There is another thread about this but the forecast you have above hasn't changed. I can tell you that the wind is blowing like crazy right now here is Pitt.

The winds are being caused by the differences in pressure between the low that's moving out and the frigid high that's coming in.

I think winds will have died down considerably by 4 p.m. in Pittsburgh, but could be a factor in Baltimore for the Redskins-Ravens game.

so is the field gonna be a sloppy piece of crap, or what? i think thats the biggest factor. cause that game last yr was a joke.

I think the wind could play a major part. Gusting and swirling winds hamper the passing game, the one thing Dallas may need the most if they are to win. Barber's out so it's on Romo's shoulders. I live 3 hrs. south of Pitts. and the wind is gusting pretty strong here right now. If that contiues during the game you probably won't see any long bombs, they'll have to dink and dunk down the field to try and beat Pittsburgh. The wind is just another variable that gives the edge to the Steelers. Dallas has a monumental task in front of them today. We'll see if they got the right stuff.

yea. i think the weather definately favors da Steelers, espcecially with MB3 out. and its not like Dallas' running attack has been real effective lately anyway. Romo is gonna have to run around and make things happen. this game could come down to a couple big plays. the thing Dallas has in their favor, is they have more play makers. just get the ball in the hands of TO. he's a monster after the catch. that is, if he catches it.

Shouldn't this give a boost to Parker? The rankings have him way down this week. If the Steelers are smart, I would expect them feed him all day long. But at the same time, if there's no threat of a passing game, the Cowboys will stack the box.

In theory yes but the Cowboys have one of the better run defenses in the league. This is a game that should feature plenty of passing since both teams are good (the Steelers are great) at stopping the run. But the weather will likely impact the passing game. Honestly, it's impossible to figure out what's going to happen in this game and who might do well. The safe play might be to sit all of the Cowboys and Steelers if the winds are gusting near 30 mph as crazy as that sounds. If neither team can run and the wind prevents both teams from passing effectively what's left?

PIT is a better dink and dunk passing team, and I agree that both teams will take away the run. I think we are looking at 17-13 game here in favor of the Steelers. Sitting all players could be the right play.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the weather will affect the passing game that much.

Yeah, you're not going to see a 60 yard bomb to TO, but I see this as a game where

he takes a couple short slant passes to the house. The receivers have an advantage in

poor conditions.

Wind chill temperatures for the Cowboys vs. Steelers game in Pittsburgh are expected to be in the single digits at kickoff.

The snow should hold off until after the game, but expect both rushing attacks to be featured prominently. Tony Romo has not played well in cold weather and is not an attractive option this week. (Rotoworld)

I posted this in the other thread last night -

Romo's stats in the wind and cold

Wind - 2 gms, 69.6 QB rating, 53/82 64.6 pct, 629 yds, 314 ypg, 3 tds, 6 ints

Cold - It says only 1 gm. Is that true? 7/16 86 yds 0 tds, 1 int, qb rating 34.9

Non-weather related info here but if you're on the fence with Roethlisberger, his prospects may be better today. ESPN's Ed Werder said DeMarcus Ware might not play. They'll test him out before the game but if Ware doesn't play, that helps the Steelers' passing game since it will keep some of the heat off Roethlisberger.

Still not sure Big Ben is a very good start given the wind but this would help a lot.

I think Cold is definitely true (just 1 game, but I hate when media outlets say this stuff and then won't tell you the definition of "Cold"... under 40 degrees? under 30 degrees?). This is only his 3rd season starting. His first season in 2006 saw no late season games in the cold. That 1 game in question looks to be Week 17 of 2007 at Washington in a meaningless game for DAL as it rested anyone who was QUES at worst and already had a 1st round bye wrapped up coming into the game. Brad Johnson was 7/11 for 79 yds in this game, so it looks Romo probably only played a half as well. It should be noted that the Gamebook for this game lists the temperature at 39 degrees.I think Romo's history is irrelevant anyway. He faces the best defense in the league today on the road. I don't see how his numbers will be good.

Romo grew up in Wisconsin. I have a feeling he dealt with a little cold at some point in his football career.

ugh....combine Steeler defense with the weather and Barber's injury and I think every Cowboy should be downgraded this week.

The two important factors in my book are the wind and if the snow is sticking on the field. Cold, rain, and flurries do not affect the game that much as we have seen in recent weeks. Wind, at a moderate level, doesn't even affect the passing game that much either. I would say if it is steady at 15-20mph with stronger gusts, then it will affect the long passing game.

How is the field? I know new sod just went in, but it hasn't been too wet there, has it? I don't see the footing being bad - which would help T.O. & Ward make some bigger plays. This is more about the wind/cold which is more detrimental to throwing and catching than to coverage.

If the Dallas O-line can protect Romo then T.O and Roy Will really should be able to do some damage. Steelers corners really aren't that great and can be exposed if the pass rush doesn't help them out.

This thread is about weather. And don't worry. The pass rush will get to Romo.

Just saw a live TV report and it did not look very windy (hair not moving) on the field. It looked cloudy, but no snow was falling. If this sticks, no pun intended, then Romo and Big Ben get an upgrade.

That info came from split stats on Romo's player page in yahoo. The definition of cold is 21-40 degrees. I believe they also list frigid cold weather if it ever applied to the player. I believe that was less than 20 or something like that.

I saw a report and whoever the girl was talking, her hair was blowing.

Ok, getting close to gametime. Not making this into a WDIS, but who is rolling with Dal/Pit players today.

I've got Big Ben in one league, and am still torn between him and Schaub.

Going with Romo and Holmes. It's more a question of my other players, but I'm not too scared of the weather.

I've just put all my Cowboy and Steeler players on my bench based on this weather. Some of them might have some big games, but it seems less likely than with some slightly lesser players in domes and warm weather today.

Single digit windchills and gusty winds all day... QBs might be ok, but how about their receivers?

I couldn't be more 50/50 on starting TO and its killing me. Jimmy Johnson just said he thinks Dallas shouldn't even try to run. Ungh...

Are we upgrading our PIT/DAL players? Weather usually gets more windy in the afternoon. What are sharks doing with Romo and Big Ben?
