from anywhere.

But as a Pirates fan, my absolute favorite sports contest is:

The "Will They Trade the One Guy You Like?" Pirates Contest

This contest is a long game, much like the Pirates' rebuild. All participants have to do is predict which player will be the fan-favorite trade chip by the trade deadline.

* How it works: Before the season starts, everyone picks one player on the current roster who they believe will be playing for a different team by the end of the year. It has to be a player who is beloved, talented, and most importantly, affordable, making them a prime candidate to be dealt for "future assets."

* Scoring: You get a point if your chosen player is traded at any point during the season. You get a bonus point if the return for that player is a handful of prospects you've never heard of. You get a second bonus point if one of those prospects is a "3B/OF type" who is "still a few years away."

* The winner: The person with the most points at the end of the season wins. The prize? A single ticket to a mid-week game in September against the Cubs, a free hot dog, and the official title of "Ultimate Pirates Fan of Misery”.

As a lfelong Pirate fan (who saw Stargell hit one over the roof at Forbes) I assume 2nd prize is 2 tickets to that same game.
