Dallas Cowboys Offseason Thread (1 Viewer)

George Pickens to Dallas ?

If it involves draft picks it is Interesting timing since it will not involve 2025 picks.
Sounds like a third rounder. Hey, when you give a fourth for Mingo, I guess Pickens is worth a third.

That Mingo trade is an all-time head-scratcher…it will never make sense.

This is an interesting deal…I am not a Pickens fan but this seems like a really nice fit…Lamb and Pickens is a serious 1-2 punch if Pickens can keep his head on straight…the x-factor is the contract…do you pay Pickens now or wait a year…either way is risky…if you pay him now and he is an issue you will regret it…if you wait a year and he lights it up I don’t see him giving any discounts…gonna be really interesting to watch this unfold.
This is pure speculation, but I would say it's built upon some very concrete history of seeing/hearing Pickens for the past three years; does anyone really think they are getting a discount/great price on him even if he's signed this year instead of next? Where do we honestly think Pickens is rating himself amongst other NFL wide receivers with regards to a contract? Feels like it will be a headache either way IMO. Should be interesting at least as he shares an agent with Micah Parsons, who is also seeking a new deal.

Agreed…but if he has a monster year in his contract year it takes things to another level because now he may actually have some hand.

True. Well I won't besmirch the Cowboys thread, as there are definitely some scenarios where this plays out great for the team/it's fans. They needed another talented WR across from Lamb, and they got one. But as a Steelers fan, I'm also happy enough with how it played out. Hopefully our now very ugly WR room is enough to keep Rodgers away and we can finally have a losing season and a high draft pick hah.

Definitely...this is a trade that could go in so many different directions for both teams.

Well, how do we fele boys?

If we somehow hit on the RB we may have a competitive team.
I love it. If it doesn't work out long-term with Pickens, we should get a 3rd round compensatory pick.

Just saw an article the other day making fun of Jerry for being a blowhard about saying he was working on a couple big deals and nothing happening. Woops, lol. I guess ol' Jerruh wasn't playin', after all. Interesting this trade didn't go down during the draft, but I'm glad it didnt because it would've cost us Revel. My guess is that's exactly why Jerry didnt do it then.

Better have some good DBs when you play the Boys...

Cautiously excited about Pickens. Talent definitely there. And really needed to take some attention away from Ceedee. Or they keep it there and now someone makes them pay.

Pickens trade is a good move for the Cowboys. Gotta take swings. Worst case scenario, you get a 3 back after he signs with another team in 2026
I like to poke fun at Jerry…because he is Jerry. However I like the move as well. If they have any chance to compete with PHI/WAS the next few Dak years they need to take a swing. The change of scenery may be what Pickens needed.

Thanks! How are you holding up? Do you think you ladies will still get voted most popular?
I'm ok with it, I think the Eagles have the scheme and player to slow down pretty much any offensive system, but I think the move definitely will affect Lamb's ceiling much more than people are willing to admit, fantasy wise at least. If you guys have the offensive line shored up you guys can do some damage this year.

I guess it’s possible that Ceedee is such an alpha that Pickens falls in line, but I don’t see it. I’d be worried that the culture in Dallas is not ideal for Pickens to lock in, and he could very well make things substantially worse in the locker room. I think Gabe Davis would have made more sense (though he was released after).
But Dallas is a talented team, with a QB that everyone has given up on prematurely, so it could work out. I just don’t think it’s without risk.

I think there is a risk as well, but just the type of risk DAL needs to take to compete in their division. It may not work out, however not rolling the dice on someone would be wasting the year imo.

Of course it’s a risk, but the reward is also high. The Cowboys have a long history of dealing with diva wide receivers and everything that I’ve seen and heard about Pickens leads me to believe he’s just like every other wide receiver I’ve ever seen play.

Lamb isn’t exactly a church mouse as of late. Irvin, Owens, Dez, Antonio Bryant, Keyshawn Johnson, etc.

This isn’t their first rodeo.

GP's contested catch metrics are ridiculous. In fact, nobody is even close in contested yards per catch. And that was with Trubinsky, Kenny 2 gloves, Fields, and the ghost of Russell Wilson. Dak is going to look like Dan Marino to George.

CeeDee is likely going to draw the double, the top corner, or both. Pickens isn't going to know what to do singled-up against the opponent's 2nd corner. He could feast.

He's always reminded me of Dez. Maybe Ceedee will let him wear 88.

I've had Pickens on the trade block for almost a year now. Surprised no one is sniffing around because it is easy to imagine a huge upside.
