Dallas Clark (1 Viewer)

Preseason word was that, in reviewing 2005 tape, the Colts' OC found that they did not target Clark enough and was going to make it a priority to get him more involved. In checking back at some stats, he was targeted 52 times last yr (3.25 per game). To date, this year, he has gotten 20 targets over 5 games (4 per game).

With him on bye, trying to decide whether to cut him loose outright. Doesn't appear that, even with the rushing game taking a hit from last year, that the OC/Peyton are moving the ball to him any more significantly (having Utecht and Fletcher vulturing doesn't help either).

On the positive side, I am wondering if, with the bye week, there is some retooling in the offensive plan which may get him more involved. A reach, but possible.

What say the Shark Pool?

I would keep him. I'm a Colts homer and what I see coming up is the Colts face their toughest part of their schedule. With that I think they'll be running 2 TE sets most of the time.

Couple this with the fact that Brandon Stokley is injured again. Their other 3rd WR options are worse than Clark in the passing game.

I heard the same things as you did in the preseason; I got him on two of my teams and he has not produced. I thought when Stokley had gotten hurt and missed some time they might throw him the ball more - Nope.

I thought with a weaker running game this year the team would throw more thus producing more oportunities for him. - Nope - they are passing more (25 more attempts than last year) but they are not going to Clark.

I've been a HUGE Dallas Clark advocate since Day 1. However, I am now extremely low on his prospects. Why?

1) He has (...and always had) the best QB in the league throwing him the ball.

2) The Colts' #3 (Stokely) has been hurt practically all season.

3) The other TE's on the team have been hurt (...or placed on the IR).

Still...Clark only has 11 catches for 124 yards. It pains me to say it, but I don't think Clark will ever become a 1st or 2nd-tier TE. From a situation perspective, it cannot get any better for him.
