Danario Alexander (1 Viewer)

i love how this thread gets taken out of mothballs whenever DX decides to show up . . .
Alexander is the El Dorado of fantasy football. But having said that I have picked him up in two deep leagues. And I am pulling for him as a football fan and a person, it would be sad to see that much talent ruined by sheer bad luck and fate. Hopefully he fulfills his promise this time.

Spags said that DX will see more snaps against the Ravens. Trying to find out if he's practicing today...
Against some very vulnerable CBs...we could be in for another week for production. Just not sure how much past that we can trust him. If he is healthy and practicing this week, and you need a WR3 he is worth a start vs. BAL

I've been as in love with Danario as anyone here. And he's a difficult man to love. Some days he flashes pure romance, storms in and sings to you and brings you flowers, and catches over a hundred yards and makes a bunch of long plays, and you think to yourself "I've never felt so happy." And many other days he just downright breaks your heart. And he does it again, and again. You hold him, spend time reading about him and spend a roster spot on him. Your friends make fun of you. They try to convince you to break it off. It's almost abusive. Every week from doubtful to probably to doubtful again. It gets to the point where you assume he won't be there for you on Sunday, and when you see him out there, you are genuinely surprised. The lows are surely low. But the highs? My goodness, the highs. As he strides down the sideline like a gazelle, and it happens for you almost in slow motion, and you leap to your feet as Bradford releases the ball from his fingertips, and it floats into the air, and time stops. And the ball slowly drifts downward into the hands of an outstretched Danario, and you leap and scream with joy, and you text your friends to tell them how wrong they were, and at that very moment, you feel true love.He is a hard, hard man to love. But, I confess, the heart wants what the heart wants.
:goodposting: I'm back on the train. Don't toy with my heart, Danario.

11 targets today. Almost double any other receiver in SD. This guy is going to be money down the stretch.
Yes and no. Most of the targets came on the last drive which may make them less indicative of the future? However, it is still better than anything on the ww and it at least shows what he can do given more targets.Last 3 week targets: 3, 7, 11 but the trend is moving up...

Maybe, on the bolded, but by the same token...weren't they potentially going in for a tying score there? Rivers was looking his way often. If so, that's a positive.Hell, even if my memory is failing and it was just a "garbage time drive", garbage time targets/production count too. With the way Rivers/SD have looked of late I think expecting them to be trailing frequently isn't that much of a stretch. I'll take garbage work like that every chance I can get.

I own Alexander in a couple leagues(picked up as soon as SD signed him), but he isn't someone I'm relying on....but I will happily chuck him out there as a WR3 or Flex if he's going to be getting upwards of 8 targets and RZ looks every week. Maybe some games he'll only get 3-4 catches for 50 yards, but if the recent trends continue he is probably going to be a decent bet for a score any given week.

He looked really good today. If the O-line gives Rivers time and he somehow doesn't decide to make a boneheaded play, he could have a nice finish to the season. One thing is certain, the Chargers will need to throw the ball to win. Our O-line can't run block for ####.

No, they were down by 14 at that point, which is why they attempted the onside kick after the td stood. But you're right....there may be a lot of garbage time the way Rivers is playing! ;)

For those of you having your first romance with him, enjoy. I have been there before and got my heart broken. felt so good for a while and then his knees will break your heart. He will make you cry.

I would sell high.

In start 3, I have Cobb, S Smith, and Crabtree.

Do I start Danario the rest of the year over smith or Crabtree?

If there's someone in your league unfamiliar with Danario's history, sure, sell high. Otherwise you need to wait and gamble on him staying intact the next 6 games. You probably won't get much back if you sell him now, cross your fingers and keep starting him the rest of the season, the sell window opens if he survives until January.

Yeah, I don't think anyone harbors any illusions about his longevity. Ride him while you got him and put him away wet.

Very tough to gauge dx's value in a dynasty league BC of his supposed degenerative knee condition. If he holds up and stays healthy rest of this season no doubt he will land a nice contract with the chargers (with a substantial injury clause I'm sure). As long as he is healthy he has potential to be a top 10-15 wr. But who do you keep him over?

I'd have no problem dropping him off-season if the roster position has half his current value. He's going down again. Just a question of when.

Most leagues have passed the trade deadline so he's probably on your team for the duration of the season. If you are still able to trade him I would if I was out of the playoffs.

I don't know....depends on your situation. I offered him & Heath Miller for Gronk and a throw-in guy today and the other owner is actually thinking it over. I'm building for next year and he's trying to win now. We'll see...

This was a great thread two years ago. I'm thrilled DX is back on the field and beasting.

May not last; the production will if he's healthy, but you never know if/when he will break down again.

But it's a fun ride when he's on the field.

For comparison purposes, starting him with Jorday/Welker, and over DJax, Shorts and Torrey.

I can't believe there's not more discussion of this. Am I the only one who is this excited? There's so much talk about so many mediocre players out there, how are we ignoring someone who has such ridiculous upside?

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams promoted wide receiver Danario Alexander from the practice squad to the active roster to replace injured Mark Clayton.

Alexander was a star at Missouri last season but wasn't drafted after undergoing a fourth operation on his left knee in February. When the Rams signed him in August, Alexander said he was still rehabbing the knee.
Oh Lordy, Coach Otis hit this one out of the park.

I still can't get ver his second TD. That ball was probably 12 feet in the air.
